Lily
As I walked away, thinking about what just happened, alarm bells began ringing in my ears. I had no idea what just happened or who that crazy man was but still, I had a feeling that I knew him from somewhere but I had no idea where or how I had known him. As soon as he entered the house, his eyes never left me. They bored into me, searching me out and followed me with every corner I took.It was unnerving to say the least but even in his stares, I found comfort. There was this assurance I had when he was staring at me that I just couldn’t place. I also noticed the way he looked deep into my eyes, like he was searching for something I didn't even know existed. It was charming when you thought about it but at the same time, it was unnerving too and the last thing I wanted was for a damn attractive stranger to stare at me like I had stolen something from him.“Oh, Lily, why don’t you join us?” Mrs. Donovan smiled.Ever since I came to her house, she had been nothing but nice to me, treating me like a mother would treat her child. Oftentimes, I really wished that she was my mother. She had shown me so much love, half of which my own biological mother hadn’t even shown me and this was something I would never forget in a hurry. Her presence filled me with so much joy and happiness and I promised to help her with anything I could, anything at all.“Oh… Mrs Donovan, I think I should get back to what I was doing. I wouldn’t want to intrude on this family reunion.” I smiled, politely.“Nonsense, please join us dear. I insist,” she smiled.I had no other option than to do as I was told, especially since the crazy man was staring at me again. I didn’t even know what he saw in me but whatever it was, I knew I needed to be careful around him because even though his mother was a nice old lady, I didn't know him and couldn’t risk my life around him.I walked back, drawing out a chair that I could sit on. It happened that the chair I sat on was directly facing the man which made me uncomfortable. Now, I was faced with avoiding his stares even as I tried to appear polite.“So, now that we are all here, I think this is the right time to do our introductions. Lily, meet my sons, Noah and Ethan. Boys, meet Lily.” Mrs Donovan said with a smile on her face.I nodded politely. Ethan greeted me with a friendly wave and a warm smile while Noah stared at me like he was ready to jump me at any moment. He didn’t even seem to hear anything his mother just said, choosing instead to stare at me.“Noah, don’t be rude.” His mother chuckled.Like he was in a trance, he snapped out of it, giving me a simple nod as his eyes finally left me. I heaved a small sigh of relief because even though he acknowledged me, I still wasn’t out of his lair yet.“Mrs Donovan-”She cut me off by raising a hand. I sighed because I just knew what she was about to say. I had made that mistake again and right now, I wasn't going to hear the last of it.“How many times have I told you not to call me that, honey? Emma is fine.” She said.“I’m sorry, Emma, but I must insist, I need to go back to what I was doing. It was really nice meeting your sons,” I said, rising to my feet.“The pleasure is ours, Lily, we’ll be seeing you around.” Ethan smiled.I nodded before scurrying away. It wasn’t until I got to the kitchen that I heaved a huge sigh of relief. I was finally out of his lair and I didn't think that there was anything that would take me back there.“What happened? It looks like you saw a ghost or something.” Chris laughed. He was the main chef of the Donovan house and a very good friend of mine. I chuckled, knowing that what he said was just the accurate description of how I was looking at that moment.“Not a ghost, Christ, just introduced to Emma’s sons.”“Oh, I see you’ve met the famous boys,” he smiled.I watched as he expertly mixed the recipe for Emma’s favorite stew. I didn’t know how famous they were but I couldn't wait to hear the gist from him.“They’re famous?” I asked.“Yes, they are but really… it's only the first one, Noah.”The memory of the boys crept up in my mind and I knew who was the first. My creep was Noah. He gave off the vibes and the bubbly and more fun one had to be Ethan, it was just proper.“Noah is the CEO of the Donovan Empire, a conglomerate left for him by his late father. Not much is really known about him, except that he likes to keep to himself and of course, rumors have said that he has a sour temper,” Chris said. From the little time I had stayed with them, I found this to be true because of the way he looked like he was going to attack me at any moment. I didn’t know what his problem was and I wasn't ready to find out because left to me, I just wanted to do my work peacefully here.“Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to avoid him.”“Well, the other one isn’t as bad as the first. As a matter of fact, Ethan is more open to communication so just in case…”He left his words hanging and he didn’t need to complete his words for me to know what he was talking about.“Oh no Chris, that’s not what I want to do. I’ll just steer clear,” I smiled. He shrugged, getting back to what he was doing. I went to my assigned work space as I tried all I could to block out Noah but try as I may, I just couldn’t and I knew that soon, our paths would cross.NoahAs soon as I laid eyes on Lily, something shifted within me. It was like the world around us dimmed, and all I could see was her. Her presence was magnetic, drawing my attention like a moth to a flame. We were at the dinner table, my mother, my brother Ethan, and me. But as hard as I tried to focus on the conversation, my gaze kept drifting back to Lily."Pass the salt, Noah," Ethan said, breaking through my trance.I nodded absentmindedly, handing him the salt without tearing my eyes away from Lily. She was chatting animatedly with my mother, her smile illuminating the room. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to hear her laugh, to see her eyes light up with joy."Is everything alright, Noah?" My mother's voice brought me back to reality.I blinked, realizing I had been staring for too long. "Uh, yeah, everything's fine," I replied quickly, hoping they hadn't noticed my distraction. But deep down, I knew that everything was far from fine. Lily had captivated me in a
LilyI closed the door to my room behind me, my mind still reeling from the encounter with Noah. The words he had spoken echoed in my head, refusing to fade into the background like I wished they would. "You are here," he had said, his voice tinged with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. But why? Why would he tell me that? I barely knew him.Sinking onto the edge of my bed, I tried to make sense of it all. Noah was practically a stranger to me, yet his words had stirred something deep within me. There was a familiarity in his eyes, a sense of connection that I couldn't quite explain. It was as if he had been a part of my life for far longer than I realized. As I sat there lost in thought, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Noah than met the eye. His mysterious aura, coupled with his cryptic words, left me with more questions than answers. What did he mean by I was here? And why did it feel like there was some unspoken bond between us?Lost in my thoughts, I didn'
Lily. The morning sun streamed through the bathroom window, casting a warm glow across the tiled floor as I eased myself into the soothing embrace of the bathwater. The gentle scent of lavender filled the air, and for a moment, I allowed myself to forget about the world outside and simply enjoy this moment of peace but as I settled deeper into the water, my thoughts inevitably turned to the undeniable truth that lay beneath the surface of my skin.My hand instinctively drifted to my abdomen, where the subtle curve of a baby bump was beginning to make itself known. It was still small, barely noticeable to anyone but myself, but with each passing day, it seemed to grow more pronounced, a silent testament to the life that was growing within me and with that realization came the sudden rush of emotions that I had been struggling to contain.Tears welled up in my eyes as I traced the outline of my bump, feeling the weight of the unborn child resting there. I knew that soon, everyone would
Noah. I couldn’t stop thinking about my mother’s new maid. Everytime I glanced at her, it just seemed like she had the answers to all of my problems, like she had this peace I had been looking for for a very long time. Heck, I couldn't even get her out of my mind and with every minute that passed, stuck in this same house with her, I was slowly losing my mind.I wanted to feel her, wanted her very close to me so that i could hold her in my arms as she assured me that everything was going to be fine. I didn’t know what had gotten over me but I knew it was a sudden attraction towards her. There was just something about her that told me that she was a woman who needed to be cared for and when it came to do, I would do that without any hesitation.“What has gotten into you?” Ethan asked, barging into my room.I glanced up from mindlessly scrolling through my phone as I watched him take the seat opposite my king-sized bed. I knew what he meant and I wasn't sure I even had the answers to t
LilyHumming to myself, I had no idea I was being watched. My duty that day was to make sure that the kitchen was spotless even as I tried to make sure that everything was in place. Mrs Donovan would be having some guests over later on and I wouldn't want Chris to have a hard time locating where each item should be.“I told you Lily, you need to take more rest. I really don’t want you doing this.”I turned towards the direction of the voice to see Mrs Donovan walking towards me with a small smile on her face. She had told me times without numbers that I should learn to take some rest but how could I do that when things seemed to be in place.“Okay, I promise. As soon as I'm done with this, I'll take that rest. She hugged me gently before walking away, leaving me to continue my work. I knew she meant well for me but at times, her over protective nature had me worried because i didn’t want to let her down. She held me in high esteem and letting her down will no doubt break the trust she
LilyThe night seemed endless, stretching on with each passing minute as I lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to find solace in sleep. My mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions, all stemming from one source: Noah. His touch lingered, haunting me with memories of how he held me earlier in the kitchen. It was a fleeting moment, yet it left an indelible mark on my consciousness.I knew I needed to distance myself from him, for my own sake and for the sake of my unborn child. The realization of my pregnancy had already brought a myriad of uncertainties into my life, and the last thing I needed was to complicate matters further by indulging in feelings that could only lead to trouble. But as much as I tried to convince myself of the necessity of staying away from Noah, the pull of his presence was undeniable. There was something about him that drew me in, something magnetic that defied reason and logic. Perhaps it was the kindness in his eyes, or the gentleness of his touch, or
LilyLater that evening, Mrs. Donovan called me over, and as she sat me down beside her, I couldn't shake off the growing anxiety creeping up within me. There was an unusual seriousness in her posture that made me wonder what she wanted to talk about. I sat there, fidgeting nervously, trying to prepare myself for whatever was to come.Suddenly, Mrs. Donovan broke the silence, her voice cutting through the tension in the room. "Lily," she began, her gaze fixed on me, "I've noticed something, and I wanted to talk to you about it."My heart skipped a beat, and I braced myself for what she was about to say. "Yes, Mrs. Donovan?" I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the nervousness swirling inside me."Is there a problem between you and Noah?" She asked, her question catching me completely off guard. I felt myself freeze, my mind racing as I struggled to come up with a response. How did she know? Was it that obvious?"I… I don't..." I stuttered, unable to find the right words.
Lily“So, Lily, I would like you to do something for me.” Mrs. Donovan said. She called me into her home office the following day and standing in front of her, I felt nervous because I didn't know why she had called me here this morning when it was only yesterday evening we had talked. I found it odd because this just told me that there was something she wanted to discuss with me, something I didn't know about.“Okay, what is that, ma’am?” I asked.“Please sit down,” she said.Taking a seat opposite her, my nervousness shot up to the roof because whatever it was, it had to be serious and I didn't think I was ready to hear any of that.“I need a favor from you,” she said.“Of course, ma’am, anything at all. I am ready to help you.”She didn’t even need to ask me if there was something I needed to do for her. What she had done for me was far more than anything I could ever do for her and I didn't want her to think that she needed to beg me before I did anything for her. I did what I did
