Mag-log inChapter Five —“ Get out of my life "
The twins sat quietly in the back seat as I drove out of my parents’ compound. I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, blinking hard so the road wouldn’t blur. My chest felt tight, like someone had wrapped a rope around it and kept pulling. I was scared even though I took the brave step to tell my mother that I was ready for what was next but a part of me still wanted things to work with Drew Drew was the only man I had ever loved since the one-night mistake that changed my life forever. After that night at eighteen, after the man who got me pregnant disappeared like I never existed, I had sworn I would never love again. And yet… I loved Drew. Even when he made it hard. Even when he didn’t love me back. I had endured so much because I believed patience could fix anything, because I had fallen in love with this man after my life had been shattered years ago and I vowed to never love any man But now his past lover had resurfaced and I knew nothing would ever be the same again. Still, I lied to myself that i was read for whatever was coming. “Mom?” Liam’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I glanced at him through the rearview mirror. His eyes were fixed on me, too observant for a child his age. “You’re crying,” he said softly. I forced a smile. “I’m okay, baby.” He shook his head. “You don’t have to worry about us.” My hands tightened around the steering wheel. “I heard Grandma,” he continued. “She said you have to go see our stepdad. And if he doesn’t want you to spend time with us… we’ll be fine.” My heart broke. Before I could respond, Luna leaned forward between the seats, her eyes shiny with unshed tears. “No,” she said firmly. “We won’t be fine.” I swallowed, I wasn’t ready for this conversation. . “Since Mom got married to him, she doesn’t see us much,” Luna continued, her small voice trembling. “We only see her on TV with him. She only comes once a week.” Her lip quivered. “I miss the way we used to be.” “ Don’t be selfish, Mom did all of this for us “ I took a deep breath and slowed down, pulling over for a moment. I turned around to face them. “Do you want to see where Mom lives?” I asked gently. Luna nodded immediately. Liam didn’t say anything, but his eyes lit up just a little. I knew that look. He wanted to see too. I started the car again and turned the wheel. If Drew was going to spend the weekend with his lover, then I would spend it with my children. The twins were silent when we arrived in front of the house. They stared up at the massive building, their mouths slightly open. “This is where you live?” Luna whispered. I smiled weakly. “Yes. Wait till you see inside. And my room too.” “ It’s so big …” Liam added . “ I wonder why we can’t stay here with you “ Luna sighed and I smiled at her . “ You guys can spend the weekend here with me …Just three of us “ For the first time that day, excitement slipped into my voice. I stepped out, took their hands, and walked to the door. The moment I opened it,My breath caught in my throat. On the couch. My couch. Our couch Drew had his hands tangled in another woman’s hair, his mouth pressed against hers, she was moaning to his touch . For a split second, time froze. Then instinct kicked in. I covered Liam and Luna’s eyes with my palms immediately. “Close your eyes,” I whispered urgently. “Don’t look.” My heart pounded so hard it hurt, I staggered but maintained my balance . Drew pulled away when he noticed me. His face drained of color, he was as shocked to me but he didn’t look like he regretted what he was doing. I guided the twins back outside without a word, my hands shaking as I opened the car. “Stay here,” I told them, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’ll be back.” Luna grabbed my wrist. “Mom…” “I’ll be right back,” I repeated, I caught a glimpse of Liam, his fist was clenched that moment , I knew even him wanted to protect me . I closed the door gently and walked back inside. Drew was buttoning his shirt when I returned. The woman beside him crossed her arms, looking me up and down slowly. “So,” she said with a smirk, “I finally meet who he settled for in person. You’re even worse than I imagined.” I didn’t look at her. My eyes were locked on Drew. “I thought you were at your parents’ house,” he said, as if this was some small misunderstanding. Something snapped inside me. “Aren’t you supposed to be out of the country?” I screamed. “But you’re here? cheating on me in our house! With her!” “Lower your voice,” he said calmly.. “You’re overreacting.” Overreacting? I laughed hysterically, then cried at the same time. My fists hit his shoulder again and again as everything I had buried exploded. “I endured you!” I screamed. “For two years! I tolerated everything!” I hit him again. “You stopped touching me! You stopped looking at me! And still, I never looked at another man!” Tears streamed down my face. “I was loyal to you!” I cried. “You promised to love me! To protect me after our vows ! But you mistreated me. You broke me every day!” The woman scoffed. “He never loved you. It was me. It’s always been me.” I turned to Drew, I was shaking to the point my legs were beginning to fail me . “Then why didn’t you marry her?” I yelled. “Why marry me and torment me?” He suddenly grabbed my wrist, stopping my hand mid-air. “How about you?” he shouted. “When were you going to tell me you had kids?” My heart skipped. “You and your family lied to me,” he continued angrily. “Those twins are not foster children! They’re yours!” I stopped struggling to let go of his rip grip. . “Yes,” I said firmly. “They’re mine.” I was done trying to hide the only source of my joy . “ Yes ! Liam and Luna are my children! Yes !” Kirah scoffed . “ How pathetic!” I placed my hand on my stomach. “I carried them for nine months. I struggled all my life with them. We have been through hell together.” My voice shook, but I didn’t stop. “I am tired of hiding them. Yes! they are my children.” He shoved me back onto the couch. I gasped as my back hit the cushion. Drew walked to the drawer, pulled out an envelope, and tossed it at me. It landed on my lap. “Those are divorce papers,” he said coldly. “Sign them. I lost every feeling I thought I had for you the day I found out you lied to me.” His eyes were empty. “Sign it,” he repeated. “And get out of my life.”Chapter 55Drew's pov I had all my cards played out during my last meeting with Alia. Now all I had to do was wait for her decision. But waiting wasn’t as easy as I thought. From the moment she left my office yesterday, the day went by more slowly than usual. And after sending her that email, I kept refreshing my inbox over and over again, but she hadn’t responded.I stood up from my office chair and rested against the edge of the table, crossing my legs and staring at nothing in particular. The office was quiet except for the faint hum of the air conditioner. I looked at the clock on the wall, a few minutes for the meeting to start and Alia still wasn’t here.A knock sounded on the door.I felt a sigh of relief leave my chest. She must be the one.“Come in,” I replied instantly. The door opened. It was my secretary. The relief disappeared and was replaced with disappointment.“Yes?” I answered harshly.“Sir, I just came to remind you of the meeting. It’s starting now.”“I’m aware of
Chapter 54I’ll give you the money,” Harry blurted out.I froze.Harry had been waiting for me with a congratulatory note and flowers, with a big smile on his face when I got home. But the moment I shared the news with him, the smile disappeared. Shock settled on his face, and ever since then he had been trying to think of ways I could get through this. But this offer? That wasn’t a solution I thought he would come up with.“I can’t take it, Harry.” I stood up forcefully. I was becoming restless. I paced around the room.“Alia, trust me, that’s the only option you have now. And I don’t mind giving you the money. That is way better than you having to work with that man.”“You don’t understand, Harry.” I turned to him. “That money is worth a lot. It’s even worth more than half my company.”“I know,” he said firmly, running a frustrated hand through his hair. “But I won’t just sit and do nothing while your company is at stake. It might be a lot of money, but I honestly don’t mind.”“I ca
Chapter 53I walked into that building confident. Now I’m walking out bound to the last man I ever wanted to work with.I opened my car door forcefully and threw my bag and files into the backseat. The files scattered before landing messily on the chair.“Shit… shit…” I bent my head against the steering wheel, hitting it repeatedly. The dull sound echoed inside the car.The excitement I had felt this morning was completely gone. Right now, I didn’t even know what I was feeling, anger, frustration, or maybe helplessness. It all mixed together until I could barely breathe.“Unbelievable,” I muttered, dragging in a sharp breath as I slowly raised my head.My reflection in the windshield looked nothing like the confident woman who had walked in earlier. My hair was scattered around my face, my mascara slightly smudged beneath my eyes.I brushed my hair back.I need to call my lawyer. There has to be a way out. I’ve worked so hard to make sure Drew remains in the past. I can’t go back down
Chapter 52Alia's pov “I’m so glad I’m finally back to doing business deals,” I said to Harry on the phone as I drove to my appointment, my fingers tapping lightly against the steering wheel.“I can hear the excitement in your voice, sunshine.”“I bet you can” I giggled softly “ But I don’t know why the owner suddenly decided not to be anonymous. It’s weird to me though.”“I’m sure it’s nothing, Harry. Mr. Philip said the CEO needed to speak to me one-on-one.” I shrugged lightly even though he couldn’t see me.“Yeah, you said so. Anyways, just let me know if anything comes up. I’m sure you will nail it as always.”“I hope so. Alright, I’ll call you after the meeting. Take care.”“You too, Lia.”The call ended.Everything looked beautiful this morning — the sky, the air but I knew the real source of my joy. I had missed rushing to go to work, sitting in the office brainstorming ideas, meeting clients, and executing projects. I straightened in my seat, feeling that familiar spark ret
Chapter 51 Drew's povEven if I have a fucking gun to my head, don’t help. Those were Alia’s words. She would rather choose death than get any help from me. That’s how much she resents me. The memory of her voice made my blood run cold. Will her knowing about the possibility of me being the kids’ father change that?Or will it make her hate me even more? Those questions kept replaying in my head, even hours after the confrontation. I leaned back in my chair, staring blankly at nothing, but all I could see was her face.I was this close to telling Alia—this close. No interruptions from anyone, not even Harry. When she asked me that question, the words almost slipped out. I might be your kids’ father. For a second, I imagined saying it. Imagined the look on her face—the shock, the disbelief, and rage she will show.I swallowed hard. I wasn’t a coward; I had never been. But I couldn't act impulsively. I needed to be calculative.Dropping that kind of bomb on her while she was already fr
Chapter 50“Drew!” I yelled the moment I caught sight of him.The sound of my voice came out louder than I intended. He dismissed the nurse with a nod before turning to face me.“Wasn’t expecting to see you here, Alia.” He stood up, sliding the envelope into his pocket, his expression unreadable. “How are you?”Like he didn’t already know.I stepped closer. “Don’t do that.” I tightened my fists, feeling my nails press into my hands.“Do what?” He raised his eyebrow.I hated how calm he looked. It just made me angrier.“Don’t play dumb with me, Drew. You know exactly what I’m talking about.” I pointed at him, speaking through clenched teeth. I could feel the heat rising in my chest. His jaw tightened slightly, but he didn’t really react. “We’ll talk some other time, Alia.” He turned his back to walk away.I moved right in front of him. “Drew, you’re not leaving here until you answer my question. Seems all the words I’ve been telling you have been falling on deaf ears. Why are you allow
