"She's gone?" I repeated, my heart in my throat.

I staggered to the armchair, slumping on it in frustration.

The words I had dread, the words I never wished to hear, I didn't just hear it, it was true.

"Where did she go?" I asked, my voice lower than I expected, my tone deeper and laced with more brokenness than I expected.

I had thought about this day, worked to void it but I never actually thought it would come to pass... I never expected it to come so soon.

"Gone to where?" I asked again, my voice wavering, my desperate attempt at covering up my broken insides failing woefully as I looked up at Celeste, hoping for any tiny bit of hope she could give me.

Celeste didn't move from the doorway, she just looked at me with a cold stare that made me feel even worse,

"Didn't you just say maybe this was all for the best and how she was just looking for an excuse to leave?". She reminded me.
