Chapter 2

“Yes, Mr. Collen, there was a shameful incident here, but let's go, I apologize," Marianne continued to look disdainfully at Johanne, who was blushing with embarrassment in front of the man.

Eduard Collen, the powerful president of Collen Industries, came to the supermarket every day to buy coffee. His gaze was cold and devoid of any emotion. Unconsciously, he looked at Johanne, who, at first glance, appeared fragile to him. He was moved to see her with her baby in her arms, and he found her very beautiful. Although he didn't know what was really going on, he quickened his pace.

"George, good afternoon. Sorry about my secretary; she always interferes in everything."

"It's okay, young man," George replied with a smile, while Marianne continued to show displeasure. "Go easy, Marianne; I'll take care of her."

Marianne and Eduard left the supermarket as they were running late for a meeting. However, Eduard couldn't resist asking about what had happened in the store. He wanted to distract his mind a bit.

"What happened at that supermarket? Why did you take so long?" he asked without taking his eyes off the steering wheel.

"You won't believe it, boss. That woman who was there with her little child in her arms was stealing from the supermarket, and I caught her. But the cunning woman started crying, which moved George, and he decided not to call the police. So, I intervened, but the opposite happened; he decided to help her with food. And you know what?"

"What? Tell me already," although it wasn't very relevant to him what his secretary was telling him, he was thinking that his son's nanny had recently quit, and the little boy was unbearable, so he needed to hire a new one soon.

"He offered to help her find a job, but who would give a job to a thief? She wouldn't be entirely trustworthy."

"Yeah, you're right," Eduard continued driving without giving it much importance, still pondering what to do about his son's care since he didn't trust anyone completely.

For Eduard, finding a nanny for his rebellious little son was proving to be too difficult. Little Jhin hadn't yet adapted to the loss of his mother, and he manifested this through acts of rebellion. Despite being only six years old, he drove away every nanny his father hired within two days; none could withstand his behavior.

Since the unexpected death of his wife, Eduard had dedicated himself to his company and his young son, being a devoted father. However, he didn't have all the time in the world to be with his son. He managed to hire a new nanny, but like the others, she had been defeated by Jhin.

"Get out of here! I don't want you; I want my mommy!" young Jhin crossed his arms.

"But you have to eat, little one, or you'll get sick," Teresa, the new nanny, insisted.

"No, I don't want to eat, I don't want to eat," Jhin threw the plate of food on her dress, leaving the poor woman feeling defeated, while the child started throwing anything he could find at her.

"No more, Jhin, please!" Teresa's cries echoed through the house, and Eduard immediately went upstairs.

"What's going on here?" The mess caused by his son wasn't really a surprise to him.

"I don't want this nanny, daddy. I want my mommy."

"We've talked about this, little one. Your mommy is in heaven; it's difficult for her to come back." Eduard hugged him, knowing that his son's behavior was not the best, but he understood that, like himself, they both missed the love of the woman who had gone.

"Your son is a spoiled brat, sir. I quit!" Teresa ran away; she was the third nanny to give up in the last week.

Although Eduard was a millionaire who had all the money to pay anyone for the upbringing and care of his son, he had not found the right person who could not only do that but also give the love a young child needed.

On the other hand, Johanne returned to George's supermarket to find a job.

"Good afternoon, sir. Do you remember me?"

"Of course, I remember you. How are you? I see you've recovered, and how is the little one doing?"

"Very well, growing a lot, but he's also quite hungry. I wanted to ask you, have you heard about any job opportunities? I really need to find something soon. Perhaps here in your supermarket?"

George interrupted her, "Well, young lady, I haven't heard of anything, and unfortunately, we only have enough work for my wife and me. It's a small place, and it's just enough for us. But leave me your resume; perhaps it would be more successful if I give it to the neighbors around here. I've heard that they are looking for household employees."

"Thank you very much, sir. Of course, I will," she replied as she prepared to hand him her resume. Once again, by a twist of fate, the supermarket door opened; it was time for Eduard's coffee, and this time, he was alone.

"Good afternoon, George, the usual," he entered without even noticing Johanne's presence.

"Hello, Mr. Collen, of course," George went straight to the espresso machine to prepare his order. Eduard was standing next to Johanne, but he remained completely indifferent to her presence. However, she had recognized him by his scent and, above all, by his presence. How could anyone forget a man as striking as him?

Eduard felt her gaze on him, and though his face showed no expression, he felt uncomfortable. Nevertheless, he paid her no attention, took out a bill, and handed it to George.

"Here you go."

Eduard couldn't hide his stress; he felt like his blood was boiling because he hadn't found anyone to take care of his son, and George noticed this.

"Eduard, are you okay?" he asked.

"No, George. Do you know anyone prepared to take care of Jhin? I haven't been able to find a nanny, and I don't have the time to be with him one hundred percent."

"It's challenging to recommend someone for such a responsibility, sir, but if I know anyone suitable for your son, I'll let you know immediately."

Hearing a job opportunity, Johanne didn't hesitate to interrupt their conversation. Perhaps coincidences exist, and if fate had brought them there, it was for a reason.

"Sir, I could be the nanny for your son," she said. When Eduard heard her voice, he looked to his side, and there was the petite woman. Although he didn't recognize her immediately, seeing her with the baby and her face, he knew it was the same woman from before.

“You?”  Eduard looked her up and down.

"Yes, sir, me. I may not be professionally qualified, but I can guarantee that I know a lot about household chores and especially about raising a child," she replied, although she was lying about her experience since she was only a new mother herself.

In that moment, Eduard remembered his secretary's words, "Who could trust a thief?" However, he decided not to call her that at that moment; he simply chose to omit it.

"No, miss, thank you for your offer, but I am looking for someone more qualified," his gaze was piercing.

She lowered her head, feeling hurt by his words, but at least she had tried.

Eduard left the place, and even though she had captivated him again, she wasn't an option. He didn't even know who she was.

"What an arrogant man," she said to George.

"No, dear, he's not like that. It's just that his son has behavioral problems, and he's a widower, just like you. They are single parents, so trusting others is difficult for him. Besides, his secretary is the one who caught you stealing from me the other day, so I don't think he considers you trustworthy," George explained.

"Yeah, I know," she sighed disappointedly. It could have been a good opportunity.
