Brielle

“Because I should’ve been the one you married, Brielle.”

Those words struck me like a slap. My heart slammed in my chest, but not in the soft, fluttery way it used to when Jason whispered sweet nothings in my ear before.

No. This was a jagged, sharp sting.

An unwanted truth ripping through the fragile pieces of me that were still intact.

I took a step back, clutching the file tighter against my chest. “Excuse me?” My voice cracked.

Axel didn’t flinch. His gaze held mine, steady, unblinking, filled with a kind of intensity that made me feel stripped bare. “You heard me.”

“You’re out of your mind,” I snapped, shaking my head. “You stalk me for ten years, keep secrets about my husband, and now you want to stand there and act like some... some knight who was supposed to ride in and save me? Do you even hear yourself, Axel? That’s sick.”

His jaw tightened. “I didn’t say it to make you hate me.”

“Well, congratulations,” I shot back bitterly. “Mission accomplished.”

  • After He Took It All   The Legal Trap

Brielle’s POVI stared at the strange envelope laying neatly on my desk.Thicker than my usual envelopes. Cream-colored with another colour to it. A red stamp, with enough legal insignias to make my stomach drop before I even made a move to touch it.I stood in the foyer, heels still on, coat still draped over my arm, staring at the man who’d just handed it to me like he’d delivered a bomb instead of an actual paper.“Ms. Julliard,” he said politely, already stepping back as if staying any longer would cost him his job. “You’ve been served. Go through it carefully while you still can.”“Served? What do you mean by—”The door closed with a click before I could finish the question. Not that I needed to.I fucking knew what this was. This was Axel! I knew he wasn't to be trusted! I knew he was going to do exactly this!Rage tore through my body as I bit hard on my lips, eyes closing softly to swallow back the angry teats threatening to flow freely.Still, I didn’t tear it open right away

  • After He Took It All   Jason’s First Move

Jason’s POVThe TV flickered like it was on life support, and somewhere across the room, I could've sworn I heard a spark just around the corner.I didn't bother looking there though. All I could do was let out a frustrated sigh at the last minute decision I'd taken. The room smelled like cheap disinfectant and old sheets that made me gag. The kind of motel that didn’t bother hiding its stains because everyone who walked through here already knew what they were paying for. The wallpaper peeled in the corners. The carpet felt damp no matter where you stepped. And the bed—God, the bed—creaked even with the slightest movements you made.Thank goodness the room next to mine was completely vacant! I couldn't beat the thought of having a couple ruining what's left of the night for me!I sat on the edge of the bed carefully, elbows on my knees, staring at the news displaying on the screen.Headline: Brielle Julliard Returns to Power.Former CEO Reinstated After Presumed Death.Mystery Conti

  • After He Took It All   The Mother-in-Law’s Return

Axel’s POVI should’ve known her silence was just a start to something dangerous. That it was always going to be calm before the storm. That she was always going to wait for the perfect time to strike. The perfect time to destroy everything around me.The moment I stepped into the executive elevator, my assistant’s face told me everything I needed to know. Her eyes flickered with a forced composure, her hands clenched tightly behind her back as she spoke carefully with the clients around her. She wasn't the one to be walking on eggshells around me.And when she did, there was one person responsible for that.Well, two—but you get the point here.“She’s…waiting in your office,” she muttered to my hearing as I walked past her.I didn’t ask who it was.Didn't ask why they were there, or what it was they wanted.Because I already knew everything.I wish I didn't though. I wish I didn't know what was going to happen next. With a deep breath, the elevator doors closed behind me with a dul

  • After He Took It All   Dinner with the “Enemy”

Axel’s POVI didn’t come here planning to be calm.Heck, I came here expecting blood, some damn explanations, or at the very least—Alexei tied to a chair and being tortured to his limits just to break through my walls. What I definitely didn’t expect was… this.Brielle stood by the table, her posture composed and straightened, and the expression on her face unreadable as she ran a hand through her hair. Alexei, the supposed prisoner, hovered beside her like a man who knew he’d already signed his own death warrant and was just waiting for his time to come.I barely even registered that, when my gaze moved quietly to a freaking teapot steaming between them, alongside the few cups laying next to it untouched.Everything looked…. civil here. That was the word that hit me first.Civil.My jaw tightened. My eyes scanned the room on instinct—corners, exits, windows. The same old habits are taking over again. The necessary ones. I catalogued security placement without thinking, noted how clo

  • After He Took It All   The Reluctant Peace

Brielle’s POVFor exactly three seconds, I considered having him dragged off the property. Not because he was dangerous.Because he wasn’t.That was worse. That meant he was unpredictable, and probably good to be true.I've dealt with his kind before. The man standing in my garden with a cake box in his hands and panic written all over his face was very clearly not a threat. His posture gave him away—too open, too expressive. Too calm.Even with my security flanking me, guns half-raised, he didn’t calculate an exit or brace himself with empty threats. He just… swallowed back the alarms ringing at the back of his head and refused to give off any signs that'd prove me right. However, that was enough to tell me everything I wanted to know. The boys, of course, were unimpressed by the weapons. Leo was already halfway through his cookie. Milo clutched his like it might be confiscated at any second.“Mommy,” Milo said, tugging lightly at my sleeve, “he said don’t tell.”I looked down at h

  • After He Took It All   Alexei’s “Mission”

Alexei’s POVThere were moments in life where you realized you were the only sane person in a room full of powerful lunatics. Now, this was one of those moments.I stared at my phone for a solid thirty seconds, rereading the same message Axel had sent me at 2:47 a.m.Do not interfere, Alexei.I’ll handle it.I always do.Right.Because that had gone so well the last time.I tossed the phone on the kitchen counter and leaned back against it, arms crossed, staring at the ceiling of my penthouse like solutions were going to spawn anytime soon.It didn’t. As a matter of fact, it never did.Axel and Brielle were officially at war. They both weren't holding back anymore.Which meant—by default—someone had to make sure the collateral damage didn’t include two toddlers who had no idea their parents were terrifying apex predators fighting over some boardroom privileges. And apparently, that someone was me.“Congratulations, Alexei,” I muttered to myself. “You’ve officially become a responsibl
