Chapter 2 Take Advantage of Each Other

I suddenly felt a bit suffocated, and in my fear, I fell back on those words.

Yes, Kent had no status in the Harris family even if he had no status at all, then he was still the son of the Harris family.

If I want to avoid Carey's retaliation in a short period of time, I have to find a person who can fight against the Harris family's background to take refuge.

But I came from an ordinary background, so naturally, I couldn't possibly know someone who was even more powerful than the Harris family background, but there was someone from the Harris family right in front of me!

Thinking of this, I met the pair of cold eyes, cheekily asked back, "Do you want to marry me?"

Not realising I'd taken the joke seriously, Kent snorted coldly, the contempt in his eyes evident, "I don't want just any woman, let alone one who's been sleeping with Carey for three years."

I tightened the hand at my side and calmly returned, "You know, why Carey cheated on me? It's because I never had intercourse with him in those three years, and I had wanted to stay on our wedding night, but ......"

Kent raised an eyebrow unexpectedly, he hooked his lips in interest, his eyes inscrutable, "So, what sincerity can Miss Miriam show me?"

I bit my lip and leaned forward stiffly under the man's blunt gaze, brushing my palms over his solid chest and pressing my hot breasts close to Kent's body.

In this position, it seemed very much like I was seducing this man.

Warm, smooth breath landed on the top of my head, and I was nervous as hell, but I lifted my head, my tone firm, "You can do anything you want to me, even, make love to me here."

  That was my sincerity.

Kent lowered his eyes, his gaze crossing over those eyes that were so clear they burned, eventually landing on the slightly trembling palms of his hands on his chest.

I'm clearly scared to death, but I'm trying to force myself to stay calm.

However, daring to go out on a limb like that means I'm not fooling anyone either.

Thinking of this, Kent clutched my slender wrists, and he lowered his head to take in those seductive red lips with a hint of ruthlessness in his intensity.

I was startled and instantly tried to recoil.

Just made a struggle, the man whirled around and let go of me, his eyes with a tease, "Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, we go to the marriage."

  ......

  The next morning.

Marriage certificate smoothly held in my hands.

Looking at the photo on the certificate, the man's eyebrows were stern and unsmiling, while I was expressionless, staring indifferently at the camera, the two faces did not have half the joy of being a newlywed couple.

  I smiled to myself.

Originally today was the day that Kerry and I received our licence, the time was set at two o'clock in the afternoon, but now the groom has been temporarily changed, it's really ridiculous to think about it.

When I was in a daze, the marriage certificate in my hand was snatched away by a big hand.

I subconsciously looked at the elegant man beside me, only to see Kent casually shoving the marriage certificate to an assistant at the side, while signalling, "Send her to the Larry Villa area."

"Yes." The assistant nodded and looked towards me.

I looked puzzled, "What do I need to do at the Villa Larry area?"

At those words, Kent, who was about to leave, paused in his steps and gave a sly sideways glance, "We are husband and wife, husband and wife should live together shouldn't we?"

My pupils shrank, obviously not having considered this.

As if he could see what was on my mind, Kent sneered, "Miss Miriam, do you think marriage is a game?"

After a pause, he leaned down closer, hooking his lips, but his eyes were shadowy and cold, and his cool, wave-free voice was like the devil's whisper, "Since you want to marry me and use me to fend off Kerry's retaliation, you have to be ready to willingly sacrifice yourself."

The implication is that there is no free lunch in the world, he will not be used for no reason.

I shuddered, a flicker of scorn flashing under my eyes.

In other words, while I was using this man, this man would also use me?

Eventually, before being dropped off at my place in the Villa Larry area, I was going to make a trip back to my second uncle's house to pack my bags.

Kent's assistant was responsible for driving me back.

On the way, an abrupt mobile phone ringtone sounded in the car.

I took out my mobile phone and saw that Kerry's incoming call was being displayed on the screen, and my breath paused violently.

But soon, I hang up the call without hesitation, not forgetting to blacklist it.

As I did so, an eye-catching tweet appeared on the screen.

The headline was "Scandal! Kent Harris cheated on his fiancée before marriage, and his fiancée's cousin had a private meeting in a villa last night, which accidentally started a fire, and the two of them escaped in a mess!"

Clicking on the news content, which in addition to text description, also attached several convincing photos.

Although the photos were taken from a surreptitious perspective, they were able to clearly see the image of Carey coming out of the wedding house with his arm around Mary, and the two of them ending up leaving in the same car, as well as quite a number of property owners coming out of the house with fire extinguishers in their hands.

Scrolling further down the page, it was the same newspaper that my best friend Nalise and I work for that sent out the story.

It seems that Nalise arrived last night in time to take these photos, and wrote the press release overnight, rushing to have the editor-in-chief review it this morning before posting it.

No wonder Kerry had called out of the blue, must have been trying to get me not to believe the news on the internet.

I took a deep breath and tried to dispel the sourness in the bottom of my heart.

I'd shaken this thing out as I'd hoped, but I'd also put myself in a dangerous situation, but I had no regrets.

I just wanted to bring the disgusting behaviour of this pair of scummy bitches out into the open, so that everyone could see their ugly true colours!

Arriving at the Maribler's villa, I got out of the car and raised my eyes to see a familiar Maybach parked in the courtyard.

  It was Carey's car.

I didn't realise he was at my uncle's house.

Gathering my emotions, I pushed my way in.

As soon as I raised my eyes, two familiar figures were standing in the entranceway pulling at each other, seemingly arguing about something.

Hearing the movement, the two subconsciously turned back.

Seeing me, Kerry's face was delighted, immediately shaking off Mary's hand, welcoming me forward and asking, "Miriam, where have you been? Why didn't you answer my call?"

"Working overtime." I indifferently misplaced his gaze, changed my shoes and walked past him.

This cold look had never been seen before, and Carey panicked and took my hand, "Did you see all that fake news on the internet?"

I paused in my steps, and met his affectionate gaze with a sideways glance, "Whether it's fake news or not, you know in your heart."

Seeing this, Mary on the side, with an innocent face, anxiously struck up a conversation, "Sister, you must believe us, this is a misunderstanding! Last night, Carey just asked me to go to your wedding room to help decorate it, because he wants to surprise you today!"

After a pause, Mary sighed softly in regret, "I just didn't realise that your bridal room suddenly caught fire because of a circuit problem, but luckily it was discovered in time, and not much was lost, so it will soon be repaired properly."

Carey nodded, "Yes, those news online I've already let people in suppressing the heat, also found a famous PR team, will soon be able to eliminate the impact! This time, it should be the rivals in the business world who are deliberately against me, that's why they made up such an outrageous thing to use it to ruin the Harris family's reputation through me!"

Listening to their impeccable rhetoric, I only felt clumsy and ridiculous.

I snorted lightly and spoke abruptly, "You're wrong."

  Kerry froze slightly, "What?"

Meeting his puzzled eyes, I lightly opened my red lips and spoke in a calm tone, "I'm the one who's working against you, not your rivals in the business world."
