Rejection

DAMIEN POV

It’s not possible.

Her eyes went to my face for a brief moment and then went down again in fright.

I doubt she heard what I said.

“It’s her,” Dugan said out in relief.

“Shut up!” I barked at him, there was no mate.

“Mate is dead.” I half yelled.

“This is our second chance mate after waiting for so long.” Dugan wasn’t gonna stop bickering that easy but I wasn’t gonna give him that chance.

“Not another word from you Dugan.” Has he forgotten who killed Jolene? He growled lowly at me and withdrew.

I did not care.

It was the wolves!

Who killed my mate?

Jolene would forever be my mate and there would not be another!

Wolf as a mate!

Never!

I growled at the girl and she whimpered and didn’t know if she was to hide behind Cranon or run away but she couldn’t because of the chains, she dropped her head to the ground and stared at her fidgety hands.

A second chance mate?

How ridiculous!

I never asked for such and even if I did why would the moon goddess decide to give me a wolf?

I never trusted those shitty deities.

Ever since she died, I believe nothing or hope for anything.

“Loosen her...” my voice was always so cold when I speak and it made Cranon shudder as he began to take the chains away from her.

“Yes, my king.”

“She would do anything you ask of her, anything at all.” He pats her hair.

“Take your hands off her,” I growled with my eyes darkened at him. I didn’t know why the sight of him touching her irked me.

He took his hands off immediately with a nervous laugh.

“Now take those chains off.” Dugan was trying to take control but I won’t let him do any of that.

I didn’t want to see her in chains.

Not because I was gonna treat her any differently.

I looked away from them unbothered by what Cranon was saying to her and was making her so scared.

I turned and whispered to Lucas to keep everyone away or end the ceremony and let them all go home.

I was a party bloomer.

“It just started.” He complained.

“It hasn’t been less than ten minutes since we started.” He stood in front of me and glanced sideways if our conversation was being heard.

“We already have done the most important. Now call it off It's past midnight,” I growled. He was starting to get on my nerves. And I was getting angry.

My anger wasn’t something anyone could control and Lucas knew he should never make me angry.

“Fine.” He rolled his eyes.

“I’ll have your head chopped off, for your disrespect. It’s a promise.” I nudge him on his elbow, his face turned into a grimace and he faux a smile on his lips at the guest who glanced our way.

“Yes, Alpha.” He grumpily replied and walked away to end the ceremony.

I walked away from we had been standing and tread into the large door to the house, ignoring the murmuring and gossip about me.

“He’s the beast, Lycan.”

“That’s why his mansion is deep in the woods.”

“I heard he killed his mate.”

I stopped abruptly and twirled on my heel and stared at the two women and a man in between. I couldn’t ignore the last words.

They cowered at my stare and had their head down.

“Lucas,” I called through gritted teeth. He hurried to my side, my eyes were

“Have them locked up and hundreds of strokes each, do not stop until I say so” I spun and faced Lucas, my lips parted in a growl. “Now!”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I moved away and began to hurry to my room, I wanted to get away from all of this.

But...

I could sense her behind me, her scent cinnamon and pine were intoxicating in the house and drowning me in the most pleasant way. and I made an abrupt stop to face her, her eyes darted to the ground instantaneously.

“Why are you following me?” I breathed out and have my hands over my hair and swept them off my face.

“I...I...was told to serve you, my lord...King...Alpha.” I bit down at chuckled at her uneasiness, she was unsure of what to call me.

I couldn’t see her face because her head was down. I scoffed at her nervous she sounded, I hated her already. Why was she sounding so weak?

“What’s your rank?” I forced the words out of my lips with a frown. She tried to raise her head and I stopped her with my next word.

“Do not lift your head while I talk to you! Now answer me?!” My voice was enough for her to tremble, I thought she was gonna fall because her feet wobble and she wanted to get away from me.

I know, everyone wants to get away from me.

“An..omega.” I scrunched my face at the word but her voice, was peacefully calm, it was soothing, and my mouth clamped shut for a moment and I took a large stride toward her. My finger went to her face and I lift her chin.

I wanted her to remember this moment.

“What’s your name?” I breathed close to her face, her lips parted but she didn’t say a word but only gasped.

I did not want to think of anything and her proximity to me.

How effortlessly beautiful she looked and could feel shivers running down my cock.

“Viola Adams.” She called out.

Viola, was it because of her eyes?

I shouldn’t care, I didn’t wanna know.

“I, King of the Lycan, Damien Thorne would never accept you...” I paused staring at her face for a brief moment and continued.

“...Viola Adams as my mate. Accept my rejection, mate.” I growled with a hatred down my throat, my eyes darkened on her and I was snarling.

“You heard me.” I seethed through gritted teeth. Her eyes welled up in tears and she was trying to keep them at bay and she looked me in the eye with a glint of hurt in them.

“I do not accept your rejection.”
