Chapter 15

Anna's POV

Dex and I got to the venue of the occasion and he opened the door for me. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't let him do that but it was for appearances. Plus, I didn't want it to seem like he wasn't doing his job.

I gave him a grateful smile and he nodded. He was still tense. I wanted to guess that it had something to do with meeting his former bosses but I honestly couldn't fathom how that was even a big deal. Throughout the ride, he was extra quiet and had a frown on his face. That worried me because the Dex I was used to was very jovial and always found a way to get me to converse with him.

I took awhile to take a good look at the house before me. It was big, that's for sure. Too big, in fact. On the outside, it looked rich but empty. It didn't have that homely attribute. I liked our house more.

Dex and I didn't have to go in before we saw a butler who said he would take us to the party room.
