The artist

BLAIR'S POV

Professor Reynolds asked me not to talk about it, and I'd respect that. Even though he didn't deserve my secrecy after how terrible he made me feel, if I told Maddox, I was sure he would be annoyed.

The next morning, I had the useless Contemporary Art Thought and Practice course, and lo and behold, like I predicted, the syllabus was entirely composed of guest speakers talking about their most recent art projects. Maddox was also in this class, and he rolled his eyes at how pretentious this whole charade was.

"They just want to give their artist friends some clout..."

He commented. I had to agree with him, although I was trying to be open minded. One good thing about this was that I could see what other up-and-coming artists were working on, see how they navigated the Art world, get some tips on the right people to keep around, and ultimately grow my network.

"Our guest for our first lecture is a very special person to me," our lecturer, Dr Turner, said. "He is an alumnus of this university and his work ever since he graduated has suffered, well, some ups and downs. I'll let him speak for himself. Please welcome Mr. Gary Kent."

The class clapped unenthusiastically as Mr. Kent made his way to the speaker's podium.

His name sounded strangely familiar, but I thought nothing of it.

"Thanks so much Mr. Turner. It's a pleasure to be back to this house who watched me grow as a person and as an artist. Not gonna lie though, being on this side is much worse than being sat there, trust me."

The sound of chuckles danced in the room. Gary Kent was a young man dressed in jeans and a shirt. It was obvious he tried to look formal, but he still looked like a bit disheveled. However, his aura was that of an artist, that was evident. He also spoke in a very cool way. It made him look like he was perhaps a bit younger, a bit more immature.

"Mr. Turner asked me to speak to you about my journey from being a student, like all of you, to having my very first art exhibition at Kingston Museum. Don't be shy, you can clap, I know it's amazing."

Some louder laughter erupted in the room, followed by claps.

He then proceeded to talk about his experience at Durham, the projects he had been involved in, and especially his big final assignment for Professor Agnes' course. He said that, at the time, he looked around and all he saw were extremely talented people with prospects and offers and a bright future ahead of them and he just felt mediocre.

"I struggled for a long time with self-doubt. I know what you're thinking, how can such a good-looking guy doubt himself. I can't figure it out either." More laughter filled the room. Even Prof Turner was chuckling to himself.

"But anyway, I struggled for many years to find my true style. It felt like every time I started something new, it all came crumbling down. I felt like I wasn't really good at anything. I doubted if I was made for this, if I was a real artist, or if I was just doing it for the lifestyle, for this romanticized idea of being an artist."

"Then, one day, with the help of some friends and a few magic potions (for legal reasons I was advised not to reveal what kind), it came to me. Inspiration just landed on my lap after years of struggling."

He then turned on a PowerPoint and showed us pictures of his art pieces.

"What I had always struggled with was the beginning.

Every time I picked up a pencil to jot some ideas down, I got stuck. Self-doubt came over me and I gave up.

Starting, for me, was always the hardest part. So, as the genius that I am, I decided to exploit my insecurities. I had had enough of them controlling me. I decided to make the beginning literally the focus of my work. After months of pain-staking work, of bounds of self-doubt and indecision, I got my shot."

It was truly a compelling story. Every student in that class could see it in his eyes that, even though he was older than us, we felt true empathy for him. We saw ourselves in him.

He then proceeded to dive deeper into the meaning of his pieces. He truly was a very good artist. His humbleness was what was most striking. I found myself completely absorbed into his presentation, into his art.

When the presentation was finished, Mr. Turner spoke to us.

"Thank you so much for your presentation Gary. I am sure everyone got inspired by your story and your work. On that note, I have something special to announce. Mr. Kent's opening night is this Friday, and I'm happy to say that he was been most kind in providing us with tickets. So, consider Mr. Kent's exhibition as our first field trip."

Sweet. An opportunity to build up my network of sponsors and clients. Maddox seemed excited too.

"I have a fantastic black suit which I haven't had the chance to wear. Can't wait to put on some shoes and go out for the night. What do you say if after the exhibition we go out?", Maddox spoke.

I gave him a devilish grin. "First week of lessons and already thinking of going out?" I asked, sarcasm laced in my voice. "Now that's what I'm talking about."

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   Flirting with him

BLAIR'S POVI woke up the next day and checked my e-mails. As expected, I had received one from Gary Kent last night."Hello Blair and David!First of all, thank you both once again for your enthusiasm today at the interviews! I'm sure I chose the right people for the job.As I already explained to you both, I'll expect you to work Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 6 P.M to around midnight, but these first few days I'll just be explaining my new collection from top to bottom and go over each piece that I'll want to create, so you'll be leaving earlier. The address of my studio is: 264 Jennings Rd. 5th floor. You don't need to bring any materials with you, only some comfortable clothes you don't mind staining (since you're painters I assume it's your entire closet ahahah). If you have any questions please send me a text. I'll leave my phone number attached (I hate e-mails, they're so formal).Alright, that's all I got for you guys. See you on tomorrow!Take care!PS: If you call me

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   Not so innocent

FELIX'S POV"Blair, we need to talk." I said as I fired up the car engine. The parking lot was empty at that time, so my anxiousness was at bay. However, I was still vigilant. If any faculty member saw me, I wasn't sure if I could give a justifiable reason why a student of mine was in my car at 8 o'clock at night."I think we do." He said softly, a hint of nervousness in his voice.I don't know what took over me in my office, but all I could see was him. He consumed me, body and mind, and even though I was the one in control, ironically, I felt like I had lost it, like I had completely surrendered to my most primal desires. I had been battling with my mind, convincing myself that the attraction I felt for him was nothing serious, that I could easily see him every day and suppress my irrational, damning emotions. For as hard as I tried to stay away, he pulled me in, and I didn't want it to stop. When I sent him the text telling him that I was in my office, deep down I knew what would h

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   Sexual moment in his office

After my response, something sparked in him. Swiftly, he pinned both my hands above my head, taking me by surprise. He looked me in the eyes, his gaze piercing through me."There's probably nobody on this floor at this hour, but I'm not taking any chances. You'll have to be quiet for once, Mr De Montmorency. Do you think you can manage that?"The look of desire on his face made my stomach flip and my knees tremble. With one hand gripping my wrists and the other trailing down my body, I was completely entranced by his beauty. His wild hair, his strong shoulders, his confident hands, his wide chest, all of him was consuming me.His free hand found its way under my trousers. I gasped when he brushed his fingers against my throbbing dick inside my pants."Tell me to stop and I'll stop." He said gently, diving into my neck, kissing my skin.I couldn't believe this was actually happening. Finally having sex with a fellow man.He grazed his middle finger softly over the middle of my pants. I

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   I want this

Blair’s pov.I pulled out my phone as I walked slightly behind the other students who were exiting the building. I opened a new text, excitement taking over my body.BLAIR: I have news. Where are you?Just before I had time to put my phone away, it lit up.DR REYNOLDS: My office. The two-word message was enough to convince me to go there. It felt right to give him the news in person. I also had a strange feeling that he was perhaps behind this: did Dr Reynolds give Mr Kent a hint as to which student to choose? No, he didn't seem like the type of professor who did that, especially given our... complicated stance. One thing I was certain of, our conversation at the museum was a contributing factor to Gary's decision.I headed upstairs to the last floor. I remembered the last time I had been there, when I showed Dr Reynolds my painting. I shuddered, trying to forget how harshly he had treated me.I adjusted my trousers, pulling them up, before I knocked on his office door. He softly said

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   The interview

"Alright everybody," Gary Kent said, clapping his hands and rubbing them together. "Thanks so much for being here today, I really appreciate it. So, this is how this is gonna work: I'll call you one by one until I've spoken to all of you. I think I'll be able to give you an answer at the end of the interviews, but we'll see. There aren't many of you, so this should be quick."Gary was an interesting guy. When compared to Professor Reynolds, he didn't command the same respect, he didn't talk in an intimidating way or even gave the impression that he was indeed older than us. He looked very jovial, his energy easing everyone. He made us feel like we were just going to have a chat as opposed to a formal interview. I liked that. One by one, the students were called. I sat on the corridor floor, leaning against the wall. The rest of the students that were waiting spoke among themselves, but I chose to use that waiting time to set up an account on a private tutoring website. I had thought a

  • A TASTE OF SIN WITH THE PROFESSOR   No longer mean

BLAIR’S POVI woke up feeling refreshed and well rested, which was odd given what had happened the day before between Dr Reynolds and I. Maybe the conversation we had at the gate put me at ease, and the text we shared that night only made me realize that maybe what we had done wasn't that bad. After all, he didn't seem mad or distant. He was quite the opposite actually. But the more I thought about it, the more I wondered if there was something about him that explained his composure. I think it's probably because he’s gay, and he’s used to to kissing fellow men. When I made my way to the bathroom to get ready for the day, I decided I'd put a little more effort into my appearance. I opted for fitted dark jeans and a crisp button-down shirt which I tucked in. I styled my hair neatly and applied cologne. After making a quick breakfast, I headed out the door, eager to get to Dr Reynolds' class. I had done all the readings and was feeling strangely confident.Maybe it was the text we share
