The rhythmic, steady click of Juliet’s drafting pen against the heavy parchment paper was the only sound echoing through the quiet fourth-floor apartment. Outside her tall windows, the city had settled into a low, late-night hum, but inside, the atmosphere was dense with concentration. It was nearly eleven-thirty at night. Her small wooden desk lamp cast a warm, golden pool of illumination across a cluttered spread of silk fabric swatches, charcoal pencils, tracing paper, and rough architectural sketches for her upcoming autumn collection.

Her shoulders were stiff, her neck aching from hours of tense, hunched labor. Yet, despite her physical exhaustion, a strange, persistent buzz lingered right beneath her skin—a residual, electrifying heat that had nothing to do with her looming corporate deadline and everything to do with the six-foot-four man currently moving silently around her small kitchen space.

Roman had returned from his "grocery run" roughly thirty minutes prior carrying two large, brown paper bags overflowing with high-end organic produce, imported dark roast coffee beans, artisan cheeses, and fresh-cut lavender. He had silently unpacked everything, moving with an eerie, athletic efficiency that made Juliet’s hazel eyes dart toward him every few seconds. He had long since swapped his bespoke suit trousers for a pair of low-slung, dark grey drawstring sweatpants and a simple black t-shirt that stretched tightly over his broad chest.

The thin fabric of the sweatpants hung loosely off his hips, clinging to the heavy, corded muscle of his thighs in a way that made Juliet’s pulse leap every time he reached up to place a jar on the top shelf of her cabinets.

"Drink this," Roman’s deep, velvety baritone suddenly cut through the quiet room, breaking her train of thought.

Juliet blinked, her eyes snapping up from her sketch. He was standing right beside her drafting table, his towering frame casting a long, protective shadow over her work. In his large, broad hand, he was holding out a steaming ceramic mug of chamomile tea infused with a drizzle of wild honey. Up close, the faint, clean scent of sandalwood, dark espresso, and warm skin rolled off him in intoxicating, intoxicating waves.

"Oh," Juliet breathed, her throat suddenly feeling dry. She reached out, her small hand reaching for the mug. "Thank you. You really didn't have to—"

As her fingers wrapped around the smooth ceramic, her knuckles accidentally brushed against his broad, warm fingers.

The moment their skin made contact, an electric spark zapped straight up her arm like a live wire. Juliet gasped, her eyes snapping up to lock onto his dark, piercing gaze. Roman didn't pull his hand away immediately. Instead, his broad thumb lightly, deliberately grazed the soft back of her knuckles in a slow, possessive stroke that sent a fiery flutter pooling straight into her lower abdomen. Her lips parted, her breath catching in her chest as her hazel eyes lingered on his firm, sculpted mouth. A sudden, breathy silence stretched between them, thick with unsaid words and raw, simmering tension.

Before Roman could say another word, her smartphone resting on the wooden desk shattered the intimate quiet, vibrating violently against the hard surface.

Juliet practically jumped in her chair, her heart slamming into her ribs like a startled bird as she pulled her hand back, nearly spilling the hot tea onto her lap. She set the mug down with a quick clatter and snatched up the vibrating phone, desperately trying to steady her erratic breathing.

The caller ID displayed a name that instantly turned her blood from hot liquid fire to jagged, freezing ice: Karen Sparks.

Juliet’s jaw tightened into a hard, rigid line. She shot a quick glance up at Roman. He was still standing right beside her drafting table, his posture unyielding, his dark eyes darkening into twin pools of dangerous storm clouds the instant he read the name displayed on her glowing screen.

Juliet slid her thumb across the glass, hitting the speaker button before bringing the phone near her face. "What do you want, Karen?"

A loud, shrill burst of laughter erupted through the small phone speaker, dripping with fake, sugary condescension that made Juliet’s skin crawl.

"Oh, sweetie! Just checking in on my favorite little charity case!" Karen sang out, her voice amplified in the quiet room. "How are you holding up in that pathetic, dusty little studio apartment? Packing up your mother's old paintbrushes, I hope? I’ve already hired the interior decorators to measure the space for my new wardrobe!"

Juliet gripped the wooden edge of her drafting desk until her knuckles turned ghostly white, her nails digging into the lacquer. "The deadline for the inheritance clause isn't until midnight, Karen. Don't pop the champagne just yet."

"Oh, please, Juliet! Be realistic for once in your miserable life!" Karen sneered, the distinct clinking of ice cubes against a crystal glass audible in the background. "The legal clause explicitly states that unless you are legally married to an approved partner by midnight on your twenty-fourth birthday, control of Sparks Design Studio reverts entirely and permanently to Dad and me. And since Adam dumped your ungrateful, boring ass at the banquet last night, and since I personally made sure every eligible bachelor in the city knew you were damaged goods..." Karen giggled, a cruel, triumphant sound that echoed off the plaster walls. "...you have no husband. You lose. Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, my movers arrive to gut that studio and throw your mother's worthless sketches in the trash."

Beside the desk, Roman’s jaw flexed with a terrifying, silent rage. His broad chest expanded as he took a deep, measured breath, his hands curling into tight, dangerous fists at his sides. The raw, oppressive aura of lethal authority radiating off his massive frame was so intense that the very temperature in the room seemed to drop by ten degrees.

Juliet, however, felt a slow, razor-sharp smile spread across her lips. The helpless panic she had carried all morning vanished entirely, replaced by a cold, absolute triumph.

"You're right about one thing, Karen," Juliet said smoothly, her voice dropping into an icy, unbothered pitch that cut through Karen's triumphant rant. "I don't have an eligible bachelor from your stupid, corrupt high-society circle."

"Glad you finally accept reality, darling—"

"Because I’m already legally married," Juliet interrupted cleanly, her words precise and sharp.

Absolute silence dead-stopped the line. The arrogant clinking of ice glasses on Karen's end ceased instantly.

"What... what did you just say?" Karen choked out after four long seconds of dead air, her voice suddenly losing every ounce of its sugary, polished bravado.

"You heard me, Karen," Juliet replied, leaning back against her drafting chair, savoring every single millisecond of her stepsister's stunned silence. "I walked into the Downtown Civil Registry Office at 4:30 PM today, signed the official state marriage ledger with my own pen, and got our legal state certificate stamped and verified. Sparks Design Studio is legally, permanently, and entirely mine. So you can take your movers and tell them to go straight to hell."

For three agonizing seconds, the phone remained completely dead. Then, Karen’s voice exploded through the speaker, shrill, hysterical, and unhinged with sudden fury.

"You're lying! You lying little bitch! You fake-married some homeless bum off the street just to trick the family estate lawyers! Adam is sitting right here next to me, and he says there is NO WAY anyone would marry a loser like you on a four-hour notice!"

"Believe whatever helps you sleep at night, Karen," Juliet scoffed, reaching out her finger to end the call.

"NO! Prove it!" Karen shrieked through the tiny speaker, her voice pitching into a desperate scream. "If you're not lying, prove it! Tomorrow night at 7:00 PM, Grand Master Sparks is hosting the annual family dinner at the Grand Royal Hotel! You bring this 'husband' of yours to the private dining hall and present your legal state documents in front of the entire family and the estate lawyers! If you don't show up, or if this guy turns out to be some cheap paid actor, Dad and I will file an immediate injunction for inheritance fraud and freeze your studio's bank accounts before noon!"

Juliet froze, her heart catching in her throat. A high-society family dinner at the Grand Royal Hotel? Surrounded by the city's wealthiest, most judgmental elites, her ruthless stepmother, her toxic stepsister, and her bitter ex-fiancé?

She looked up, her hazel eyes meeting Roman’s dark, unreadable gaze. He was leaning back slightly against the edge of her counter, his massive arms crossed over his chest. Without a single word, he gave her a subtle, elegant nod of his head—a quiet, absolute promise that he would stand by her no matter what.

Juliet took a slow, deep breath, her eyes blazing with fierce, fiery resolve.

"7:00 PM at the Grand Royal Hotel, Karen," Juliet spoke directly into the microphone, her tone ringing with absolute certainty. "Make sure you order extra wine. You're going to need something strong to help you swallow your own words."

She slammed her thumb down on the red icon, ending the call and tossing the phone onto the desk.

Juliet let out a long breath, slumping slightly in her chair. "Well... that happened. Karen just summoned us to a family execution dinner."

Roman stepped closer, his dark eyes fixed on her face. He reached down, his large, warm fingers gently picking up her chamomile tea and placing the mug back into her hands.

"It won't be an execution for us, Juliet," Roman said softly, his deep voice carrying a cold, dangerous confidence that sent a thrill through her veins. "It will be an execution for them. Drink your tea."

A cold draft swept through the cutting floor, fluttering loose swatches of silk and sending a chill down Juliet’s spine that had nothing to do with the August weather. She stood in the middle of her back office, staring into the open, empty vault of the floor safe beneath her drafting desk. Her hands were shaking so violently she couldn't keep her fingers still. • Accidentally Married to CEO Bloom   The Steamy Mirror

While the rest of the fashion district slept, a quiet, desperate shadow crept along the rear brick facade of the building.Karen Sparks shivered beneath her oversized black trench coat, her designer heels squelching against the wet asphalt. Her eyes were bloodshot, her manicured nails bitten down to the quick. The past seventy-two hours had been an unmitigated disaster. "She thinks she won. She

  • Accidentally Married to CEO Bloom   The Cheap Tie & The Collar Fix

The morning light streaming through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the penthouse was unforgiving. It caught every line, every detail, and in this particular instance, it caught the severe lack of professional neckwear on the man standing by the direct-access elevator.Juliet stood near the kitchen island, a mug of steaming black coffee held between her palms, watching Roman prepare for his supposed shift at Bloom Enterprises. He was wearing a clean, crisp white dress shirt—one he had brought in his understated leather duffel bag—paired with dark, immaculate trousers. The shirt fit him like a second skin, stretching taut across his broad chest, the top two buttons undone to reveal the strong column of his throat and the faintest hint of golden-bronze skin beneath. His long sleeves were rolled up past his elbows, exposing corded forearms laced with dark, prominent veins.
