THANE’S POV
As soon as Alpha Crane hit Tyla across her face the first time, I growled deeply in anger as my wolf threatened to come out. I know I rejected her as my mate but for some weird reasons, I still felt possessive over her and so when he hit her the second time and she fell to the ground unconscious with blood slipping out of her mouth, I lost it. “Is she dead??” One of the elders seated in the living room said. “ leave her alone!!!” I yelled in anger as I walked towards her. “Who are you to tell me what to do???” Alpha Crane asked. I almost told everyone that Tyla was my mate but the fact that I rejected her stopped me from doing so and besides, she was only a pack slave and wasn't worth anything. “Take mate out of here.” My wolf said. “I don't fucking want her around me.” I responded to him. “If you leave her here, she will die.” He said again. As much as I didn't want to agree with my wolf, he was right. I looked at Tyla lying on the floor looking so frail and also looking sick like someone who had been starved for the longest of time. “I want her.” I said to Alpha Crane. I knew I was going to regret my decision later on but I needed to do what needed to be done. “What???” “I Said I want her….I want to take her to my pack to serve there as my slave.” I said. “She is already a slave here.” Alpha Crane bit out. “I know that and I am willing to pay any amount of money for her.” I said. “Alpha, what exactly are you doing???” My beta whispered beside me in my ears. “I want her and I am going to take her with me to the pack.” “But you rejected her so why paying any amount for one who was rejected???” “You are crossing the line.” I said as I growled at my beta. “Apologies Alpha.” “Did you say any amount???” Alpha Crane asked. I could see the desperation in his eyes and I knew he loved money so it wasn't going to be difficult bargaining with him. And just like that, I was on my way back to my pack with Tyla after paying a huge amount of money for her. “With all due respect Alpha, she wasn't worth the kind of amount you paid for her a while ago.” my beta said. “I know that and that is why she is going to pay back every penny I paid for her in one way or the other.” I said with a smirk. We got back to the pack and I dropped Tyla off at the pack clinic. “Take care of her and inform me as soon as she regains consciousness.” I said to the head pack nurse. “Yes Alpha.” I went back to my pack house to take care of some documents. A day swiftly turned into days and Tyla still wasn't conscious. I headed back to the clinic to find out what was wrong. “She hasn't shifted yet, Alpha and that is the reason why her recovery is slow.” “How can she not be a shifter!!! She already looks like she should be at the age where she shifts....when I met her the first time, I suspected but I didn't want to believe it was true!!!.....” I said in anger. “I don't know what was done to her in the previous pack she stayed but from the scars all over her body, I can tell she was maltreated and malnourished and that could be the major reason for her delay in shifting Alpha.” Rage was what I felt at that moment as I turned around and walked away. I headed to my study and started breaking everything I saw in sight. “Why are you raging over a mate you rejected??” My wolf asked. “I don't give a shit about her but I hate and do not tolerate Injustice.” I said. Just as I paced back and forth for a few minutes thinking deeply on the next decision to take, I was informed through a mind link that Tyla was awake. “Finally.” My wolf howled in excitement. “She is here as a slave to me and not a mate so get that straight.” I told my wolf. “Ass.” My wolf said as he blocked our mind link. I rolled my eyes as I began clearing my study before going to the clinic but soon after, I was informed that Tyla ran away from the clinic and that too In a terrible condition. “She doesn't f**king learn!!!” I yelled as I raced out of the pack house. I could see traces of blood into the woods and I knew Almost immediately that it was her blood. I wasn't worried about her bleeding but what I was worried about was that the smell of her blood could attract rogues. Her blood looked and smelt very unique and different from any other blood I had ever seen. Just as I suspected and feared, I could smell the presence of a rogue as I went further into the woods and I could also smell Tyla too as the bond between us was still active. I immediately changed into my wolf form as I raced further into the woods and as soon as I saw Tyla, I could tell she was already bitten by the rogue because of how motionless she was on the rogue. In rage, I removed the head of the wolf and ripped it's heart out as blood splattered everywhere. I looked back at Tyla and could see the shock written on her face after witnessing what I did and in a split second, she passed out cold. As soon as I could, I drained out the rogue venom from her body before it could get to her heart and I carried her bridal style. There was something unique about Tyla and I needed to find out what it was. “Mine.” I growled possessively. “Yours??? You rejected her Thane!!” My wolf said. “I, Alpha Thane of the Tiger wood blood pack, take back my rejection.” As soon as I took back my rejection, I could hear cracking sounds from Tyla. "What's going on???" I asked my wolf. "Mate is shifting for the first time!!!!"THANE'S POV “Your precious mate is under my care…if you want to see her and your unborn child again, meet me at the glass hour pack before dawn tomorrow and come alone….your Father, Hyperion.”The once proud Alpha of the Pack now sat in the center of his hollowed-out soul, the weight of a kingdom's fate balanced against the heart that beat only for her as he kept on reading the note Hyperion had sent over and over again.Tyla.Gone.Taken.By the one man whose blood Thane now regretted sharing….Alpha Hyperion.Thane stood before the tall, frosted window of his chamber, his jaw clenched and his knuckles white. The echo of the message haunted him. Thane didn’t tell Rico and he didn’t tell Emmy. He didn’t tell the pack members or anyone as no one could talk him out of it. He wore silence like armor, because anything less would break him apart. He left before dawn. The path leading to the forbidden ruins was littered with shadows. Winds howled through the trees like ancient spirits
THANE'S POV I sat down in my study as the sun Shone brightly into it.I was restless and I didn't know what to do or how to calm myself. I stared at the map laid out before me..borders, routes, possible enemy territories and all of it blurred in my vision as a storm brewed in my chest. None of it mattered if the root of all this madness, Hyperion was still breathing.I suddenly mind linked Rico.“Alpha?? Is there a problem??" Rico asked.“Come to my study now." I said."I will be there right away.” He said as I ended the mind link.A few minutes later, I heard the door swing open, and Rico walked in, stiff and unreadable as usual.“You sent for me?” he asked.I nodded, motioning for him to sit, though I remained standing as my mind was too restless.“I’m thinking of going to see Hyperion,” I said plainly.Rico blinked and then he laughed. “Good one, Alpha…you almost got me.”“I’m not joking.” I said as the room fell deathly still. Rico sat up straighter, the smile vanishing from
WRITER'S POV Celeste's heart had been troubled since Bridget's visit. She couldn't understand the reason why Bridget's heart burned with so much hatred for Emmy and Tyla and especially the pack. She knew that If Bridget was ready to ask her, a new member of the pack to join her in her quest, then she must have done worse things. She hadn’t slept well in days. Too much was happening, and none of it felt safe.Celeste stood by the tall window of her chambers, watching the sky darken with gathering storm clouds. A storm was coming…in more ways than one.The door creaked open without a knock. She didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.The air shifted when he entered…Sharp…. Controlled….Cold.Aurelius, Her mate whom they haven't shared any physical or emotional contact with.“What do you want?” she asked flatly, eyes still fixed on the clouds. He didn’t answer immediately. She heard the door click shut behind him, then his footsteps moved closer. He stopped halfway across the r
TYLA'S POV The walls of the clinic room felt colder than ever. Not because the temperature dropped, but because my heart had. Everything inside me was numb, like someone had ripped out the air and replaced it with grief, confusion, and fear. I sat up slowly, hugging my knees to my chest, careful not to press too hard on my belly. Even the thought of it…a pup…made my stomach twist in a knot. Why now? Why in the middle of chaos? Why with so many enemies still out there?I buried my face into my knees and let the tears fall. I didn’t try to stop them…there was no one here to pretend for. No one to hide the truth from.“You’re being too hard on yourself,” came a soft voice in my head.I blinked in confusion. “Lyra?” I whispered. It was on rare occasions Lyra spoke to me without me speaking to her first and so I was shocked that she said something to me.“Yes, it’s me.” my wolf replied gently.“I’ve been quiet, giving you time to feel but now, I think it’s time to talk.”I wiped my
THANE'S POV The sterile scent of the pack clinic clung to my nose like smoke.I paced back and forth beside Tyla’s bed with a worried look on my face. Her face, pale against the white pillow, looked so fragile it twisted my insides.Emmy had excused himself earlier…he said he had some things to handle. I didn’t ask questions because my focus was entirely on her.My mate.My Luna.My Tyla. And now… the mother of my child.A sentence I still couldn’t wrap my head around.Pregnant.The word echoed in my head over and over. It should have made me happy, excited even but with everything going on, Hyperion breathing down our necks, Bridget scheming in the shadows, traitors hiding in plain sight, this felt more like a curse than a blessing.A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in.” I said, my voice low and tight.Rico walked in, shutting the door behind him. He looked around briefly, his gaze settling on Tyla before turning to me.“You sent for me?”I nodded, rubbi
THANE'S POV My hand connected with soft skin before I even realized what was happening. The shock of it hit me the same time Tyla’s body did, falling to the floor like a delicate leaf cut from its branch.“Tyla!” I dropped to my knees beside her, the anger draining out of me like a tide leaving the shore. Blood was trickling from a cut near her forehead as her eyes were slowly closing and the worst part was that she wasn’t moving.“Damn it!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Why did you get in the way?!”“She tried to stop you from hitting me.” Emmy said quietly behind me.I turned on him with rage still burning behind my eyes. “Don’t touch her!” I growled when he reached forward. “This is all your fault!”Emmy’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t say anything. I scooped Tyla into my arms gently, bridal style, feeling her body limp and warm against me.“Move!” I barked at Emmy, pushing past him.The hallway blurred as I rushed her to the pack clinic. I didn’t care that people were stari
