Victor's POV

Frustration tried to claw its way out of my chest as I sped back to the sanctuary of my office. My fingers gripped the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned white.

I drove the car in complete silence, letting nothing shelter my mind from the storm of my tumultuous thoughts.

The meeting was a disaster.

Not only were The Collective's proposed terms and conditions near nothing what I'd envisioned a collaboration would actually be, I was more angry with the fact that it wasn't even Emelia who came.

That was probably the worst part of it all.

I hated how high my expectations were when I should've known better.

It's not like I was given a reason to hold her to such estimations.

Yet, my heart still raced with the possibility… the hope.

Once I made it back to my headquarters and sulked my way up the steps and past the workspace, I b-lined for my office without saying a word to anyone. Silence slowly descended upon the space as I walked by, each step weighted with disap

Emelia's POVMost of my morning was spent catching up on more emails, filling out paperwork, and finalizing the details for The Collective's grand opening tomorrow. Tomorrow…My heart swelled at the thought of seeing the fruits of my hard work culminating into the physical manifestation of my storefront.I had dreams about this. And of course, along the way, I had my doubts. But despite that, I persevered.I became stronger.I became more determined.I never gave up.And now I got to reap the rewards of all my efforts, and to truly bask in the love and passion I poured into this industry that had already given so much to me.The fashion and design industry would always be my home, and I was glad that I was able to mark my place in its world.Excitement buzzed beneath my skin as a smile blossomed across my lips."A penny for your thoughts?" Alexis smiled as her eyes glanced up from her laptop at me. "Although, I can probably already guess what's got you so giddy!""I just can't believe

Emelia's POVI leaned back in my chair, basking in the feel of the warm morning sun against my skin. Today was a big day; even though it wasn't the grand opening of The Collective's storefront. Today was supposed to be my meeting with Victor. We were to discuss a potential business agreement and future partnership between our brands. Yet, I had no intention of doing that. Well, I did, but *I* wasn't going to be the one to broker the deal. "I honestly think you should call off the meeting." Alexis shook her almost empty cup of caramel frappe in circles. "I thought you didn't want him to find out about you yet." "I don't," I replied with my eyes closed. "Then... I don't understand why you'd agree to a business meeting with him." I sighed in a joking manner. "We're best friends, I thought you knew all my tricks." I opened one eye to peek over at Alexis whose head was tilted in a puzzled manner. I watched as the gears turned behind her eyes, and then— "OH!" Her blue eyes widened i

Lily's POV The rest of the evening was spent in silence. After Victor's unreasonable crashout, we didn't speak for the rest of the night. He even refused coming to bed with me, and opted to sleep on the couch.I hated when he got like this. It was like I was always the villain, and never the one who was wrong when I actually was.He went from defending me, to constantly making me feel like it was always my fault. What had I done to deserve this kind of treatment?Where was the Victor that used to love and care for me?I hated that it felt like my marriage was falling apart. After everything I'd done to win his affections, it still wasn't enough. Couldn't he see that everything I was doing was for him? For us?Why couldn't he just be happy with me?When the next morning came, I woke up and went downstairs to see that Victor was already gone. It was so frustrating having a husband who didn't care about me like I did for him!I went into the kitchen and sat on the stool next to the islan

Victor's POVLast night was the best night I'd had in two years. Even though I wasn't able to get Emelia to reveal her identity, I knew in my heart that the woman I spoke to was her.But today was a new day. Which meant, I had another opportunity to try and get her to reveal herself to me.Once I was done getting ready for work, I made my way to the office with a new purpose.Today, I intended on sending out an email to The Collective's secretary. With their storefront just opening in two days, I wanted to coordinate a business meeting with their CEO.Hopefully this time, I would see Emelia face-to-face; without the mask. There was no way she'd be able to hide herself this time.Once I'd hit send, it was only just a matter of time. Luckily, I had a lot of other work and several meetings to attend to in preparation for my company's seasonal release. It would keep me busy in the meantime. But as the hours pressed on and I checked my email, I didn't see anything. I felt my heart sink.May

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 151 — Business Dealings

Emelia's POVAs I rounded the corner away from Victor's advances, and left him standing there in his own bewilderment, I slipped into the small powder room just before leaving the castle.I took a few deep breaths to still my heart.One.Two.Three.I couldn't believe that he recognized me at first glance from so far away, behind a mask. Even though he didn't seem to buy my alter ego, I couldn't dwell on that now.Looking out the window and towards the crowd of people that showed up in celebration of my business made my heart swell. Despite the small hiccup, tonight was perfect. This was only just the start of something more magnificent to come.I straightened my dress and squared my shoulders before heading back out into the courtyard. For the rest of the night I planned to focus on networking and getting to know as many of the business owners as I could. And it truly turned out to be a wonderful night altogether.Victor ended up not finding me out in the courtyard, which worked, beca
