Sienna's POV

I squinted harder, leaning slightly forward as if that would somehow bring the woman closer.

The woman tilted her head slightly.

Is she looking at me?

Before I could be sure, a loud rumble filled the street. A bright yellow school bus drove past, blocking my view completely.

“Ugh,” I muttered under my breath.

The bus moved slowly, its large metal body covered the entire space where the woman was standing.

Still, my eyes stayed locked on the spot.

The moment the bus passed, I expect

Sienna's POV Soft conversations hummed in the hospital's cafeteria, blending with the faint clatter of trays and cutlery. The scent of coffee, toasted bread, and something sweet hung lightly in the air.I stood in line as I scanned the menu overhead. My lips curved slightly as I spotted just what I was looking for.“Strawberry cream-filled doughnuts,” I murmured under my breath. That's what I had been craving since morning.I overheard one of the nurses mention that the cafeteria made them fresh every day, and ever since then, the thought has refused to leave my mind.I ordered a box, along with a bottle of water, and made my way to a quiet table by the window. The sunlight streamed in gently, casting warm patterns across the floor.I exhaled slowly as I sat down, placing the small box in front of me. My thoughts drifted back to yesterday.Dad had been awake again for a few hours. Talking, laughing, and even cracking jokes like nothing had happened.“Don’t worry too much about me,” h

Eric's POV Daniel leaned back slowly in his chair, exhaling through his nose.He looked at Stacey.“So, Julian isn’t just dabbling in dirty business, he’s also part of Caruso’s network.” He said.Stacey nodded once.“He’s been involved with them for years,” she said. “Long before I came into the picture.”Daniel gave me a knowing look.“It makes sense that Julian went to Caruso for help to execute the accident,” he said.“Julian doesn’t handle things like that directly. He pays the right people to keep his hands clean.” Stacey said.A scoff escaped me.“Clean,” I repeated. “That’s ironic.”“When you discovered all of this,” I said, my gaze shifting back to Stacey. “Why didn’t you report him?”For a moment, Stacey didn’t answer. Her fingers intertwined tightly in her lap, knuckles paling slightly. When she finally spoke, her voice was quieter.“Because I couldn’t.”I frowned.“Why?.”She looked up at me.“When I confronted Julian and threatened to expose him, he reminded me of everyth

Eric's POVDaniel didn’t waste a second.“Alright, let’s make this count.” He said.He reached into his drawer and pulled out a small recording device, placing it carefully at the center of the desk. As he turned it on, the faint click echoed in the room.“For the record,” Daniel said, glancing between us, “this conversation is being recorded.”Stacey nodded. “I understand.”My eyes remained fixed on her.“Go on,” Daniel prompted.Stacey clasped her hands together in her lap, her fingers tightening briefly before she spoke.“It started before things between us broke.” She said, her voice steady but low.My jaw clenched slightly.“I met Julian at a corporate event. One of those networking nights your father insisted we attend together.”I vaguely remembered details of those events but I barely paid much attention to who she spoke with there.“He introduced himself like he already knew me,” she said. “He was confident and charming. I had no idea he was your cousin then.”“At first, it w

Eric's POVI stood as my gaze moved slowly from Daniel to Stacey.“Is this a joke?” I asked flatly.Daniel frowned slightly. “Why would I bring you all the way here for a joke?”I didn’t answer, my eyes were still locked on Stacey.“She has information about Julian,” Daniel continued calmly. “Information we need.”“Hi, Eric,” Stacey said quietly.I didn’t respond.I could feel Daniel watching both of us, probably wondering if bringing us into the same room was a terrible idea.Stacey shifted slightly under my gaze.“I know I’m the last person you want to see,” she said. That's an understatement.“But we both want the same thing,” she continued. “Julian’s downfall.”My jaw tightened.“So you should at least hear what I have to say.” She added.I exhaled slowly through my nose.Even though a part of me wanted to stand up and walk out of that room or tell Daniel he had wasted my time and that I wasn’t interested in anything Stacey Roland had to offer, another part of me—the part that has

Eric's POVMy phone vibrated softly on the desk. I picked it up to see a text from Daniel Harper.Daniel: The person agreed to meet by 12:00 p.m.I checked the time on my watch.11:00 a.m.Exactly one hour. One hour until I met the person who might finally help expose Julian.I slipped the phone back into my pocket and picked up the office phone on my desk, dialing my secretary’s extension. She answered almost immediately. “Yes, Mr. Macmillan.”“I need you to clear my schedule for the rest of the day.”I could hear shuffling on her end. “Everything?”“Yes, everything.” I replied.“Okay, sir.”“If anyone asks, I’m unavailable.” I added.“Understood.” She said.“Thank you.” I said and hung up.I grabbed my jacket from the stand and headed for the door. The moment I stepped out of my office, I saw Julian walking straight towards me.He stopped a few feet away from me. And for a moment, neither of us spoke. Then he smirked.“You’re busy this morning,” he said casually.I didn't respond.H

There were only a handful of people nearby, and none of them looked even remotely close to the woman I had just seen.I turned my head slightly, scanning the street but she was nowhere to be found.“Sienna?” Jessica gently nudged my side.I blinked and turned to her.She was staring at me with a small frown.“Are you okay?” she asked.
