Chapter 8 Come Here and Dry My Hair

Isabella Gomez frowned at Jonathan Sanders, "When you were pulling me just now, your strength was so great. You should be able to bathe yourself without much trouble, right?"

Jonathan Sanders's dark eyes narrowed slightly, "I believe I've already paid you for your services as a caregiver. This is what you're supposed to do."

Their gazes clashed, neither willing to back down. For a moment, it seemed as if sparks were flying.

"Fine." In the end, Isabella Gomez couldn't outdo Jonathan Sanders and had to concede. Resigned, she pushed him towards the bathroom.

After all, she was in his debt.

As they passed by the table, Isabella Gomez casually grabbed a pair of sunglasses and put them on.

The bathroom was a chaotic place, with just the two of them. Although every time she helped him bathe, she only provided auxiliary support and didn't touch any sensitive areas, she still feared seeing something she shouldn't, which might lead to another heated and awkward situation.

Halfway through his bath, Isabella Gomez's phone suddenly rang outside.

Seizing this perfect opportunity to escape the bathroom, Isabella Gomez rushed out, saying, "I'll go answer the phone. Someone might have an urgent matter to discuss with me."

Since she "might have an urgent matter," Jonathan Sanders couldn't keep her there. However, watching Isabella Gomez run out, half-embarrassed and half-angry, Jonathan Sanders felt oddly pleased.

"I'll go tomorrow... hmm, no need... no, I can go by myself. Thank you, okay, goodbye."

Isabella Gomez was on the phone in the living room. The house was small, and the door wasn't very soundproof, so Jonathan Sanders could hear her clearly.

When Jonathan Sanders came out of the bathroom, he saw Isabella Gomez packing a backpack.

"Where are you going?" Jonathan Sanders asked nonchalantly.

Without looking at him, Isabella Gomez put a towel and a hiking stick into the backpack, "I forgot to tell you, our comic company is organizing a mountain climbing trip for the artists tomorrow. I have to leave early. There's food in the fridge; you know how to cook, so make something for yourself."

Isabella Gomez remembered the delicious sausage rice she had eaten twice in one sitting. Well... Jonathan Sanders wouldn't starve even if he was alone at home for ten days or more.

Jonathan Sanders responded with a simple "Hmm," then paused in drying his hair, "Come over and help me dry my hair."

"Tsk." Isabella Gomez glanced at him impatiently, "Dry it yourself. I'm busy preparing things for tomorrow, I don't have time."

She had been angry with him for a while and had forgotten about the mountain climbing trip, so now she was hurriedly packing.

Jonathan Sanders: "..."

Usually, women would come at his beck and call, but Isabella Gomez kept refusing him.

Isabella Gomez also glanced at him, expecting him to frown and show his displeasure, as was his usual habit.

However, this time, Jonathan Sanders simply tilted his chin slightly and then dried his own hair.

Isabella Gomez chuckled, thinking that sometimes, this man wasn't too hard to deal with.

Jonathan Sanders's lips curved up slightly. Isabella Gomez treated him as an equal, bustling around and nagging in front of him, making him feel like an ordinary person.

Without the aura of being the third young master of the Sanders family, he suddenly enjoyed a sense of stability that only ordinary people could have. To him, this stability was a luxury.

Early the next morning, Isabella Gomez tiptoed out to avoid waking Jonathan Sanders.

"Isabella Gomez, over here!" She heard someone calling her as soon as she stepped out.

Turning her head, Isabella Gomez was surprised to see Theodore Davis, the deputy editor-in-chief of the comic company.

"Editor, what are you doing here?" Isabella Gomez was quite astonished.

Theodore Davis smiled and ruffled his neatly trimmed crew cut, "The company is organizing an event. I happened to pass by here, and since I heard you live nearby, I thought I'd pick you up on the way."

A flash of surprise crossed Isabella Gomez's eyes. She wasn't stupid. Theodore Davis had recently bought a house in B River, which was in the opposite direction from her place. How could it be on the way?

Moreover, considering how attentive Theodore Davis had been to her lately, Isabella Gomez realized something belatedly.

So, was Editor trying to court her?

Editor was exactly 30 years old, with average looks and build. He had divorced last year, and his marriage had only lasted a year. Isabella Gomez had always seen him as a simple superior and never considered anything else.

As she was thinking, Theodore Davis walked over and put his arm around her shoulder, "Let's go."

Startled, Isabella Gomez quickly stepped back, maintaining a safe distance, and smiled, "No need, Editor. You must be busy. I can take a car myself; it's not far."

"Gabriel, I'm already here. You wouldn't want me to drive an empty car, would you? Besides, we're running out of time. Everyone is waiting for us," Theodore Davis said, smiling at her.

Isabella Gomez didn't say anything.

"Get in the car. I won't eat you," Theodore Davis opened the car door for her.

Since Theodore Davis was her superior and had already come to her doorstep, she couldn't refuse. Though reluctant, Isabella Gomez eventually got into the car.

Theodore Davis's car drove away from the residential area, but what Isabella Gomez didn't know was that a pair of eyes had been watching them from upstairs.

Jonathan Sanders watched as Isabella Gomez was taken away by Theodore Davis. In his opinion, that old-man-like guy was not good enough for Isabella Gomez.

Watching Theodore Davis's car disappear, Jonathan Sanders tightened his grip on the wheelchair.

Isabella Gomez hadn't exercised in a long time. Since she found Jonathan Sanders, she had been living like a caregiver. Sometimes, Isabella Gomez felt it was unfair because Jonathan Sanders didn't seem to be very grateful.

"Isabella, your phone is ringing again," Theodore Davis reminded her.

"Oh, okay." Isabella Gomez stopped and took out her phone, frowning when she saw the caller ID. This was the eighth call from her brother today. He really had a lot of things to talk about.

"Isabella Gomez, where is the salt?" Jonathan Sanders asked on the phone.

"Isn't it with the oil? You just asked me where the oil was, it's right next to it," Isabella Gomez thought Jonathan Sanders was acting like a fool today.

"Oh, when will you be back? Where are you now?" Jonathan Sanders asked again.

"Tonight, and we have a dinner afterward. You already asked me once. I'm halfway up the mountain, and it's dangerous. I'm hanging up now," Isabella Gomez hung up before Jonathan Sanders could say anything more.

The group ahead had left her far behind, and Theodore Davis was still following her. If she didn't hurry, she would end up climbing the mountain alone with Theodore Davis, so she quickened her pace.

Theodore Davis smiled and glanced at her phone, "Who was that? Your boyfriend checking up on you?"

He asked this on purpose. He did have feelings for Isabella Gomez but needed to confirm if she was single to proceed further.

Feeling annoyed by Theodore Davis's persistence, Isabella Gomez impulsively wanted to tell him, "Yes, that was my boyfriend!"

But Isabella Gomez was not good at lying. Missing the best chance to lie, she shook her head, "No, just a friend."
