Alara’s POV

Something shifted in the house long before I heard raised voices or felt the tremor of anger ripple through the bond.

It was subtle — too subtle — but I felt it the moment I stepped into the corridor outside Ronan’s office. The air tightened, thickened, like the silence before a storm broke. My wolf lifted her head, ears pricked, instincts humming low and uneasy. Not out of fear. Not out of danger. Just… tension.

Xavier.

I didn’t see him yet, but I felt him the way I always did then — like a presence pressing against the edges of my awareness. His Lycan was restless, pacing beneath his skin. It wasn’t the wild, feral agitation I had felt before during his darker moments. This was sharper. Focused. Territorial.

The door was closed. That alone was enough to tell me everything.

I paused mid-step, fingers curling unconsciously into the fabric of my sleeve. The house seemed to hold its breath with me. Even the distant sounds — Lucian’s soft laughter echoing faintly from the gar

Alara’s POVBy the time the twins finally tired themselves out, the room looked like a small battlefield.Cushions lay scattered across the rug, a half-built tower of wooden blocks had been toppled with dramatic flair, and Artemis’s laughter still echoed faintly in the walls as they disappeared down the corridor with Mara in tow. The air felt warmer, fuller, like joy itself had weight and had chosen to linger.I stood there for a moment, hands on my hips, breathing it all in.This was my life now. Messy. Loud. Beautiful.I bent to pick up a discarded toy when I felt it.His gaze.I didn’t need to turn around to know Xavier was watching me. I had grown attuned to that quiet pull, the subtle shift in the air whenever he focused on me. It was different from the way anyone else looked — deeper, steadier. As if he were memorizing moments he feared might be taken from him again. When I finally glanced over my shoulder, I found him leaning against the doorframe, arms folded loosely across hi

  • Accidentally Marked By The Lycan King   Chapter 98: Lines I Never Crossed

Earlier that day…Xavier’s POVI had wanted to thank Ronan for years. The words had lived in my chest like a debt unpaid, heavy and sharp, but I had kept my distance instead — especially after Alara gave birth. Not because gratitude had faded, but because guilt had grown teeth. Every time I imagined standing in front of him, I saw everything he had given them that I hadn’t. A roof, safety, and a life stitched together with patience while I had been tearing myself apart elsewhere.Staying away had been easier than admitting that. But avoidance had a way of rotting into something uglier. Suspicion. Jealousy. Fear I didn’t want to name. That morning, I stood outside his office longer than necessary, my Lycan restless beneath my skin. Not angry — just alert. The way he had been lately. Ever since Alara came back into my orbit in a way that felt… real. Permanent. Dangerous.I knocked once and entered without waiting.Ronan looked up from his desk, surprise flickering briefly across his fac

  • Accidentally Marked By The Lycan King   Chapter 96: Embers Beneath the Ashes

Alara’s POVI woke before dawn, not because of a sound, but because of a feeling. That familiar pul l— soft, insistent, threading through my chest like a whisper I had spent years trying not to hear. My wolf stirred uneasily beneath my skin, not in pain or fear, but recognition, in awareness.Xavier.The house was still asleep when I slipped out of bed. The corridor lights were dimmed, the air cool against my bare feet as I made my way toward the back veranda. I hadn’t planned it, hadn’t even consciously decided where I was going, only that staying still felt impossible. He was already there.Xavier stood at the railing, the early light painting him in shades of silver and blue. He wasn’t armored, wasn’t wearing the weight of his crown this morning — just a simple shirt, sleeves rolled up, hair slightly tousled like he hadn’t slept much either.Somehow, that undid me more than any battle scars ever could. He didn’t turn right away, but I knew he sensed me. The bond — quiet for so long

  • Accidentally Marked By The Lycan King   Chapter 95: The Space Between Heartbeats

Alara's POVThe house felt different in the daylight. Not quieter — if anything, it was louder now, filled with the soft chaos of the twins — but warmer. Like it had been holding its breath for years and had finally decided to exhale.I noticed it most when Xavier was near.I told myself it was ridiculous. That I was imagining it. That proximity didn’t mean anything, that shared spaces didn’t erase years of distance and misunderstanding. And yet, every time I turned a corner and nearly collided with his broad frame, every time his voice drifted through the hall while he spoke softly to the twins, something inside me shifted.Unsettled. Aware. Awake. It started small.I found him in the kitchen mid-morning, sleeves rolled up, a faint dusting of flour on his forearms as he stared down at the counter like it had personally offended him. One of the twins, Artemis, sat perched on a stool, legs swinging as she supervised with grave seriousness.“You’re doing it wrong,” she informed him.Xavi

  • Accidentally Marked By The Lycan King   Chapter 94: Truths Spoken in Quiet Rooms

Alara’s POVMorning light filtered through the tall windows of the main house, pale and unassuming, as if the night before hadn’t unraveled half the truths I had lived by for years.I barely slept.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Xavier beneath the moon — his voice steady, his confession devastating. Aria. The council. The plan. Ronan. All of it tangled together until I couldn’t tell where betrayal ended and protection began.By the time the twins finished breakfast, laughing softly with Xavier at the table like it was the most natural thing in the world, I had already made up my mind.Ronan.It was important that me and him talked.
