My muscles were locked in a momentary paralysis, making me freeze beside Quinlan. I held my breath, awaiting his next action. Like me, he stood unmoving, probably digesting the bombshell Clara and her father had dropped. They were dead set on making sure I wasn't chosen over Clara, and it seemed that they had succeeded. "I know Ronika cannot shift, and I don't see how any of that is your concern," he responded, making Nana flash me a smile that had the tension in my muscles dissipating.
