The restaurant was discreet.

Private room.

Low lighting.

Quiet enough to think.

Not quiet enough to avoid cameras.

I noticed them halfway through dinner.

Two flashes from across the street.

A reflection in the glass.

Paparazzi.

Of course.

Antone noticed too.

Madison noticed first.

She shifted her chair immediately — closer to me.

Purposefully.

Blocking angles.

Smart girl.

“I’ll sit here,” she said casually. “They’ll crop it if I’m centered.”

I blinked.

“You noticed?”

She roll

Oh how I yearn for a well written paragraph that actually flows. I’m tired of all the one-liners. No wonder the book is so long…the entire storyline could be put into 200 chapters without these endless repetitions that do nothing but distract from and fragment the story.

Well ok, Jason. Proud of you for showing honest vulnerability, and yet still conveying strong boundaries

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Eyes Wide Open

Amber POVThe press conference might have ended there, but the reporters had one more subject they were determined to discuss.Me.A journalist in the second row stood and adjusted his microphone."Miss Asher, I have a question for you."I turned toward him."Go ahead.""Considering the recent developments involving the Sun family, the allegations against you, and the claims that you have been found guilty in Sum Country, what exactly is your plan moving forward?"The room became almost unnaturally quiet. There it was.The question that had been waiting beneath every other one.I could practically hear the headlines being written in the journalists' minds.Amber Asher Responds to Sum Country Verdict.Asher Heir Faces Political Crisis. Is Amber Asher Preparing to Fight the Sum President?I looked at the reporter for a moment. Then I laughed. Not because the question was funny, but because the situation had become so absurd that I could no longer take the accusations seriously."That's

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Accountability

Amber POVThe press conference was held at Asher Corporation's main headquarters in River City.By the time I arrived, reporters had already crowded the entrance. Cameras flashed as my car approached, and the moment the door opened, a wave of voices rose around me."Miss Asher! Is it true that Mrs. Wyatt has been arrested?""Are the Asher and Wyatt families officially at war?""Miss Asher, will you be taking over the company?""Is this connected to the investigation involving the Sun family?"I stepped out without answering a single question. There would be time for answers inside. My grandfather had always taught me that a person who answered every accusation the moment it was shouted at them surrendered control of the conversation before it had even begun.Today, I wasn't surrendering anything.I walked through the entrance with my head held high, my expression calm, and my hand resting lightly on the small handbag at my side. The reporters followed until security intervened.Inside

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   The Asher Name

Amber POVMy phone rang the moment I ended the call, and when I saw grandfathers name on the screen, I couldn't help wondering whether the entire world had collectively decided that I wasn't allowed to enjoy a single peaceful morning.I answered with a sigh. "Hello.""Amber, where are you?""In the castle. Why?""Good. Stay there until my driver arrives. We have a press conference to prepare for."I blinked."Good day to you too.""Emory called me."That caught my attention."Emory?""He informed me that my sister has been detained."I sat straighter on the bed.Of course. Emory had wasted no time informing Grandfather that the authorities had finally taken his sister. Given the history between the Ashers and the Wyatts, the poisonings mostly, I could only imagine the conversation that had followed."How are you feeling?" I asked carefully.Grandfather was silent for a moment."How should I feel, Amber? My own sister is in custody, and I have spent years believing that the worst of ou

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Willing To Talk

Amber POV Morning arrived far too soon. I was somewhere between sleep and consciousness when my phone began vibrating on the bedside table. I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head. The phone continued ringing. Whoever was calling had apparently decided that my peaceful morning was a personal insult. With considerable reluctance, I reached for it and answered without looking at the screen. "Someone had better be dying." There was a brief silence. Then a familiar voice replied, "Good morning to you too, Miss Asher." I opened one eye. "Mr. Stait?" "No. This is the queen of England. I am calling to discuss your attitude." I stared at the phone. Then I sighed. "You're enjoying this." "Immensely." I pushed myself upright, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Mr. Stait, if this call isn't important, I will personally make sure you spend the rest of your career answering telemarketing calls." His amusement faded. "It is important." Something in his voice made me straigh

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   The Ones Who Remain

Amber POVBy the time Jason and I returned to the castle, I had nothing left to give. Not to the world, not to the people who had spent years making decisions about my life, and certainly not to the endless stream of problems that seemed determined to follow me wherever I went. For once, I wanted silence.I wanted a locked door, a warm bed, and the certainty that when I closed my eyes, no one would take anything else from me.Jason seemed to understand without my having to say a word.He held my hand as we walked through the castle, his thumb brushing slowly over my knuckles. Neither of us spoke. There was no need. We had spent so many hours fighting, planning, confronting enemies, and trying to protect everyone around us that the quiet between us felt almost sacred. When we finally reached our bedroom, I barely had the energy to remove my shoes.Jason closed the door behind us, and I turned toward him.For a moment, we simply looked at each other. Then I stepped into his arms.He cau

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Animals In A Barn

Amber POVJason and I didn't rush to the gates. The moment Mason informed us that a crowd had gathered outside the castle, I knew we couldn't ignore them. The president had made his accusations in front of an entire country, and allowing the rumors to spread without a response would only give his supporters more room to twist the truth. However, that didn't mean I intended to stand in front of a crowd and answer every question they shouted at me. If they wanted a response, they would receive one on my terms.Jason walked beside me as we crossed the courtyard. His hand rested lightly against my back, a quiet gesture of reassurance rather than an attempt to hurry me along. We had both been through too much recently, and neither of us was in any condition to deal with another manufactured crisis. Yet we had responsibilities, and neither of us intended to let the president dictate how we handled them."Are you sure about this?" Jason asked quietly as we approached the outer security check

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Eviction

I didn’t cry. I didn’t shake. I didn’t look back, or mourned the life and the years i will never get back, lost forever. I just went home, time to pack and say goodbye to my old life. The penthouse doors opened with biometric recognition the moment I stepped inside. Floor-to-ceiling glass. Marb

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Plan

We moved quickly through the hallway. Adrian walked behind me, gun raised, covering the corridor while I forced Henry Watson forward. The mansion was quieter than expected. Too quiet. Which meant either the guards were regrouping… or Jason was already on his way. I glanced over my shoulder.

Jason POV Marcus nearly slammed the brakes. “She shot the camera!” I leaned back slowly. Marcus looked at me. “What the hell was that?” I ran a hand over my face. “She said hello husband before she shot it.” Marcus stared. “…Okay.” Silence filled the car. “…What does that mean exactly?”

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Drama

Family drama. Honestly, I was getting tired of it. I shifted slightly in the chair, letting the ropes around my wrists rub just enough to make the guards think I was uncomfortable. In truth, they had tied them loosely—political kidnappers rarely knew how to do proper restraints. Across from me,
