Levi’s eyes darted from Daniel to Elias, confusion clouding her expression as though she could not quite process the words she had just heard.

Her brows knitted tightly, and her voice came out shaky but insistent as she asked, “Elias… do you know this man?”

Elias, still rubbing the last traces of sleep from his eyes, nodded without hesitation.

His voice carried the blunt honesty of a child, unbothered by the weight of the moment.

“Yes, I know him, Aunt Levi. That’s Mom’s rude boss.”

Immediately Levi’s lips parted in disbelief, her hand slowly rising to her chest as if to steady her racing heart.

“Wait… wait a second,” she stammered, her tone stumbling over each word, “are you telling me this man standing here is…”

Before she could finish, Daniel’s deep voice cut through the air, sharp and deliberate.

He stepped forward with calculated poise, his expression firm, almost enjoying the suspense of interrupting her.

“Yes,” he said, his tone low, carrying the authority of some

  • A Wife For Him (Hearts Under Contract)   Another Deal

Irene stood in front of the cafe, her palms pressed tightly against the strap of her bag. Her chest rose and fell as she forced herself to breathe in and out. The cool air did little to ease the heat of anxiety that churned inside her. “Oh my God,” she whispered to herself. “I just have to do this because there is no way I am going to allow anyone to take my sons from me.” Her jaw tightened as she thought of Daniel barging into her home with his threats. She already knew why Mr. Henry Blackwood had sent her the address. It was because of what his son had come to say and she was not ready to give up her children for anything. So she was going to make that clear to him. At least Henry Blackwood, she thought, should be more reasonable than his arrogant son. With that, she pushed the glass door open and stepped into the cafe. The warm scent of coffee beans mixed with fresh pastries surrounded her, but it did nothing to soften the tension in her chest. Her eyes swept the room un

  • A Wife For Him (Hearts Under Contract)   Two Options

Irene held his gaze, the pulse in her throat beating fast but her chin lifting anyway. Her hand slid back to Ethan’s, and when his fingers squeezed, hers answered. “What exactly are these two options, and what do you mean by the second being something I would not want to take?” she asked. Daniel inclined his head a fraction, as if acknowledging that at least the question was sensible. “Option one,” he said, “you accept what is already inevitable. You allow me to take the boys peacefully, into the life I can give them — stability, education, protection. And because you are their mother, I put into consideration that you come with them. As my wife and as their guardian under my roof. That way, no battle is needed, and the children remain whole.” Levi’s breath shivered out of her, and she took half a step closer to Irene without meaning to. “And option two, what is it, and why say it like a threat?” Levi asked. As Daniel’s eyes moved to Levi for a beat, then back to Irene as i

  • A Wife For Him (Hearts Under Contract)   The Deal

Irene’s gaze snapped to the man stepping into her living room with a slim briefcase in his hand, the door still shivering on its hinges from his uninvited entrance, and for a heartbeat she simply stared because the morning had already bled too much shock into her. Then her arm lifted and she pointed straight at him, her voice cutting through the heavy air like a blade as she said, “What is going on, and in fact, who is this man that just barges into someone's home without knocking?” she asked. But Daniel did not answer at once — instead he smiled, slow and composed, as if he were in his boardroom and not in a cramped home with tired curtains and children pressed close to their mother. And then he turned back to the couch with a faint wrinkle of distaste, drew a folded handkerchief from his inner pocket, dusted the cushion with meticulous strokes that made Levi’s throat tighten. Then lowered himself and crossed one leg over the other, ankle resting neatly on his knee while he sett

  • A Wife For Him (Hearts Under Contract)   Early

The next morning, Daniel made a decision that surprised even himself as he didn’t wait for the driver, didn’t bother with breakfast, didn’t even give himself time to think more about the issue because what more was there to think all he just knew was that he was in no way he was going to loose the project because of some bunch of people. He simply grabbed his keys, slid into one of his cars, and drove out of the estate while the rest of the world was still yawning awake. The roads stretched out before him in pale silence, washed in the cool blue of dawn. He usually enjoyed that quiet how the city seemed to hold its breath at this hour, as though it belonged only to him but today his mind refused to settle, circling back again and again to the address glowing on his phone" Irene’s address" When the navigation finally guided him to a modest house at the end of a narrow street, Daniel slowed, his eyes narrowing as he studied it. The place was painfully ordinary: a weathered fen

  • A Wife For Him (Hearts Under Contract)   Two Months

The house was still as, Daniel sat cross-legged on the edge of his dining table, a newspaper open in front of him, one hand holding his usual morning cup of coffee. His hair was still messy from sleep, and he hadn’t bothered changing out of the navy T-shirt and sweatpants he’d thrown on after his shower. The article he was reading had nothing to do with work but everything to do with escaping it. Then, the front door flew open. “Dano!” a familiar voice roared from the hallway. “Dano! Dano!” Daniel sighed, setting his mug down. “I’m right here,” he called out, loud enough for his voice to travel. “God, what now?” he asked himself, Just as Henry his father stormed into the room, nearly tripping over the rug at the doorway. His eyes were wild, his blazer was half-off one shoulder, and in his hand was a white envelope he clutched like a winning lottery ticket. “I told you!” Henry said breathlessly, waving the envelope in the air. “I said it, didn’t I? I told you there was a pos
