Chapter 30

Aurora's pov

I didn’t want to go.

Every part of my body still felt bruised from everything—

the party,

Jaxon,

the argument,

his stupid face,

my stupid feelings.

But Layla wasn’t asking.

She stood in front of me with red lipstick, glitter on her collarbones, and her hands on her hips like a mom who’d had enough.

“You’re coming,” she announced. “Kira is throwing a party at Heron’s Club and you’re not rotting in bed over anybody’s son.”

I groaned into my pillow. “Layla—”

“Nope. Get up. Wear something slutty. I want men to pass out.”

So I did the only thing a hurting girl does.

I obeyed.

I stood in front of my mirror staring at a version of me I didn’t recognize.

The dress was less a garment and more a highly effective piece of weaponized distraction.

It was cut from a single, shimmering piece of obsidian liquid silk, designed specifically to defy gravity and good sense.

The neckline plunged into a daring V that threatened to expose state secrets, secured only by two barely-

It lands with a soft, careless thud—like the punctuation mark at the end of a long, exhausting sentence. Layla looks up from the kitchen doorway, one eyebrow lifting. “You okay?” “Define okay,” I murmur, already drifting toward the warmth. The kitchen feels like a hug. Golden light spilling from under the cabinets. A plate of cookies resting on the counter, cracked and imperfect, still breathing out sweetness. • A Taste Of Him: The One I Was Never Meant to Want    A sleepless night

Chapter 37Aurora povHis phone buzzed again, I saw the name —A—The name never finished forming. My eyes flew open, I woke like a body thrown back into itself.Air ripped into my lungs, sharp and desperate, my chest rising too fast, too hard. The room was still wrapped in night—shadows clinging to the walls, moonlight slicing thin silver lines across the ceiling—but my body felt like it had been set on fire and forgotten. My sheets were tangled around my legs.Warm.Too warm. My phone lay innocent on the bedside table, screen dark, unmoving. No buzzing. No growl. No weight pinning me to the mattress.Just my breath—ragged. Too loud.I lay there, frozen, The ceiling above me blurred for a second as heat coiled low in my stomach, slow and dangerous, refusing to fade. I stared at the ceiling as the dream shattered in slow, humiliating piecesGod.It had felt real. The echo of his voice still rang in my head, low and dangerous, like it had been whispered directly into my bloodstream.

  • A Taste Of Him: The One I Was Never Meant to Want    Urgh!, it was a dream

Chapter 36Aurora povThe dim glow of the city lights bled through the half-drawn blinds, casting long, shifting shadows across the hardwood floor. The air was thick with the scent of sweat and something sweeter—his perfume, mint, musky now with arousal, clinging to the heat between us. I had barely stepped into the apartment before his hands were on me, pulling me back against him, his breath hot against the curve of my neck. There was no preamble, no gentle teasing—just raw, hungry need.Jaxon's fingers dug into the soft flesh of my hips, possessive and unyielding, as he spun me around and pressed me against the wall. The cool plaster met my back, a stark contrast to the fire spreading through my veins. I gasped as his body pinned mine, the hard ridge of his cock grinding against the damp fabric of my panties. Even through the layers of clothing, I could feel him—thick, throbbing, desperate to be inside me. A whimper escaped my lips, my nails scraping against the rough denim o

  • A Taste Of Him: The One I Was Never Meant to Want    Jeff's confession

Chapter 35Aurora pov---I pushed open the bathroom door, still wiping at my face. My hands trembled slightly, but I forced myself to straighten up.Jeff was already there. He was leaning against the low brick wall near the fountain, phone in hand, brows drawn together like he’d been concentrating too hard on something unimportant. When he saw me properly, his mouth curved—not wide, not dramatic. Just… pleased.“You disappeared,” he said. “I was about to assume you ditched.”I shrugged lightly. “Needed air.”“Hey,You coming?” He asked , starting to walk.We thought we’d grab some fresh air outside before leaving school .”His tone was light, completely unaware that my chest still felt tight. I forced a small smile. “Yeah… yeah, I’m coming.”He held out his hand like a friendly gesture. I hesitated, then took it. His grip was warm, easy—not comforting in some dramatic sense, just… steady. He didn’t notice my red eyes or trembling hands. He didn’t have to.I stepped closer, close enoug

  • A Taste Of Him: The One I Was Never Meant to Want    Wanting more

Chapter 34Aurora POVWe avoided each other everywhere.I learned the timing of hallways like survival math—when to turn, when to slow down, when to disappear before he came into view. And Jaxon? He moved like nothing had happened.Like my mouth hadn’t learned his shape.Like my body hadn’t remembered him before my brain could scream don’t.Like I hadn’t fallen asleep with his name burning behind my ribs. That was the part that gutted me.Because I was wreckage.Every glimpse of him cracked something open in my chest. Every time he passed without looking—really looking—it felt deliberate. Surgical. Cruel in the quietest way.He didn’t search for me.Didn’t hesitate.Didn’t slip. Not once.If our paths crossed, he walked past me like I was furniture. Like background noise. Like a stranger he’d never pulled into darkness. And I hated him for it.Hated how easy it was for him to pretend.Hated myself for expecting anything else.Hated how I wanted his hands to circle my clits I told my
