18 - Finding Nate (Part 1)

Over the short span of a day, Eira picked up a few spells and executed them well. Josh had even remarked that she had done the summoning spell better than him and that made her grin non-stop.

She learnt soon enough, however, that witchcraft was a tiresome deal. The ache in her sore muscles got more unbearable as she boarded up the spiral staircase. Out of habit, her fingers trailed over the metal railings at the sides and came away dusty. It seemed strange to her that the area was always covered with dust even though there was no way for it to enter.

The hungry rumbling noises in her stomach grew louder as Eira inched closer to the kitchen. Josh had said she would find Nate in there. He was supposed to assist her in Josh's absence; basically as a target to execute spells on and check if they were really effective.
