Hannah’s POV:

Today was the day. My heart raced as I stood behind the heavy curtains, a thin layer of fabric that separated me from the stage. This was the second phase of the competition, a stark contrast to the first round that had seen nearly 2000 hopefuls whittled down to just 100. I had worked myself to the T and now I was here.

I cautiously peeked through the curtains and took in the scene before me. The three judges from the previous presentation sat at their raised table, flanked this time by a small audience– people, who’d come to witness new innovations and who very well had the big wallets to fund them.

Trying to calm my nerves, I made out familiar faces—even in the chaotic gathering, Josh’s enthusiastic wave caught my eye. I couldn’t help but smile and wave back. Next to him was Adam. Even from afar, his dark hair and sparkling blue eyes stood out against the crowd. His smile was there, faint but genuine, and it warmed me despite the intensity of the moment.

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 79

Hannah's POV:The two police cars parked outside the building blared sirens loudly, disrupting the evening air. I sat at the back of an ambulance truck, a paramedic inspecting the bruise on my stomach.“I'm fine; it wasn't a deep cut.” I said, trying to save her some time from doing something so pointless. The brunette paramedic didn't stop; instead, she pulled out a first aid kit from behind her. “We don't know how clean the knife he used was. It's better we clean up the wound to prevent any infection.”Her focus was absolute. She wasn't going to let me be until she was sure I was fully fine. I smiled, grateful for how passionate she was about the safety of a person she had never met. Must be why she became a paramedic.“Let me go; it's not a crime to be in love,” Alina winced, struggling with the two policemen dragging him to the back of the car.“No. But kidnapping and physical assault are.” The policeman to his left, with a full mustache, replied before pushing Alina's head throug

Hannah's POV:Alina dug his hand into his black leather pocket and brought out a small knife, the sharp edge glistening under the flickering light bulb.Stiles's eyes inflated on seeing the knife; he muffled something, but it sounded incoherent due to the gag on his mouth. The chair shook in place as he attempted to break loose, but it was useless.Alina shifted closer to him, each step like fire drawing dangerously closer to its victim. Stiles' skin burned.“You and I had something special. The way you made me feel that day, no one has ever made me feel like that.” His hand holding the knife trailed Stiles' shoulder, moving upwards. Stiles shuddered.“I had a good time too. But it was nothing romantic; I'm sorry if you felt I passed the wrong signal.” I said, but he wasn't ready to believe the truth.“No!” He yelled, his head twitching like a few screws had gone loose. “You're lying! You're lying!!”“Alina, I—”“No!! I know why you're saying this! It's because of him, right?” His fie

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 77

Hannah's POV: I got into a taxi and told him the location Alina sent to my phone. It was a dive in-bar. Not particularly the best place for abduction and hostage. I already looked up the address online, and that was why I involved Maria. It made sense that Alina wouldn't send me the exact address of where he was keeping Stiles. The address he gave me was a viewing station, where he can see if I came alone or brought unwanted guests.I knew this, and that was why I was sharing my location with Maria and had a mini camera hidden in my hairpin. She was seeing everything that I was seeing, and the video was being saved as evidence against him. We needed to first ensure Stiles' safety and then get Alina's confession. The taxi came to a halt, and I highlighted the vehicle. I stood in front of the bar waiting for some sort of signal or anything. Then my phone buzzed with a message; I read it. ‘Move three buildings forward and enter the opposite building.’I obeyed. The opposite building was

Hannah's POV:Maria's eyes are wide, and her hands are shaky. I've never seen her like this before; she looked…scared.“What do you mean?” I replied, totally confused.“Where is Stiles?” She repeated, and this time I definitely heard her loud and clear. I think the whole hall did. The music had stopped. My head tilted to the sides in further confusion. The last I saw of Stiles was when I slammed my room door at him as he forced me to tell Maria that what she saw was a mistake that I caused. Typical Stiles. I haven't seen him since then, not that I was actively looking out for him though.“I didn't know it was my job to keep track of where your fiancé is.” I replied curtly, turning my attention back to the stage. People in the hall were now watching us.Great!Maria slammed something on the table in front of me. I looked down to see it was a note. If I can't have Hannah, no one can. Not you, not anybody else.’ The note read.My heart missed a beat. What was this?“I found it in our roo

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 75

Hannah's POV:The audacity was mind-blowing. He pinned me down in the elevator against my will and tried to kiss me but still had the guts to ask me to explain the situation to his fiancee. This must be some sort of stupid joke.“You want me to explain what exactly?” I questioned, trying to understand what made him think this was a good idea.“Just explain to her that she saw wrong.” He read out with ease, like that was the truth.“She saw wrong? So you didn't try to kiss me against my will?” I retorted. He rolled his eyes like I was being dramatic. “Oh please, you wanted that kiss too. You didn't move.”“Yes, because you held me down!!” My words came out louder than intended. Is this man delusional or just purely crazy?I took a small breath to relax myself.Stiles was the last person I ever wanted to get me worked up. He was scum and wasn't worth it.“You caused the problem yourself, so deal with it.” I pushed him backwards, and his foot blocking the door retreated as he struggled t

Hannah's POV“I really didn't think you would take it this far,” Lenora said when she stopped clapping. “But I'm impressed that you're willing to ruin your own brother's happiness just for your satisfaction.”I surged up, not with anger but with disgust. Fully repulsed that Lenora would try to use the issues with my brother against me. Especially when she knew what that felt like now.“What are you talking about?” I questioned. Her eyes dropped, a sad girl persona dawning on her features in an instant. "Don't act like you haven't been telling me Michael is no good for me. That he gets too emotionally dependent on people and drags them down.”I flinch at the sheer lie.Lenora knew exactly what to say that would hit. I knew what she said was a lie. She herself knew it too. But that didn't matter; the only thing that counted was that Michael believed her.Micheal ran to stand by her side; he cast me a hurtful glare, like I had betrayed something growing all over again.Lenora cut deeper.
