Khlea’s Point of View

“Why did you agree to what she wanted, Khlea?” Allison asked me as we left the coffee shop and were walking towards the parking area where Velvet was parked.

I frowned. The tone of Allison’s speech seemed to be different, as if she was annoyed. “What if I agree, Allison? The person is already sick. It would be a pity if I didn’t give in, wouldn’t it?”

She faced me. “How can you be so sure that what she says is true?”

“What do you mean?”

“Is it legitimate that she’s sick? Maybe later that’s just her way of getting you back to her. You shouldn’t agree right away until you’re sure.”

“Allison, maybe Cindy won’t make up a story just to make me stay. It’s a bad joke to have me. She still has cancer.” For me, such a thing is very sensitive and should not be made into a joke. Cindy has no reason to use being seriously ill as an excuse.

“Even so. You should have looked carefully first. What if it’s not true that she’s sick? Then you didn’t divorce her, so she’s fooled you
