Chloe's POV****
The last few years have taught me so much, that I could not deal with it. After I left town to start a new life, although I knew it was going to be difficult for me, I never expected the brutal life that I had to go through. Pregnant with twins, I was forced to work three jobs at a time, and after they were born, it was not an easy life for me. Yet, it was my quest for revenge that had kept me going, each time that I thought about Lyon and Chloe, I knew that I badly wanted to make it. The pain is still fresh in my heart, piercing deeply with each thought of it. But now so much had changed, even the city with the way they talked about the wedding of Mr. Richard Jones. Richard Jones seemed to be one of the most wealthy men in town, his company had several branches and his production was something that everyone looked up to. Since the death of his wife six years ago, there have been several speculations made regarding his marital status, there have also been rumors on several occasions about him getting married. Each time he was seen with a celebrity or a public figure, many had guessed they were the ones he was getting married to, he had been forced to talk about his marital status at each interview, and each time, he had always reminded them that he had no intention of getting married, his only aim was to build his company and become more successful. But after six years, Mr. Richard, who was in his late Forties had come out to announce that he would be getting married, and yet no one knew the identity of his bride, so much speculation had been made and yet no one had been able to make the right guess. Every single woman wanted it to be her, getting married to the richest man in town, and while I glanced at the screen of my phone with the speculations that were going on, a wide grin had spread through my lips. “Ma'am, how would you like your makeup to be?” The makeup artist who had been patient with me as she stood there watching me slide through my phone finally asked. I tucked my phone away, my gaze directly at the mirror before me, staring at my reflection. “I don't know, I want something mean” “Mean?” She parted her lips, her eyes staring at me perplexed. “What do you mean ma'am?” She asked no doubt that she needed clarity, the confusion on her face was amusing while I tried not to laugh. “I want something pretty, speaks confidence, sharp, and wow everyone!” I instructed hoping that with the clarity, she would finally understand what I wanted, but she only seemed to have gotten more confused. She stared blankly at me for a while before a smile swept through her lips. “I think I know what you need” And with that, she commenced work, her hand applying and parting my face with a series of makeup. All this while, I had my eyes shut, not staring at the mirror even for a second until she was finally done. “Ma'am, you can go ahead and open your eyes” As I lifted my lid, I was taken aback by the transformation staring back at me. My eyes widened in astonishment as for a moment, I doubted if that was truly me. The makeup artist had done magic on my face, her precision was accurate with the way she shimmered my eyelids with a subtle color. Everything about the makeup was what I had imagined it to be, judging by the look on my face, it was obvious that she knew I was impressed. “What do you think?” She asked but I ignored her question. Getting up from where I had sat all this while, I swirled around in my white flowery dress. “It's perfect, everything is perfect!” That was all that I needed to say to get a smile crept through her face. “It's your day, I am glad that you love it” She muttered before sprinting away. As I stood before the large hall where several guests from across the globe had all honored the invitation, first I felt nervous, slowly fiddling with my fingers. There was so much going on in my mind, I had no idea what to expect or how everyone was going to react, but I knew that I was ready, I was ready from the moment that I agreed to this marriage. “Let the bride in!” They announced everyone rose to their feet, their gaze fixed at the entrance, showing their curiosity to the identity of the bride, and as I stepped onto the hall, my wedding gown, flowed down as it swept the floor. My gaze went straight to the Altar, there was Richard fully dressed in a suit and awaiting my arrival, with each time that I took, I could see the envy in their eyes, like they wanted to take the veil away from me and place it on themselves. But just then, my eyes had locked with Lyon, I hadn't seen him since the divorce, his gaze widened, his jaws dropping to the ground. His eyes were consumed with both surprise and rage I hadn't seen in years, and even since I came back to town, somehow I had been looking forward to the first meeting with him. All this while, I had thought about what my first meeting with Lyon was going to be after Five years and indeed it was everything that I had imagined. First, I could see the admiration in his eyes, and then there was jealousy mixed with rage. I was getting married to his boss, that was a lot for his gut to take. My gaze slowly trails down to the female figure standing next to him, there were dark circles around her eyelid, no doubt that life wasn't treating her the way she had anticipated. I hope she has finally given enough children to Lyon! Beneath all of that was the fury looming in their eyes, what better revenge than the fact that I was getting married to his boss, he was angry about that and yet there was nothing he could do about it. To be continued!CHLOE'S POVI walked into the office with quiet steps, though my heels clicked against the marble floor like soft echoes of the chaos we’d just come out of. The scent of fresh polish, the hum of the AC, the quiet murmurs of staff — it all felt familiar, yet different at the same time. Like I had left a version of myself behind and returned as someone entirely new.I glanced around the space, taking it in. Richard had managed to change everything in the office to my taste, completely eradicating Lyon's existence from it, still, it's the same office that had seen me broken and reborn. And today, I was no longer walking in as the woman who had something to prove. I was simply...me — Chloe Jones, a mother, a wife, and a managing director.Forgiving Richard hadn’t been instant and it wasn't easy either. My pride resisted, held tight to the pain of his disbelief, but when the dust settled, the noise in my heart did the same as well.I kept asking myself: what if I had told him everything
LYON'S POVThe judge walked up to his seat, adjusted his robe, and cleared his throat. "Be seated..." He commanded in a clear tone. He was an aged man, but his voice didn't seem like he was way past his mid-fifties.We all sat, the scrape of chairs echoing across the silent room. My heart pounded hard against my ribcage, but I kept my face blank. All eyes were on the defendants now — Dragon sat with a smug smirk like this was some street game, this surely, wasn't his first time here. While Sherry, on the other hand, looked pale with hollow eyes, barely clinging to dignity in her wrinkled designer suit. The charges were read out loud."Attempted murder… tampering with private vehicle… illegal entry into a school premises… exposure of minors to threat… defamation of character… conspiracy to destroy a company’s reputation..."The charges were many, with each charge landing like a hammer.I watched Chloe closely from my seat behind her, expecting a reaction from her. But she didn’t flinch
DRAGON'S POVThe cold metal chair beneath me creaked as I shifted slightly, adjusting my weight on it. The room was still with gray walls, harsh lighting, and a camera blinking red in the corner.Across from me sat two detectives with stoic expressions, but I was unfazed. I've seen faces like this countless times. One of the officers was scribbling in a notepad; the other just stared, probably the one to interrogate me."State your full name." One of them said, his cold gaze locking into mine.I rolled my eyes. "You already know who I am. I'm a regular here; stop asking unnecessary questions.""Formality..." The officer pointed out sternly. "Start talking, or we’ll be here all day."I leaned back, a smirk on my lips. I wasn’t new to this, and this wasn’t some back-alley street fight or dirty job; this was different."She started it..." I said plainly. "The little miss classy whore — Sherry."They exchanged glances, expecting me to say more, well, I will — I just needed a small pause.
RICHARD'S POVThe room was packed, the air would have stiffened but there were enough air conditioners, providing ventilation. Journalists, camera crews, investors, staff — everyone who had watched the chaos unfold over the past few weeks now sat in stiff, waiting silence. A dozen microphones pointed at me like weapons. Flashing lights burst in my face, but I didn’t blink.I adjusted the mic."My name is Richard Jones, CEO of The Jones Company." I began with an even voice. "And today, I take full responsibility for my silence, my delay in judgment, and the damage caused to the integrity of this company — and more importantly, to a woman who has only ever given her best."A ripple of murmurs moved through the crowd."A recent viral video made by one Mr. Damian ‘Dragon’ Cruz has exposed a malicious campaign orchestrated by himself and Ms. Sherry. Their aim was simple: to ruin the image of Chloe Jones — my wife, and the rightful Managing Director of this company."I took a breath, locki
RICHARD'S POVI stood at the door, silently watching her. Chloe was kneeling on the living room rug with Ryan and Penny, helping them build what looked like a spaceship out of plastic blocks. Her laughter, soft and rare these days, echoed in my chest, it sounded like a memory I feared was slipping away.Penny giggled as Chloe tickled her side, and even Ryan cracked a small smile. They looked... whole, but I wasn't in that picture, it was like I was the outsider in my own home. That realization hurt more than I expected.DraftI used to be the man Chloe trusted — the one she leaned on, smiled at, teased over dinner. Now? I was just the man who doubted her. The man who, even if for a moment, believed the lies and didn't trust her silence enough.I cleared my throat. "Uh... Chloe, can we talk?" I asked, hoping for a response from her, and I did get it.She glanced up, her smile fading as quickly as it came and she rose gracefully, dusting her hands on her pants. "Kids, go wash up. Dinn
SHERRY'S POVThe room stank of mildew with a single bulb buzzing overhead, flickering like it, too, was unsure if it wanted to keep going. I shut the creaky door behind me and tossed my face cap to the floor like it offended me.Finally. Air. Fresh and uninterrupted air.I hadn’t taken a real breath in days, not since the video leaked — not since the day I watched my name get dragged like trash across every social platform. I used to trend for my outfits and sharp comebacks, the perfect body figure I got from going to the gym daily, and placing myself on a diet. But now? It was for nothing other than shame, laughter, and pity. And worst of all — silence from Dragon.I had walked half the city to avoid eyes, cameras, judgment. I couldn't even walk with my head raised up like I used to, I had to put on face caps to cover my shame. Now I was holed up in this dingy inn like a criminal, I was tired, cold, and absolutely terrified.I slumped onto the bed, pulling the frayed blanket over m
