ISABELLE’S POV “Now you are looking perfectly beautiful”. Edith said after combing my hair. I smile as I look at myself in the mirror. Today I am wearing a nice sky-blue dress. I don’t wear those revealing weird non-existent dresses anymore. Ivy told Edith to make me the dresses I like. Ivy is now the head of the harem so Edith has to follow her orders. I remember that I had asked the king once about this and I was not expecting the words he said in return. His words were: “Of course, you can wear the dresses you like. It does not matter what type of dress you wear. For me you will always look beautiful”. His words had impressed me that day. I did not think that he would say such words to me. Now I hate Lillian more for making me wear such dresses. I was looking at myself in the mirror when I heard Ivy’s voice. “Edith, leave us alone. I have to talk about something with Belle”. Ivy orders Edith while looking at me. Edith does not say anything but quietly starts packing up her t
ISABELLE’S POV “I king Eric Leonor give you my word that I will give you whatever you want”. The king says. I smile at this. Now, Esme will not die. I will be able to save her life. King will forgive her now. I am happy that she will not die because of me. “Don’t kill Esme-”. I start to say but the king stops me with a gesture of his hand. “Stop! I don’t want to hear”. He said to me in a hard tone. His eyes turned hard just at the mention of her. He pours some more wine into the goblet and drinks it in one go. I hesitantly put my hand on the king’s arm. I thought a hundred times before touching him. He looked towards me the moment when my hand touched his arm. “Please, don’t kill her. Spare her life. She should not be given this punishment. You said that you will give me whatever you want”. I remind him of his words and request him to forgive Esme. There was a flicker of emotions in the king’s eye which I saw for only a moment before it disappeared. His eyes have turned to normal
ISABELLE’S POV “You don’t need her forgiveness. You have me”. The king says to me with a smile. The king goes forward and pulls the struck flambeau and with a large sound, the walls come back in their place. The walls are looking like normal. No one can tell by seeing them that a maze is hidden behind these strong walls. I leave the king’s hand and move forward towards the wall and touch it. There is no crease or something like that from where the walls had split. The bricks are in place. It looks like a real wall. These walls cannot be opened from the inside. So, it means once you enter you cannot get out. The king’s words were right. It is a path toward death. “I am thinking about something, my king but I fear that you might get angry. Am I allowed to speak what is inside my mind?” Walter asks the king with the utmost respect. I look towards him from where I am standing. “Yes, Walter. You can speak”. The king allows him. His attention is now on Walter. “You knew that she wou
ISABELLE’S POV The royal carriage starts to move and I look around me. This is the first time I am going out of the palace since I came into the palace. I am excited and happy as well. After our talk last night, we then went to sleep. The king woke me before the sun had risen. He told me to get ready quickly because he was taking me with him for the hunting. I was shocked after hearing that the king was taking me out of the palace but then came out of it when he picked me up and took me to take a bath. After we got ready, the king took me out of the palace with him. Walter is going with us as well. I sat down inside a big royal carriage while the king mounted his horse. I have never sat inside a carriage before. It is big and I think four people can also sit inside with me. The carriage is moving slowly behind the horses. Two soldiers are on the horses behind the carriage. The king told me that he had decided to go hunting in the jungle near Drago Village. So, he thought it would be
ISABELLE’S POV We take two or more steps and then I hear the sound of the door again. I think someone closed the door. “We have reached”. After saying this, the king unwraps his arm from my waist and leaves my hand. He removes the ribbon from around my eyes. It takes a minute for my eyes to adjust. When my vision clears and I look around, I find myself in a big room. This room is almost similar to the king’s room. There is a big bed against the wall in front of us and just like the king’s room, there is a balcony. There is a fireplace and couches too. It is almost the same size as the king’s room but the difference is that this room has things of a little soft color. There are two more doors here as well. “Whose room is this, my king? Why have you brought me here?” I turn towards the king and ask him confusedly. I don’t understand why he brought me here. I am sure that he is not thinking of giving this room to me because I feel like this room is of the queen. It cannot be for a slav
ISABELLE’S POV I flip the page of the book with the help of my left hand. The name of the book which I am currently reading is “The tales of Ash Ville”. It is a nice book and it includes the horror stories of the town. It is a fictional book but I like it and has captured my attention. I found this in the library a few weeks back and I thought to read it. Today I saw it in the books which I had not read so I decided to read this one. Currently, I am in my room and sitting on the bed with my knees pulled to my chest. I am holding the book with my only left hand. I cannot use my right hand because the king burnt it last night with hot candle wax. The candle wax had deeply burnt my skin and I am sure the wounds will leave scars. It was very painful and I felt like my arm was in direct contact with hot blazing fire rather than hot wax. It was worse than walking on the hot sand. When he left the room last night, I fainted. I woke up this morning. When I woke up, I saw Ivy sitting beside
ISABELLE’S POV “Do you know about the west side of the palace?” She asks me. I think about it. West side of the palace? I have never heard about it. The king has never mentioned it either. “No, I don’t know. What is there?” I ask her. “That side of the castle is locked and no one is allowed to go there. A few days back I was passing by that side so I decided to check what was in that part but a soldier stopped me. Two soldiers are always guarding the doors of that side. I told him that I am the head of the harem but he still did not let me go inside. He told me that no one is allowed to go inside because from that part there is a secret way to get out of the castle. It was used before but then it was closed upon the king’s orders. The doors are locked with three heavy locks and only the king or Walter has the keys to those locks”. Ivy tells me. “Why are you telling me about this?”. I ask her confusingly. Why is she telling me about some deserted part of the palace? “Because you
ISABELLE’S POV A put a hand on my mouth to stop myself from making any noise. So, this is the right way to get out of the maze. Now I will be able to escape. I never knew that leaving the maze would be so easy. By just following the signs of the Alsair kingdom I can get out of the maze. “Ok, I have understood”. The other person replies. “Now I am going to the king. I have to tell him about this”. Marius tells the other man. I have to leave from here before Marius finds me. If he finds me here then he will tell the king about this and there is no doubt in this that the king will believe him. I straighten up and compose myself. I hide my smile and make a normal face. If Marius sees me smiling like this then he will become suspicious so I should act normal. I come out of my hiding position. I pass Marius and the other man silently. I quickly move towards the harem. I enter the harem and find the usual hustle-bustle. I should go to my room and think of my escape plan. As I don’t wan
