Chapter 9: Sleep While You Can

Bill Gilbert thought for a moment. Valentina had said that the divorce process would take several days to complete, which meant that she and Hamiltion Carpenter were still legally married!

Sha Qisha narrowed his beautiful almond-shaped eyes and turned back towards the private room.

In the next private room, Arlen Pritt couldn't stand Hamiltion Carpenter's silence anymore.

*Damn, can't even have a good drink.*

Arlen Pritt held a half-smoked cigarette between his fingers, lightly flicking off the ash. "I say, Hamiltion Carpenter, who are you putting on that sour face for? You wouldn't be missing Valentina, would you?"

Hamiltion Carpenter sneered, his cold lips curling into a handsome smirk. "Her? I'd miss her? That's a joke!"

In his eyes, Valentina was like a puppet controlled by strings, incredibly boring. She lacked thoughts, didn't understand romance, and besides being able to cook well and keep the house tidy, she was utterly useless!

Arlen Pritt didn't believe it. "Then why are you here drinking your sorrows away?"

Hamiltion Carpenter seemed lost in thought and didn't immediately answer Arlen Pritt.

For two years, he had grown accustomed to Valentina keeping the house spotless, eating the meals she prepared, wearing the suits she ironed, and even her scent.

It was terrifying. For the title of Mrs. Lu and the money, that soulless woman had insidiously seeped into every aspect of his life.

"It's just habit. Even if you have a dog, don't you get attached?" Hamiltion Carpenter believed it was merely a matter of habit. He didn't love her; it was just a pitiful habit, and he would soon get used to being taken care of by another woman.

"Regardless, Old Lu, you really have some tricks up your sleeve. To make Valentina agree to the divorce without a fuss, brother, I admire you!"

A woman who could work tirelessly for the family and take such meticulous care of her husband must have deep feelings!

In Arlen Pritt's eyes, every little thing Valentina did for Hamiltion Carpenter was an expression of her love.

Hamiltion Carpenter picked up his glass and took a large swig, his voice barely audible. "I gave her five billion and... a rabbit!"

This woman, who claimed to love him, had finally revealed her true, greedy nature. All her past kindness was nothing but a ploy for the Lu family's wealth!

"What?" Arlen Pritt was so shocked he crushed out his cigarette. "Hamiltion Carpenter, you really have some nerve. Giving your ex-wife a rabbit after the divorce? You're not human..."

But Arlen Pritt still felt that Valentina wasn't the type to sell herself for money. He firmly believed that when she married the critically ill Hamiltion Carpenter and cared for him both in and out of bed, it wasn't because of the money.

And now, the reason she wanted the Lu family's money was... because she was poor!

An orphan, leaving the marriage with some money for herself was only natural.

Arlen Pritt, bored out of his mind, drank with Hamiltion Carpenter for a while longer, then took the opportunity to answer a phone call and escape.

"Don't drink too much. I'll call your assistant to pick you up later!" Arlen Pritt repeated this several times to the slightly drunk Hamiltion Carpenter before leaving.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring private room.

"Seventh Young Master, the guest in the next private room has ordered more drinks." A club attendant came in to report.

Bill Gilbert whispered a few words to the attendant, handed him a package, and the attendant nodded and left the room.

Bill Gilbert, with a sly smile, pulled Valentina, who was singing loudly, closer. "Little ancestor, must be thirsty. Have a drink..."

Valentina, dazed, nodded and opened her mouth to drink, but the wine glass was blocked by a refined, fair-skinned young man.

"You... you... there's something in this drink. You... can't... hurt her, she's already... very sad!"

Barry Dunbar, blushing, became more incoherent the more anxious he got.

"Phew!" Bill Gilbert hadn't expected this effeminate rabbit to care so much about Valentina.

"I'm not hurting her, I'm helping her!"

No one knew better than Bill Gilbert how much Valentina loved Hamiltion Carpenter.

But in two years of marriage, Hamiltion Carpenter had never touched Valentina. Now was the perfect time. If not now, then never, as they would no longer be connected...
