Lyra's POV.

My feet grazing across the rocks was the highlight of my day because it gave me ample time to think about what this could cost me and even though I kept thinking I couldn't place my finger on one exact thing that was going to make me happy.

Instead it was a numerous amount of things compounding to make everything miserable.

Camille was out of the door immediately when she spotted me and sometimes I wondered why she felt so connected to me even though I knew that it was because she was trying to keep her head above the water.

"I don't know what exactly this is but I'm so happy to see you back again. How have you been coping so far?" She gushed.

Her eyes strayed not so subtly at my companion telling me that there were even more underlying problems than they would have wanted to show which was quite enough for me to deal with.
