THANE'S POV
“I, Alpha Thane of the Tiger wood blood pack, take back my rejection.” I said. As soon as I took back my rejection, I noticed something strange started happening. I suddenly started hearing the cracking of Bones and when I looked closely, I noticed that she was starting to shift. “But how, the first time I saw her, I could swear that she was not a shifter but how come she is shifting now??” I asked myself in confusion. “Mate is unique…she is not as weak as you thought.” my wolf said. “The fact that she is shifting doesn't change my mindset on the fact that she is still a weakling.” I said. I gently placed her back down on the ground as I observed what would happen next. Her body suddenly began to twist, her limbs elongating and her muscles rippling beneath her skin. Her clothes suddenly got torn and ripped, unable to contain her wolf from emerging. In a matter of moments, a towering werewolf emerged with silver furs that glowed like embers. It's chest heaved, it's fur fluffed by the breeze as I looked on in shock on seeing how distinctive her wolf was. “Mate is so beautiful.” My wolf said as I could sense his excitement. “No, this can't be…I have never seen any wolf as unique as this in my entire life as an Alpha and this could pose a big threat to me.” I said. “You should be grateful the moon goddess blessed you with a beautiful and unique wolf but instead, you are saying she poses a threat to you??? what exactly are you thinking???!!” “If she ever finds out she knows how to shift into her wolf form, she could rebel against me and I will not be able to carry out my revenge plan on her.” I said. “Take a close look at her, does she look like someone who could ever rebel against you??? Unless you are saying you are a weak Alpha and probably incompetent.” “Watch your words shawn!!!” I said in anger to my wolf. I knew that she was too weak at the moment to be able to rebel against me but I was still not ready to take any risk. “What are you going to do about mate now?? Remember you have already taken back your rejection.” My wolf said. “What I do with Tyla should not be any of your concern Shawn.” “She is our mate and not yours alone so whatever you do with her is a part of my concern too.” My wolf said. “You don't get to tell me what to do Shawn.” I said as I blocked him out. After a while, I noticed Tyla shifted back into her human form but was completely naked. Knowing fully well her clothes were already destroyed, I pulled off my shirt and carefully wore it on her. As much as she had so many ugly and unpleasant marks, both healed up and new ones on her body, it didn't stop me from admiring her petite body and she stirred softly as I was done putting the shirt on her. I carried her bridal style again as I headed back to the pack but this time around, I took her to the pack house as I didn't want her escaping for the second time. As soon as I got back to the pack house, I saw my beta gazing weirdly at me. “Speak!!!” “You brought her back again??!!!” Rico exclaimed. “And how is that any of your business???” “I can smell that she is going to be trouble Alpha, a huge one at that.” “I ask again Rico, how is that your business??? Is she your mate??? Or an acquaintance of yours??” “No Alpha.” “Then whatever I do or choose to do with her shouldn't be any of your business….get me the housekeeper.” I said. “Yes Alpha.” he said as he walked away. A few minutes later, the lady I put in charge of taking care of the pack house walked over to me but before she greeted, she had the same weird expression that my beta had on his face earlier on as she looked at Tyla who was still unconscious in my arms. I cleared my throat as she bowed her head. “I apologize Alpha.” She said. “I need you to do something for me.” I said. “What is it, Alpha???” “I need you to take her to your room, take proper care of her and make sure she gets back in full health and while you do so, do not let anyone know of her presence here in the pack house especially my Mother and Brother.” I said. I noticed the expression on her face suddenly changed into a fearful one as I gave her those instructions. “What's with that look on your face??” She suddenly knelt down as her head remained bowed. “I am deeply sorry Alpha but I don’t think I can be able to do as you have asked.” she said. “What the hell do you mean by that??!!!” I thundered in anger. “I can take very good care of her Alpha and nurture her to full health but I can't hide her identity from your Mother or brother because they know everything that goes on in and out of this pack house.” “You don't have to worry about my Mother or Brother…. just keep taking care of her until she recovers and if they find out about her, then tell them I asked you to take care of her for me.” I said. “Alright Alpha, I will do as You have asked…thank you.” Suddenly I could sense that someone was coming with my wolf senses and the person was already very close by. “Take her and leave now!!” I commanded. The housekeeper took Tyla from my arms and zoomed off and as soon as she did, someone tapped my shoulder. “Who were you speaking to son???”THANE'S POV “Your precious mate is under my care…if you want to see her and your unborn child again, meet me at the glass hour pack before dawn tomorrow and come alone….your Father, Hyperion.”The once proud Alpha of the Pack now sat in the center of his hollowed-out soul, the weight of a kingdom's fate balanced against the heart that beat only for her as he kept on reading the note Hyperion had sent over and over again.Tyla.Gone.Taken.By the one man whose blood Thane now regretted sharing….Alpha Hyperion.Thane stood before the tall, frosted window of his chamber, his jaw clenched and his knuckles white. The echo of the message haunted him. Thane didn’t tell Rico and he didn’t tell Emmy. He didn’t tell the pack members or anyone as no one could talk him out of it. He wore silence like armor, because anything less would break him apart. He left before dawn. The path leading to the forbidden ruins was littered with shadows. Winds howled through the trees like ancient spirits
THANE'S POV I sat down in my study as the sun Shone brightly into it.I was restless and I didn't know what to do or how to calm myself. I stared at the map laid out before me..borders, routes, possible enemy territories and all of it blurred in my vision as a storm brewed in my chest. None of it mattered if the root of all this madness, Hyperion was still breathing.I suddenly mind linked Rico.“Alpha?? Is there a problem??" Rico asked.“Come to my study now." I said."I will be there right away.” He said as I ended the mind link.A few minutes later, I heard the door swing open, and Rico walked in, stiff and unreadable as usual.“You sent for me?” he asked.I nodded, motioning for him to sit, though I remained standing as my mind was too restless.“I’m thinking of going to see Hyperion,” I said plainly.Rico blinked and then he laughed. “Good one, Alpha…you almost got me.”“I’m not joking.” I said as the room fell deathly still. Rico sat up straighter, the smile vanishing from
WRITER'S POV Celeste's heart had been troubled since Bridget's visit. She couldn't understand the reason why Bridget's heart burned with so much hatred for Emmy and Tyla and especially the pack. She knew that If Bridget was ready to ask her, a new member of the pack to join her in her quest, then she must have done worse things. She hadn’t slept well in days. Too much was happening, and none of it felt safe.Celeste stood by the tall window of her chambers, watching the sky darken with gathering storm clouds. A storm was coming…in more ways than one.The door creaked open without a knock. She didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.The air shifted when he entered…Sharp…. Controlled….Cold.Aurelius, Her mate whom they haven't shared any physical or emotional contact with.“What do you want?” she asked flatly, eyes still fixed on the clouds. He didn’t answer immediately. She heard the door click shut behind him, then his footsteps moved closer. He stopped halfway across the r
TYLA'S POV The walls of the clinic room felt colder than ever. Not because the temperature dropped, but because my heart had. Everything inside me was numb, like someone had ripped out the air and replaced it with grief, confusion, and fear. I sat up slowly, hugging my knees to my chest, careful not to press too hard on my belly. Even the thought of it…a pup…made my stomach twist in a knot. Why now? Why in the middle of chaos? Why with so many enemies still out there?I buried my face into my knees and let the tears fall. I didn’t try to stop them…there was no one here to pretend for. No one to hide the truth from.“You’re being too hard on yourself,” came a soft voice in my head.I blinked in confusion. “Lyra?” I whispered. It was on rare occasions Lyra spoke to me without me speaking to her first and so I was shocked that she said something to me.“Yes, it’s me.” my wolf replied gently.“I’ve been quiet, giving you time to feel but now, I think it’s time to talk.”I wiped my
THANE'S POV The sterile scent of the pack clinic clung to my nose like smoke.I paced back and forth beside Tyla’s bed with a worried look on my face. Her face, pale against the white pillow, looked so fragile it twisted my insides.Emmy had excused himself earlier…he said he had some things to handle. I didn’t ask questions because my focus was entirely on her.My mate.My Luna.My Tyla. And now… the mother of my child.A sentence I still couldn’t wrap my head around.Pregnant.The word echoed in my head over and over. It should have made me happy, excited even but with everything going on, Hyperion breathing down our necks, Bridget scheming in the shadows, traitors hiding in plain sight, this felt more like a curse than a blessing.A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in.” I said, my voice low and tight.Rico walked in, shutting the door behind him. He looked around briefly, his gaze settling on Tyla before turning to me.“You sent for me?”I nodded, rubbi
THANE'S POV My hand connected with soft skin before I even realized what was happening. The shock of it hit me the same time Tyla’s body did, falling to the floor like a delicate leaf cut from its branch.“Tyla!” I dropped to my knees beside her, the anger draining out of me like a tide leaving the shore. Blood was trickling from a cut near her forehead as her eyes were slowly closing and the worst part was that she wasn’t moving.“Damn it!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Why did you get in the way?!”“She tried to stop you from hitting me.” Emmy said quietly behind me.I turned on him with rage still burning behind my eyes. “Don’t touch her!” I growled when he reached forward. “This is all your fault!”Emmy’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t say anything. I scooped Tyla into my arms gently, bridal style, feeling her body limp and warm against me.“Move!” I barked at Emmy, pushing past him.The hallway blurred as I rushed her to the pack clinic. I didn’t care that people were stari
