Isabella's POV

I woke up the next day feeling a bit relieved. Camilla had the signed recognition agreement and document.

She hadn’t sent the videos yet, but she didn't summon me again. But the silence was worse. It felt like she was letting me stew, letting the fear build until I begged her to punish me just to feel something else.

Mom was arriving in two weeks' time; Claire’s wedding was the next week. The clock was ticking so loudly I could hear it in my pulse.

I knocked on Maria’s door at 5

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    The Line You Cross

Isabella’s POVThe hallway air pressed against my skin, thick and unmoving. I stood there, pulse beating steady in my throat, then turned away from the direction Marcus had gone. My feet carried me forward before my thoughts could catch up.Their voices drifted out before I reached the doorway.“…she’s not avoiding you,” Claire said.“It damn well feels like it,” Lucas answered, voice low and edged. “Every time we get close, she slips away. I’m tired of half-truths.”I stepped into the room. Both heads snapped toward me. Claire’s shoulders eased. Lucas’s posture locked tight, jaw flexing once as his eyes met mine.“I’m not giving half-answers anymore,” I said.Claire glanced between us, then offered a small nod. “I’ll give you two some space.” She brushed past, her fingers grazing my arm lightly before she disappeared down the hall. The door clicked shut. The silence that followed sat heavy between us.Lucas straightened, arms loose at his sides but hands half-curled. “You look like y

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    The Line She Drew

Isabella’s POVMarcus didn’t move closer, and for once I was grateful. The distance felt necessary, like the only thing keeping the moment from slipping into something else again. His eyes stayed on my face, searching, patient, but there was something restless underneath it.“You look like you didn’t sleep,” he said.“I didn’t.”He nodded slowly. “I figured.”Silence sat between us for a second, not awkward, just heavy with everything from yesterday still hanging in the air.“You said we’d talk,” he added.“We will.”“Okay,” he said, shifting his weight slightly. “Then talk to me.”I drew in a breath, but it didn’t settle anything. My thoughts felt sharp, like they’d been circling all night and still hadn’t found a place to land.“I meant what I said,” I started. “About not doing this the same way anymore.”His brows pulled together a little. “Meaning?”“Meaning I can’t keep letting things… overlap,” I said carefully. “With you. With Lucas. With everything.”Marcus held my gaze. “So w

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    The Choice That Waits

Isabella’s POVI didn’t sleep.I lay on my side, staring at the thin line of light pushing through the curtains, listening to the house breathe around me. Doors opening somewhere far down the hall. Footsteps. Voices that dipped low when they passed my door. The world kept moving, but my body felt stuck between moments.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw their faces.Lucas on the terrace, jaw tight, voice steady even when it hurt.Marcus in the garden, warm, sure, like he had already decided what I meant to him.And me—standing in the middle, saying nothing that actually solved anything.I turned onto my back and pressed my palm against my stomach. A small, quiet reminder of something real.“Okay,” I whispered to the ceiling. “Okay.”A soft knock came at the door, I didn’t answer right away. It came again.“Isabella?”Claire.I pushed myself up slowly. “Come in.”She stepped inside, already dressed, already composed. There was something different about her this morning. Not calm exactl

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    Fault Lines

Isabella’s POVThe night settled slowly, like it didn’t want to disturb anything.Lucas stayed beside me on the terrace, quiet, steady, the warmth of his presence close but careful. Not touching. Not reaching. Just there. The space between us felt intentional now, like something fragile sat in it and neither of us wanted to break it again.I wrapped my fingers around the cup of tea, though it had already gone cold.“You should drink it,” he said after a while.I glanced down at it. “It’s cold.”“I can get you another.”“No… it’s fine.”Neither of us moved. The ocean stretched out in front of us, dark now, the sound of the waves filling in the silence we didn’t know how to handle yet. The air had cooled, but my skin still felt too warm, like everything inside me hadn’t settled.Lucas leaned forward slightly, resting his forearms on his knees. “Did he touch you?”The question came out quiet, not angry. Just… direct. My grip tightened around the cup. “Marcus?”He didn’t look at me. “Yeah

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    Broken Echoes

Isabella’s POVThe afternoon sun dipped lower, casting long shadows across the garden. I stayed on the bench long after Marcus left, my fingers tracing the edge of the stone, still warm from his touch. My mind spun in circles, his words, his promise, the way his kiss on my hand had lingered. It felt safe. Exciting. But Lucas’s face kept flashing in my thoughts, the way he had held me when the results came in, the quiet strength in his voice when he said he wanted to do this right.I stood up slowly, brushing dirt from my dress, and walked back toward the house. The terrace was quiet now, most guests gone. Claire sat at one of the tables, flipping through a small notebook, making notes for the honeymoon. She looked up when she saw me and smiled.“You disappeared for a while,” she said. “Everything okay?”I sat across from her, my hands folding in my lap. “Marcus found me in the garden. He… he told me he’s ready. That he’s the one who truly loves me. He asked if I love Lucas. I told him

  • HOUSE OF FORBIDDEN DESIRE    Heartstrings and Hidden Truths

Isabella’s POVI woke up super relieved after my announcement yesterday. I felt like a huge burden had been lifted off my chest.Lucas had stayed the night, sleeping on the couch in my room because he didn’t want to leave me alone. We had talked until the early hours, soft words about the baby, about how scared we both were, about how we would figure this out together. He had kissed my forehead before I finally fell asleep, his hand resting protectively on my belly. But now, as the sun climbed higher, the quiet felt fragile. I was in the garden, trying to find a moment of peace among the flowers that had decorated Claire’s wedding. The scent of roses still lingered in the air. I sat on the stone bench, my hands folded in my lap, thinking about the tiny life growing inside me. Lucas’s baby. The thought made my heart flutter in a way that was both beautiful and terrifying.Footsteps on the gravel path made me look up. Marcus was walking toward me, his hands in his pockets, that familia
