THANE'S POV
“I, Alpha Thane of the Tiger wood blood pack, take back my rejection.” I said. As soon as I took back my rejection, I noticed something strange started happening. I suddenly started hearing the cracking of Bones and when I looked closely, I noticed that she was starting to shift. “But how, the first time I saw her, I could swear that she was not a shifter but how come she is shifting now??” I asked myself in confusion. “Mate is unique…she is not as weak as you thought.” my wolf said. “The fact that she is shifting doesn't change my mindset on the fact that she is still a weakling.” I said. I gently placed her back down on the ground as I observed what would happen next. Her body suddenly began to twist, her limbs elongating and her muscles rippling beneath her skin. Her clothes suddenly got torn and ripped, unable to contain her wolf from emerging. In a matter of moments, a towering werewolf emerged with silver furs that glowed like embers. It's chest heaved, it's fur fluffed by the breeze as I looked on in shock on seeing how distinctive her wolf was. “Mate is so beautiful.” My wolf said as I could sense his excitement. “No, this can't be…I have never seen any wolf as unique as this in my entire life as an Alpha and this could pose a big threat to me.” I said. “You should be grateful the moon goddess blessed you with a beautiful and unique wolf but instead, you are saying she poses a threat to you??? what exactly are you thinking???!!” “If she ever finds out she knows how to shift into her wolf form, she could rebel against me and I will not be able to carry out my revenge plan on her.” I said. “Take a close look at her, does she look like someone who could ever rebel against you??? Unless you are saying you are a weak Alpha and probably incompetent.” “Watch your words shawn!!!” I said in anger to my wolf. I knew that she was too weak at the moment to be able to rebel against me but I was still not ready to take any risk. “What are you going to do about mate now?? Remember you have already taken back your rejection.” My wolf said. “What I do with Tyla should not be any of your concern Shawn.” “She is our mate and not yours alone so whatever you do with her is a part of my concern too.” My wolf said. “You don't get to tell me what to do Shawn.” I said as I blocked him out. After a while, I noticed Tyla shifted back into her human form but was completely naked. Knowing fully well her clothes were already destroyed, I pulled off my shirt and carefully wore it on her. As much as she had so many ugly and unpleasant marks, both healed up and new ones on her body, it didn't stop me from admiring her petite body and she stirred softly as I was done putting the shirt on her. I carried her bridal style again as I headed back to the pack but this time around, I took her to the pack house as I didn't want her escaping for the second time. As soon as I got back to the pack house, I saw my beta gazing weirdly at me. “Speak!!!” “You brought her back again??!!!” Rico exclaimed. “And how is that any of your business???” “I can smell that she is going to be trouble Alpha, a huge one at that.” “I ask again Rico, how is that your business??? Is she your mate??? Or an acquaintance of yours??” “No Alpha.” “Then whatever I do or choose to do with her shouldn't be any of your business….get me the housekeeper.” I said. “Yes Alpha.” he said as he walked away. A few minutes later, the lady I put in charge of taking care of the pack house walked over to me but before she greeted, she had the same weird expression that my beta had on his face earlier on as she looked at Tyla who was still unconscious in my arms. I cleared my throat as she bowed her head. “I apologize Alpha.” She said. “I need you to do something for me.” I said. “What is it, Alpha???” “I need you to take her to your room, take proper care of her and make sure she gets back in full health and while you do so, do not let anyone know of her presence here in the pack house especially my Mother and Brother.” I said. I noticed the expression on her face suddenly changed into a fearful one as I gave her those instructions. “What's with that look on your face??” She suddenly knelt down as her head remained bowed. “I am deeply sorry Alpha but I don’t think I can be able to do as you have asked.” she said. “What the hell do you mean by that??!!!” I thundered in anger. “I can take very good care of her Alpha and nurture her to full health but I can't hide her identity from your Mother or brother because they know everything that goes on in and out of this pack house.” “You don't have to worry about my Mother or Brother…. just keep taking care of her until she recovers and if they find out about her, then tell them I asked you to take care of her for me.” I said. “Alright Alpha, I will do as You have asked…thank you.” Suddenly I could sense that someone was coming with my wolf senses and the person was already very close by. “Take her and leave now!!” I commanded. The housekeeper took Tyla from my arms and zoomed off and as soon as she did, someone tapped my shoulder. “Who were you speaking to son???”TYLA'S POVI didn't need a seer to tell me that staying at this strange pack depended solely on smartness and survival skills and I planned on staying for the time being and so I found myself at the place where I was initially assigned a duty, the kitchen.I wiped my hands on the apron and stepped back from the sink. It felt strange being back in a pack’s kitchen, surrounded by the smells of onions, herbs, and burnt toast. The laughter and clatter of pans from the other cooks filled the room, but none of it truly reached me…It was only noise, to cover the chaos in my head. The words of the seer still echoed in my mind. The bond... not broken... the full moon...and the safety of my unborn pup.I couldn’t think about it now and I couldn’t allow myself to drown in it again and so I focused on the task in front of me. I stirred the stew on the stove and glanced over my shoulder at the group of women gossiping near the pantry."...they say he hasn’t smiled since she died." one of them w
THANE'S POV I honestly didn't have the time to think through my decision before implementing it.I just wanted to do everything within my power to get my mate back and although I know it would be difficult because at that point, I had no idea if Tyla would want to even accept me back but it was worth trying. The next person I knew I needed to speak to was my mother.I stood outside my mother’s chamber, the heavy oak door closed between us like a barrier forged from my own guilt. It had been days since she woke from that induced sleep or should I call it coma…days since I made that decision…the one that cost me Tyla.I clenched my fists as I took a sharp deep breath. I had to face her.I knocked lightly."Enter." She said with her voice calm but stern.I stepped inside. The room still smelled like the herbs the healer used to treat her, but it was brighter now. She sat by the window, sunlight casting lines across her aging yet regal face. Her eyes lifted to meet mine."Mother." I
TYLA'S POV After leaving the prison cell, I couldn’t stop thinking about the seer’s words. His voice echoed in my mind like a haunting lullaby I couldn’t silence."Your child is not dead, Tyla…Merely asleep."How could that be? I had heard it from the healer herself. I had felt the cold void in my womb but something inside me, something small and desperate clung to the possibility that he was right and that my baby still breathed within me, waiting for something… someone.I paced back and forth in my room, trying to make sense of it all. My thoughts tangled like vines in the forest. Thane’s rejection, the pain of the loss, the fear of the unknown and now, this spark of hope from a man locked away and forgotten.A soft knock at the door interrupted the storm in my head."Tyla?" Maren’s voice came through the wooden door. "Can I come in?"I hesitated before answering. "Yes."She stepped in, her wild curls tied back today, and her green eyes soft with concern."You’ve been quiet s
BRIDGET'S POV As Emmy held my arm and pulled me out of Thane's study, I got more angry."You should have stayed out of it, Emmy!" I hissed as he continued pulling me out of Thane’s study, his grip firm but not painful. Still, it made my skin crawl."You were going to get yourself killed in there!" Emmy growled, slamming the door behind us."So what?! At least I wouldn’t be dragged around like some helpless fool! You always think you can swoop in and fix everything like some noble savior….Newsflash, Emmy, I don't need saving!"He turned to face me, eyes blazing. Emmy was beginning to piss me off and I had to do something about it."You don't need saving? Bridget, you're on the edge of a cliff and you're too damn blind to see it! Thane’s this close to snapping and you're poking him like he’s a sleeping bear…What the hell were you thinking?!""I was thinking that someone needed to remind him who he is! That this pack isn't about him and his sob stories!""You have done enough," he sa
THANE'S POV Ever since my mother awoke from the antidote's effects, she hadn't spoken much to me. Her silence carried weight…a sharp, cold disapproval that pierced deeper than any words could. Every time she looked at me, I could see it in her eye disappointment, Disgust and perhaps most painful of all, heartbreak.I sat in my study, my hands clenched into fists on the table. The room was quiet except for the faint rustling of paper and the murmurs outside. The news had spread throughout the pack…They all knew. They knew I had rejected Tyla. They knew she had been pregnant. They knew she'd vanished, possibly hurt or worse.I could feel their eyes on me when I walked through the pack lands. Eyes that once looked to me with pride and loyalty now brimmed with judgment and suspicion. Whispers followed me like shadows."The Alpha rejected his pregnant mate.""Can you imagine the disgrace?""How could he do that to her?"I didn’t blame them as it was all my fault and I deserved whate
TYLA'S POV "There’s something... someone... you need to see.”I tried to find out more information of who it was that wanted to see me but all I got was silence. The silence in the corridor was thick as the guard led me through dimly lit stone hallways. My fingers were numb, and though my feet moved, my thoughts remain frozen on the words the Beta had spoken: "There’s someone you need to see."The guard didn’t say a word as we walked away. I tried asking him questions again but he remained tight-lipped, only gesturing with his chin for me to follow.Eventually, we reached a thick iron door guarded by two men. One of them gave me a curious look before unlocking the door. The hinges groaned as it opened, revealing a small cell lit by a single torch mounted on the wall.Inside sat a man…old, with a scruffy gray beard and deep lines etched into his dark skin. His eyes, however, were anything but old. They sparkled like twin moons, alive and knowing. He looked up the moment I steppe
