CHAPTER 23

Angelina POV

"I don't want that!" I stuttered and shook my head quickly. "I mean you said it's a celebration mood, we should meet with others."

He was still watching me. "You are so obvious when you lie."

My eyes thinned on him. What?

"So, why did you think I know something about your dead wife then?"

His face slowly turned to a dark frown. I knew mentioning his wife was a sensitive topic and I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it. But I just couldn't help it.

He slowly let me go and turned away. "I'm sure you weren't lying but I needed you to find out from your father."

"My father didn't do it! Why can't you see that?"

"You can't really trust someone you haven't seen for two years," he muttered and laid back in the cubicle.

My eyes widened with shock. How did he know that?

I decided not to question him any more. I wouldn't want him to get angry. It was a joyous day after all and I was starting to enjoy this other side of him.

"So, are we going to be at any gathering today?" I decided
