DAMON’S POV

SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO

I walked out of Mother’s room after treating her wounds and shut the door behind me.

I leaned my temple against the wall and finally let out the groan I’d been holding in.

My back was sore from Father’s whip, but I didn’t want Mother to know. She was already going through enough, and I didn’t want to cause her more pain.

All my life, Father had treated me worse than he treated his men for his own reasons.

He’d beat me with belts and canes for the

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD   CHAPTER 143

GABRIELLE’S POV My breath stuttered. “What?” “You heard me,” Rhys said. “Your sister tried to kill you and my brother sacrificed himself. Again.” I’d thought the shooter was someone from his past, or maybe the people who wouldn’t let him go. I had no idea it was my sister. And Damon had taken the bullet meant for me. My chest tightened as guilt flooded me. He’d warned me to make up my mind about her fate before she tried something again, but I couldn’t bring myself to decide. I should have listened to him. He was in there fighting for his life and it was all my fault. My knees buckled, my mind still reeling from his words. “I should’ve— it’s all my fault.” “I understand it wasn’t easy to make up your mind about your sister,” Rhys said, his voice cold. “But my brother may die because of that. You understand why I can’t trust you to do the needful with Emily.” I did. God, I did. My voice came out hoarse. “W—where is she now?” Rhys was staring at me

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD   CHAPTER 142

DAMON’S POV FIFTEEN YEARS AGO [Content Warning: This chapter contains sexual assault (non-explicit), violence, identity stripping and trauma. Reader discretion is advised.] I walked after Father as he led us to the best seat, right beside the owner of the fight club. He’d claim that coming to Italy to see the underground fighting ring would be a great gift for my eighteenth birthday. The air inside the warehouse was thick with sweat, blood, and cigarette smoke. Men shouted from the stands, waving money in the air as two fighters circled each other inside the steel cage below. The owner stood when Father approached, his smile wide and eager. “Gravari,” he said, extending his hand. “It’s good to see you after all these years.” Father shook his hand. “Don’t act like you missed me, Bellini.” Rocco laughed and gestured at Father to take a seat. Father sat and leaned back in his chair. I took the seat beside him watched him suspiciously. He’d never done anythi

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD   CHAPTER 141

GABRIELLE’S POV The blood on my hands had already dried, but I still couldn’t stop staring at it. Damon had been in surgery for hours. And no one would tell me if he was going to live… or not. My heart squeezed. I didn’t even want to consider the second option but every minute stretched endlessly, and with each second, the fear that Damon might not wake grew heavier. He was fighting for his life behind those doors. And I was standing outside them, carrying his child and wondering if our baby would grow up without a father. Fiorella’s shaky voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “You must be thirsty. I’ll get you some water.” I nodded, my throat still sore from screaming. She left, and I pressed a trembling hand against my stomach before breaking into a sob again. I looked up again at the double doors leading to the operating room as if staring hard enough would make them open. They didn’t. “…have you arrested for stopping me,” I suddenly heard a familiar voice outside

He’d beat me with belts and canes for the slightest offenses when I was younger, and sometimes, Mother would cover my body with hers, taking his hits in my place. From the corner of my eye, I saw Rhys standing in the hallway, watching me. Since his arrival five days ago, Father had become even worse—if that was possible—and I’d grown to resent him despite knowing it wasn’t his fault. He was just a victim like I was. Like Mother was. Regardless, I couldn’t help but snap at him. “What?” He blinked and shrank further into the

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD   CHAPTER 139

GABRIELLE’S POV I gasped when Damon grabbed my thighs and spread them wider. I clung to the tree, but my back slid against the rough bark with every movement, my knees weakening. Damon noticed and lifted my thighs over his shoulders, his gaze locking with mine, and his breath warm against my core. “Comfortable now?” I nodded, my throat too tight to speak. The moment his tongue touched my clit again, the world tilted. My hips jerked automatically. “Oh—” His lips were soft, gentle—but his tongue was anything but. It circled my clit fast and mercilessly while his fingers moved in and out of me. “Oh, yes,” I moaned. He took his time, savoring me, making sure he didn’t miss a single part, his teeth grazing me lightly now and then. My head was spinning. I arched my back, trying to pull away, but his grip on my thighs tightened. He hummed against me, groaning as he swallowed every drop of my wetness. God, the sound he was making— My orgasm slammed into me so

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD   CHAPTER 138

GABRIELLE’S POVI love you Gabrielle.I froze. He finally said it. He pressed his temple against mine. “I thought loving you would make me weak, would make my sanity depend on you—and it does—but being strong doesn’t matter if you’re not in my life.”A single tear slid down my cheek. His thumb reached to wipe it away. “I love you so much it terrifies me. You mean everything to me. And I know I hurt you—”I shook my head, my temple rubbing against his. “No—”“I know I did,” he cut me off. “And I’m sorry I did. I’m sorry I’m so… damaged. You deserve better and I want to be that for you. I want to make things right.”Another tear followed until I burst into a sob. Slowly, he went on his knees, his arms right around my waist. “I’ll do anything to show you that you’re the only thing that matters.”Nothing could have prepared me for the warmth that spread through my chest at the sight of him on his knees, groveling and begging to make things right. I swallowed the lump in my throat, my
