MasukAlexander said nothing. He simply walked beside him, lighting a cigarette as if the conversation didn't concern him.
"You need to get out of your head for one night, man. Seriously."
"I'm fine," Alexander finally replied, taking out his pack of cigarettes and handing it to Arthur.
"Liar." Arthur lit a cigarette, taking a drag before continuing. "You literally just got lectured about marriage, business, and legacy. I know how suffocating that feels."
Alexander remained silent. They eventually stopped beside their cars, staring up at the night sky.
After a moment, Arthur opened his car door. "Come on, just try it. I'll send you the owner's number. If I didn't trust the place, I wouldn't recommend it to you. Your privacy will be protected."
He paused, a faint grin tugging at the corner of his lips. "The madam's picky. She only keeps the best girls. Trust me, you won't be disappointed." Hearing his cousin ramble on, Alexander let out a quiet sigh. "Just go. I've heard enough about your nightlife." Arthur chuckled. "Thank me later."With that, Arthur got into his car and drove away leaving Alexander alone with his thoughts. He took another drag from his cigarette, exhaling slowly into the night.
Seeing several members of the Harrington family stepping out of his parents' mansion, Alexander stubbed out his cigarette before getting into the passenger seat of the car. The driver started the engine, and they pulled away into the quiet night.
Not long after, his phone rang. Catherine's name appeared on the screen. Alexander let out a sigh before answering the call.
"You’re not driving yourself, are you?" Catherine asked immediately as soon as the call connected.
"Hm."
"Let me know when you get home. Remember."
"Yeah."
Before Catherine could say anything else, Alexander had already ended the call. At the same moment, a new message from Arthur came in.
[Arthur: Rosaline's number: +44...]
[Arthur: Go easy on her, Casanova. Don't make Edward a grandfather tonight 😉] Alexander stared at the messages for a moment before shifting his gaze to the road outside.Maybe Arthur was right.
It had been a long time since he had been with anyone. Maybe one night was enough to silence the noise in his head.
Alexander's thoughts were still consumed by everything that had happened during dinner by the time he arrived at the mansion. As soon as he stepped inside, he ran into Emily, the housekeeper who had taken care of his personal needs for years."Prepare some clothes for me. I'm going out again," he said, handing her his suit jacket.
"Where?"
"I just need some fresh air."
"But if Mrs. Harrington finds out, she'll be angry."
"Then don't let her find out."
Once he was in his bedroom, Alexander stared at the number Arthur had sent. He knew this was probably a bad idea. For a moment, he considered putting his phone down and forgetting about it. But before he could change his mind, his finger pressed the call button.
"Hello. Madam Rosaline speaking," the voice of a mature woman came from the other end of the line.
Alexander tightened his grip on his phone. It was the first time in his life he had ever called a woman like Rosaline. He searched for something to say but came up blank. "Arthur gave me your number," he said at last. It was the only thing he could think of. "I've been expecting your call, Mr. Harrington. When will you be coming?" Alexander glanced toward the door just as Emily walked in, carrying the clothes he had asked for earlier. He lowered the volume on his phone. "In a little while." "I'll make sure everything is ready by the time you arrive. I'll text you the address." Alexander was about to end the call when Rosaline spoke again. "And what kind of woman would you like?" Alexander fell silent for a brief moment. He hadn't given it any thought. "I'll leave that to you."A soft chuckle came through the receiver. "I like your answer. I think I have just the woman for you."
The call ended.
Alexander let out a slow breath. What was he getting himself into? He remained by the window, his gaze fixed on the view outside.
Just then, Emily walked over to Alexander. Without saying a word, she reached for his shirt and began unbuttoning it, one button at a time. A shy smile lingered on her lips as her fingertips occasionally brushed against the firm muscles of his chest.
"You don't have to do that," Alexander said, finally pulling himself out of his thoughts.
"It's part of my job, Mr. Harrington. Please, let me." Emily's smile never wavered.
Before she could reach for the next button, Alexander gently caught her wrist. "You can go, I'll take it from here," he said, his voice calm but firm.
Emily's expression faltered for only a second.
Without another glance, Alexander stepped away from her. A few minutes later, he left his bedroom and walked out of the mansion. He headed toward his car, where the driver was already waiting.
"Sir, please let me take you there," the driver said as Alexander reached for the driver's door.
Alexander raised one finger, signaling him to stop. “If my mother asks, tell her I’m home and resting. Don't tell her anything else. Understood?"
The driver hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, sir."
Alexander got into the car and drove away.
Tonight, he wanted nothing more than a brief escape. One night with a stranger. No attachments. No commitments. Nothing more.
Alexander sat on his bedroom balcony, going over a film script while enjoying the cool morning breeze. Not long after, Emily walked in with a cup of coffee. It was part of his morning routine to have coffee before eating a heavier breakfast at nine.Just as he was about to put his script aside, his eyes caught sight of a gardener and Daphne walking briskly toward the mansion's back garden."You can go," Alexander said as he stood up. He took his coffee with him before taking a sip at the edge of the balcony. As Emily was about to leave, she followed Alexander's gaze. She briefly glanced at the expression on his face before quietly leaving the room. From up there, Alexander could see almost the entire garden. He spent the entire morning watching them harvest the crops. His eyes followed Daphne's every move."Don't..." Alexander whispered when he saw Daphne kneel down to dig the soil for potatoes. “Doesn't this mansion have another gardener or something?”A moment later, the two figures
Daphne was the first to react. She gently slipped her hand free, unable to bring herself to meet his gaze.Alexander instinctively glanced at the front of Daphne's maid uniform. His gaze lingered there for a moment before he quickly looked away. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a long sigh."Ask Katarina for another uniform tomorrow."Daphne glanced down at her uniform for a moment before finally looking back up. "Why?""Just do it.""You can't tell me what to wear."Alexander fell silent for a moment. "It's too tight."An awkward silence settled between them. Alexander shifted slightly, and the small space between them disappeared completely. There was no space between them now, close enough for them to feel each other's breath.“If I noticed it, other men would too,” Alexander continued, his expression as unreadable as ever.Daphne was left speechless. She knew exactly what he meant. "What... happened there stays there. Please... forget everything," she whispered softly.H
Daphne stood in front of a towering iron gate, wondering if she had come to the wrong address. After watching her hesitate for a moment, one of the security guards approached her. "Can I help you, miss?"Despite her nerves, Daphne gathered her courage and spoke. "Mr. Harrington gave me this." She handed him the business card from the night before. The guard's expression softened with recognition. "Ms. Daphne?" he asked.Daphne nodded, offering a small smile as relief washed over her."Please, come right this way."As the massive gates slowly opened, Daphne felt a shiver run down her spine. Just yesterday morning, she had walked into a brothel. This morning, she was stepping into a luxurious mansion so magnificent that she could barely believe her eyes. The familiar feeling of nervousness and not belonging immediately settled over her once again.Daphne swallowed nervously as she sat on the sofa in the staff lounge, surrounded by several maids. The way they looked at her made her feel
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. After tonight, I can't keep you here," Rosaline said, watching as Daphne kept her head lowered. She rose from her seat and walked over to the cabinet. A moment later, she returned with an envelope and handed it to Daphne. "This is your payment for tonight. Mr. Harrington also left you a tip."Daphne lowered her gaze, clutching the envelope in her hands. "Did he tell you what happened in the room?"Rosaline tilted her head slightly, trying to catch Daphne's downcast eyes. She gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind Daphne's ear, her expression softening."No. He only told me to make sure you received your payment." Rosaline gently lifted Daphne's chin with the tip of her finger. "My decision has nothing to do with him. I just don't think you belong in a place like this.""I understand." Daphne forced a small smile. She understood. Rosaline was only doing what any business owner would do. She needed someone who could handle the job, and Daphne clearly wasn't
When he leaned in, Daphne flinched ever so slightly and instinctively pulled back.Their eyes met. Alexander held her gaze, silently weighing something in his mind."If you want me to stop, then I will."Several seconds passed, yet Daphne gave no response. All he could see in her eyes was fear.Alexander immediately pulled away. He didn't need an answer anymore. From the very beginning, he had sensed that something was off. At first, he had convinced himself that Daphne was simply nervous. But now it was clear that she was uncomfortable, even frightened by what they were doing."I'm sorry. I messed everything up. I'll try again. I'll do better." Daphne blurted out.Alexander grabbed the blanket and tossed it toward Daphne. "Cover yourself." His expression hardened, every trace of warmth disappearing from his face.Several minutes passed. The two of them sat in silence. Alexander sat at the edge of the bed with his back facing Daphne. His gaze was fixed on the view outside the window
Rosaline gently lifted Daphne's chin with the tip of her finger. "You're lucky, sweetheart. Most girls don't get a client like this on their first day. So don't disappoint him."A chill ran down Daphne's spine. She had no idea what kind of man was waiting for her. But from the way Rosaline spoke, he was someone important. And somehow, that terrified her even more."Make the most of this opportunity. We never know what the future holds," Rosaline said before stepping aside and opening the door. "Now go. Don't make him wait too long."Just as Daphne was about to walk past her, Rosaline stopped her one last time."Head up. Good posture. Confidence. Beauty may catch a man's eye, but confidence keeps it. Move like you're the only woman in his world."Daphne straightened her posture at once. With a deep breath, she stepped out of the dressing room.Rosaline watched her disappear down the corridor. "Sometimes, a single night changes everything," she murmured to herself.*****Alexander sat o
