Chapter 3 Argument with Mary

Carey's expression froze, "What do you mean?"

Mary, who was beside him, also changed her face, and a strange light flashed in her eyes.

  "RING!"

A mobile phone caller ring suddenly intervened the stagnant atmosphere.

Carey took out his mobile phone, the screen showed the landline phone number of Harris' house, his pupils shrunk, and he hurriedly went to the side first to answer it.

The person on the other end of the phone seemed to say something to him, and I could see Carey's face tense with flesh.

And then he hung up and hurried back to me, "I need to go home now."

Although he still hadn't figured out what I had just said, the most important thing right now was a trip home.

After a pause, he looked at me fondly, his tone serious: "Miriam, don't think about it for a while, don't easily listen to rumours on the internet, I'll come over to find you again in the evening."

I snorted coldly in the bottom of my heart and indifferently averted my face.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes last night, I might have been fooled by Carey's innocent look!

Carey rushed back and soon left the Jiang family home.

I was heading in the direction of the stairway, when Mary swept away her harmless look from earlier and quickly stepped forward to block my way, opening the door, "Sister, that report on the internet was sent out by the newspaper you work for, and it can't be unconnected to you, can it?"

I raised my eyes and asked back with a cold smile, "What, before I even questioned you, you've taken the initiative to admit to the sordid affair between you and Carey?"

At those words, Mary's face became annoyed and her tone was agitated, "What sordid thing? We truly love each other! I'm also not afraid to tell you, Carey has long disliked you, but was afraid that you would be sad, so he delayed breaking up with you."

My eyes darkened, trying to calm my fluctuating emotions, one hand silently reached into my bag and fumbled for the recorder, maintaining composure on my face, "So, I have to thank him for thinking of me so much?"

After a pause, a sneer tugged at the corner of my lips, "I really admire you for being with him regardless of your reputation."

Mary hugged her arms good-naturedly, "People won't believe this fiasco with Carey setting it up and turning it around quickly anyway."

So her reputation wouldn't be affected in any way.

Saying that, Mary provocatively added, "If you're the one who exposed this furore, I'd have to thank you instead. After all, I've been by Carey's side for two years now, and I want a name too."

I shuddered, my eyes widening in disbelief.

Two years? These two had actually been hanging out together for that long without my knowledge?

Seeing my devastated look, Mary had a smug look on her face, "Don't be too sad, with an ordinary family like yours to marry into the Harris family would not have been looked upon favourably, my family at least has money, I won't disgrace Carey."

Saying this, she patted my shoulder, condescendingly mocked, "As for you, you won't be able to fly off the branch and become a phoenix, after all, your parents are just like trash, your family is destined for a life of misery."

Not being able to tolerate my family being denigrated, my eyes flashed and I raised my hand to swing at the right side of her face.

  "Slap-" The slap landed hard.

Mary was caught off guard as a fiery pain hit her face.

In the next second, she reacted and lunged forward with open teeth and claws, "I, I'll fight you!"

My eyes were quick and I avoided her.

Mary was caught off guard, and her entire body fell to the ground.

Just as she got up and was about to continue to pounce forward, I took a step back and quickly drew out the recorder in my bag, warning in a cold voice, "Mary, trouble comes out of the mouth, you'd better remember that!"

Mary was stunned, her eyes falling on the recorder in her hand.

By the time Mary came over, I had already turned around and exited Buehler's house.

Mary's face went white, anxiously chasing after me, "Stop right there!"

Without looking back, I quickly got into the car waiting outside and took off, looking back to the rear, only to see Mary, who had chased me out, stomping her feet in anger, unsure of what to do at the same spot.

I withdrew my eyes and discreetly put away the recorder before rubbing my brow wearily.

Now I have enough leverage in my hands that I don't have to fear being bitten back in the future.

It's just that the luggage left at my uncle's house can't be taken away for the time being, so I'll have to find some other time.

After a while, Kent's assistant sent me to a cold and quiet single-family house, provided the password to open the door and then left first.

  I entered the house smoothly.

Looking around, I was amazed to find that the entire villa was empty, with dust flying in the air and no hint of life, coupled with the minimalist dark décor, it looked like a haunted mansion set in a film.

It turns out that as the Harris family's youngest son, there is no outsider imagined that kind of glamour and grandeur, more like a randomly dispatched beggar living in this secluded area.

And here, is also my future residence.

On the other side, in the Harris family.

Inside the living room, a figure knelt from daylight until dark without leaving, unwilling to get up no matter how much the people next to him persuaded them.

Kent finished dinner and came out from the dining room, when he passed by the door of the living room, he saw Carey who was still kneeling inside, his footsteps slightly paused, and a cold smile swept across the corner of his lips.

Only a large, conspicuous bruise hung on Carey's forehead, and there was a broken ashtray in front of him.

This is today Harris old man learnt that the reputation of the Harris family because of the "good things" done by Kerry led to a drop, in a rage smashed over, and then the old man directly walked away, did not give Kerry any opportunity to open up.

At the moment, in the face of today's drip of Kerry, his mother Maysan is trying to persuade him.

Carey did not say a word, unintentionally turned his head, coincidentally and the long figure outside the door to meet the line of sight, his eyes darkened.

Kent, however, hooked his lips and smiled, speaking in a faint voice, "I'm sorry that I can't see you and Miriam return home to host a dinner party after getting your licence today, say hello to her for me."

Carey's face sank and he silently tightened the hand at his side.

Today was a crucial day, a turning point in his life, and yet it had gone so wrong, and this half-brother was clearly looking at him funny!

At the same time, Meishan blocked in front of Carey with a protective look, fearing that the other party would hurt her precious son.

Seeing this, Kent couldn't help but snort coldly with a disdainful look in his eyes, then moved to leave the spot.

Out of the door of the house, the assistant far greeted him and respectfully reported, "President, Miss Miriam has already been received at Villa Larry."

After a pause, he opened the car door in the backseat and asked in a low voice, "Do you want to go to the Harris Group to deal with your work now, or go back to your residence?"

At that, Kent teasingly hooked his lips, "How can a husband and wife not live together on their wedding night?"

Saying that, he bent down into the car, and said succinctly, "To the Villa Larry area."

The faint smell of alcohol swept across the tip of his nose, and the assistant froze, his face shocked.

Shouldn't he remind his boss that he just drank alcohol and it's best to calm down first and not run around?
