Chapter 2

Autor: Panda Code
I lunged forward to stop Noah.

He looked at me, his eyes filled with regret.

I pulled him into the room and, driven by the alcohol still burning inside me, my fingers fumbled at his belt.

"Noah… it's not your fault. It's all mine. I'll be the one to make it right."

Noah pulled me into his embrace and offered no resistance.

From that moment on, we were siblings in public, and lovers in private.

I thought that someday, our secret would be brought into the light.

Until today, I realized… it had all been my own wishful thinking.

I tossed every photo into the trash, slung my suitcase over my shoulder, and walked out of the house.

Just as I was about to hail a cab, I heard Noah's voice.

"Say goodbye to Lola before you go."

I turned toward the sound and, for the first time, saw the person standing behind him.

Lola wore a gentle smile. "Elena, long time no see."

I forced a stiff smile. "Lola."

She stepped closer and took my hand, her voice soft as she spoke about her life over the past few years.

But every story ended the same way. "I thought of Noah every single day."

I forced a smile and nodded along.

Then Lola leaned in, her tone playful yet edged, "Elena, tell me… has your brother been seeing anyone all this time?"

There was a subtle challenge in her voice, her gaze flicking toward the faint red marks on my neck.

I instinctively covered them.

Lola raised a knowing eyebrow. "Maybe Noah hadn't been dating… but it looks like you might have a boyfriend?"

Noah slid onto the bench beside her and let out a low chuckle.

"Elena's already engaged. We'll both be at the wedding."

Their closeness was natural, intimate, as if no one else existed.

I couldn't sit still any longer. Panic rising, I stood up abruptly.

"Noah… I—I should get going."

Lola paused, studied me for a moment, then stood up. "Your bag looks heavy. Let me carry it for you."

Before I could refuse, she'd already taken my suitcase in her quick hands. Smiling, she linked her arm through mine and guided me outside.

Along the way, she chatted lightly about funny memories she shared with Noah.

We only stopped when we reached the trash bin.

"Noah seems cold, but he's soft-hearted. So soft he couldn't even turn away his foster sister's advances."

She pointed at the photos in the trash, her smile curdling into a sneer.

"Elena… you're not the type to seduce your own brother, are you?"

The blood drained from my face. Panic locked me in place.

But Lola just laughed lightly.

Then, in a flash, she raised her hand and slapped her own face—hard.

I stared, stunned, unable to process what she'd just done.

Tears welled in her eyes.

"Elena! Even if you don't like me, you can't hit me!"

Before I could react, a sharp slap cracked beside my ear, followed by burning pain across my cheek.

I looked at Noah in disbelief.

He froze, staring at his own hand. "Elena, I…"

Before he could finish, Lola's tears spilled over again.

"Noah… maybe I shouldn't have come back. It's all my fault… If Elena hates me this much, maybe I should just leave."

She pushed him away, pretending to turn and go.

Noah immediately pulled her back into his arms, his voice trembling as he soothed her.

"Lola, I'm sorry… I never should have left you alone with her."

His voice shook with regret, heavy with fear and remorse—emotions he had never once shown for me.

Noah's face drained of all color. "How… how did you find out?"I gave a humorless smile and tossed my phone to him.He caught it with trembling hands and saw the photos in the chat. His jaw clenched, a low growl tearing from his throat."Lola! That… vile woman!"Watching him, I almost laughed. Love can curdle into rage; hatred can devour a person whole. Right now, he looked like he wanted to tear her apart."Noah… Samuel was right. You really are spineless. Don't come here anymore. Dad appeared in my dreams… he doesn't want you as a son now."He froze, his entire body trembling.I scoffed and turned to leave. But the moment I stepped outside, a flash of silver streaked toward me. Lola, her eyes bloodshot, was lunging at me with a sharp dagger. My legs went weak. Before I could react, the blade was almost at my chest. Then Samuel was there, stepping in front of me.The dagger sank into flesh. Warm blood sprayed across my face.Hearing the commotion, Noah rushed out and wre

Lola reappeared without any warning.Samuel's usual gentle expression vanished instantly. His smile turned sharp, almost cunning. "What does that have to do with our marriage?"I pressed my lips together. "I need to know."He looked at me as if nothing was wrong and easily pulled me into his arms.I struggled.Reluctantly, he guided us to a bench by the roadside and held my wrist firmly. "That woman… she was a refugee overseas. I offered her a sum of money."I frowned. "Why?"His gaze rested on me, a quiet intensity burning in his eyes. "Because of you. Elena, the first time I saw you, I knew I wanted you. Noah… he doesn't deserve you."He's weak. Spineless. Incapable of taking responsibility. If he could discard you for some ex whose history stretches back who knows how far, then he never deserved your love to begin with."He was stubborn—pushing too far.The truth in his words stung, but it also unsettled me. "You orchestrated all of this… just to marry me?"Samuel nodded.

"We were together for so long… Do you think I can't recognize the way someone in love looks?" Noah said.A wave of anger washed over me.I lifted my gaze to meet his.In that moment, I could see it all—the conflict in his eyes, the pain, the unwillingness to let go. Yet my voice came out steady and firm."Since you know what that look is… Then look at me now. Does my gaze hold anything for you anymore?"I took a deliberate step back, holding his stare.Noah stiffened. He searched my eyes, really looked. There was no trace of love—only a cold, hollow emptiness. He seemed unable to believe it. Leaning closer, he whispered, "How is that possible? How could you stop loving me?""Why should I keep loving you? Noah… I told you. From now on, you're just my brother."Anger darkened his expression. "Just your brother? What kind of siblings end up in bed together?"He lowered his head, his large hand cradling the back of my skull, pulling me toward him.Seeing his lips about to desc

My mother laughed into her hand. "Samuel must really like you. He called me almost every day while the place was being decorated to ask what you'd prefer. I haven't even seen it yet—let me take a look."I nodded and switched the camera to show her.Room by room, I gave her a tour.I couldn't hide the excitement in my own voice.Caught up in the moment, I forgot Noah was still there and accidentally panned the camera over him.My mother's expression immediately cooled. "Noah, what are you doing there?"I fell silent.Noah took the phone from my hand, his voice low and controlled. "I came to see Elena."My mother was quiet for a beat. "You've seen her. Now come home. After Elena's wedding, we'll discuss your marriage plans.""I—""Come home." Her tone left no room for argument.Noah's face paled. Finally, he closed his eyes, smiled bitterly, and said, "Alright."My mother gave a soft hmph and ended the call.Noah looked at me, opened his mouth as if to speak, then said nothi

Noah's expression darkened the moment he heard the address."Elena… come here," he repeated once more."Noah, please don't raise your voice to my fiancée," Samuel said.Noah's stormy gaze shifted to me. For some inexplicable reason, I thought I caught a flicker of pain in his usually detached eyes.He took a step closer, his voice dropping."Elena… I know you're angry. I shouldn't have hit you that day. I'm sorry… please, don't stay upset. I'm here to take you home."I looked at him, feeling nothing but absurdity."I'm not angry. You should go back on your own. I still need to see the wedding suite."Noah's stubborn eyes stayed fixed on me, and they seemed to glisten faintly.Samuel chuckled softly and gestured toward the building behind us. "Our wedding suite is right here. Would you like to see it… brother?"Noah pressed his lips together, silent.Frowning, I took Samuel's hand and began to walk. "Why would we show our home to someone else?"Samuel raised an eyebrow and g

  • After He Called Me Shameless   Chapter 5

Samuel took me to the Heyes family estate.Everyone was dressed formally, standing in orderly lines near the entrance. The moment they saw me, smiles spread across their faces.A few of the younger ones couldn't contain their excitement. "The stone heart finally cracked!"I was a little overwhelmed by the sudden warmth.Samuel's mother took my hand and led me inside with a comfortable familiarity. "Elena, don't mind them. Samuel is usually so strict with the younger generation—they've been waiting years for him to marry so someone would finally spoil him a little."I smiled, unsure how to respond.Sensing my shyness, his mother continued casually, "Most men his age already have two children. He was the only one refusing to settle down. We tried everything—coaxing, scolding, even setting up blind dates—but he wouldn't budge. Eventually, I gave up."I couldn't help but laugh at that.Samuel shot his mother an exasperated look. "Mom, really."She just winked at him before turning
