Josephine’s POV

“I hope we are not forgetting something,” I said, as Francesco lifted Sabrina's hospital bag.

“We are not. I already checked everything,” He replied, stroking Sabrina's cheek, which caused her to giggle as she slipped her hand into his other hand.

“Okay then,” I replied.

After nearly two weeks of being hospitalized, Sabrina was going home today, and I couldn't be gladder.

Although I'd still have to bring her to the hospital once a week, for routine checkup, until the doctor stated otherwise, I was still relieved that my baby was finally going home.

Walking into the elevator, I watched Sabrina and Francesco talk animatedly about the latest episode of SpongeBob Square pants that she'd watched earlier today, and couldn't feel a warm sensation in my heart.

It almost felt normal to have him around.

“Can I ask you a question, uncle hamsome?” Sabrina asked, as the elevator started moving.

“Yes, pumpkin.” Francesco replied.

“Are you my mummy's boyfriend?” Sabrina asked, and

  • After Divorce, I Became A Hotshot Lawyer   It’s just sex

Josephine’s POV Moaning as Francesco placed his hands on my hips, I withdrew from the kiss, my insides simmering with sexual ecstasy as I gazed at his lust-hazed eyes. The fact that I was currently encaptured in the arms of the same man, who I'd sworn to myself that I was never getting close with again was, utterly funny yet pathetic. But I wasn't about to dwell on that, my throbbing pussy needed to be taken care of at that moment. “I want to suck you off,” I said. “But we clearly can't do it here.” “We would be horrible parents if we did,” Francesco chuckled, groping my ass which made me wetter. “Let's go to my bedroom.” “Okay,” I replied, and he gave my ass one final squeeze before leading me out of Sabrina's bedroom. Even before we entered his room properly, Francesco's lips had captured mine, our tongues tangling around one another's as he lifted me, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. Wild fire of arousal spread through me like a thick forest, as he slid his

Josephine’s POV I groaned as the incessant ringing of my phone wafted into my ears, disrupting my blissful sleep.Without opening my eyes, I reached over to the nightstand and grabbed my phone. Thereafter, I reluctantly blinked my eyes open and on seeing that it was Alice calling, I answered the call.“Hi, babes,” She greeted. “Hey,” I mumbled, still fighting the urge to go back to sleep. “How's everything going?”“Everything is going well and we all miss you,” Alice replied. “How's Sabrina doing?”My heart warmed at her first statement, “Aw, I miss everyone too, and Sabrina is doing fine.”“So, does that mean you're coming back to work soon?” Alice prodded, and my stomach churned, the warmth in my heart instantly turning into intense pounding.Although Francesco had reassured me that I could take as much time as I wanted off, I still couldn't bring myself to go to work, after re-echoing my intent to resign to him.It would be the most embarrassing thing in the universe. Now, I knew

Josephine’s POV I was so elated that I didn't know when I threw myself on Francesco. It was only when he hugged me back that I realized what I did. However, I was too excited at the prospect of seeing my daughter again after a whole week, that I decided against paying much attention to the fact that I'd initiated the hug, after making a whole drama about not wanting his blood for Sabrina.Pulling away from him, I looked at the nurse, “Does that mean we can see her now?”“Yes, Miss Josephine,” The nurse smiled. “You can come with me.”I had to repress the urge to sprint to the pediatric ward to see my baby, as Francesco and I followed the nurse.“Thank you, Jo,” Francesco mouthed, as we reached the pediatric ward.In response, I just nodded, my heart scudding in anticipation, as the nurse pushed the door open.My heart broke all over again when I laid eyes on Sabrina–she was connected to five different machines, and still had a nasal cannula in her nostrils. She seemed fragile like gl

Francesco’s POV “Here you go,” I said, handing Josephine a bottle of water which she took.“Thank you,” She mumbled, her gaze returning to the glass doors of Sabrina's room. “It's been a week and there's still no improvement, Francesco. What if she really never wakes up?”I regarded her morose countenance for a moment, my heart breaking at how emaciated and gaunt she looked.Josephine had lost so much weight that I didn't think was possible for someone to lose in such a little while, in just a week. She also had eyebags because she never slept. If she wasn't pacing the hallway, she'd be sitting outside Sabrina's room, hoping for the next good news.Although she was discharged from the hospital three days ago, she had refused to step out of the building, insisting she'd only do so when Sabrina wakes up.And being the stubborn person she was, neither I nor the hospital's director or even Alice, could convince her to leave.“Let's see this in a more positive light, Jo,” I said, sitting

Josephine’s POV “I’m heading out for a moment. Would you like me to get you anything?” Francesco asked, as I sat down on the bed.“No, I'm good,” I replied. “By the way, when are you planning to leave? You've been here for almost a day now. You know, I don't really need you fawning over me like I'm some pathetic damsel.”On my insistence, Alice had gone to work that day. Francesco, on the other hand, was being stubborn.“I will be back before you know it.” He responded, darting me a smile before taking his leave.Huffing, I stared at my phone's lock screen; a picture of Sabrina as an infant, and my heart broke for the umpteenth time that day.The doctors were still hellbent on not letting me see her.I couldn't help but wonder how she was faring in the intensive care unit.Just then, a knock came on the door, forcing me to swallow the lump of tears in my throat.“Come in,” I croaked out.Grandma and Ian walked in then, with Ian holding a bouquet of flowers, and their expressions moro

  • After Divorce, I Became A Hotshot Lawyer   Reassurance

Francesco’s POV Gazing at Josephine's number on my phone, I inwardly deliberated whether or not to call her for the umpteenth time that evening. She hadn't showed up at work or picked any of my calls throughout yesterday, which led me to believe that she was really serious about resigning.I had thought she'd have a rethink after the mind-blowing sex we had the other day, but I guess I was wrong.Regardless, I proceeded to place a call to her and this time, the robotic network provider told me that her line was unreachable.Just as I was about calling her for a second time, the elevator slid open and two women walked in.“Good morning, sir,” They greeted me.“Good morning,” I replied, before dialing Josephine's number again.“By the way, did you hear about Attorney Perkins?”The shorter woman whispered to her partner, but I heard her.Ending the call, I stayed still as I waited for them to continue their conversation.“No, what about her?” The other woman whispered back, and the shor

Josephine's POV“Mummy, my teacher said we're going to have a costume party next session,” Sabrina said, as I steered my car out of the parking lot. “I already know what costume I want.”“Really?” I asked, smiling at her through the rearview mirror.I couldn't find it in my heart to tell her that she wasn't going to resume next session with her classmates. That she was going to have new friends and classmates in England. We were currently on our way to her school, and thereafter, I would head to work to tender my resignation letter.I had stayed up all night wondering how I was supposed to tell grandma about my sudden decision, without having her dig into the real reason, but I just couldn't think of a single believable excuse.Regardless, I was finally quitting the law firm today.“Yes, mummy. I want to dress like you,” She replied. “Like a senior abrigate.”“A senior advocate, sweetie,” I corrected with a grin. “I'm so happy to hear that. But may I ask why you want to dress like mum
