Emelia's POV

"I-I don't understand the question." Victor stammered. "Do I love you? Sense of duty? Grandpa's expectations?" He pushed out an exasperated, almost panicked breath of air. "What are you asking me? What are you trying to say?"

The last fragile flicker of hope I had left in me was extinguished at that moment.

FUCK!

Why?! Why couldn't he admit his feelings for me? Did they not exist after all this time?

Had I truly not held any part of his heart? Had I not made my home in it after all these years?

The tightness in my chest grew and suddenly it was getting harder for me to breathe. "Get out…" My voice was strained as I struggled to hold onto my composure.

"Em… I—" Victor hesitated. His eyes flickered to me and then away while he tried to search for something to say.

"Get. OUT!" My nostrils flared as my body shook.

The sound of someone barging through my door both startled and enraged me. For a moment, I thought it was Lily. I definitely wasn't in the mood for her antics and I

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 127 — An Act of Forgiveness

Emelia's POVOver the course of the next few days, I refocused myself and my energy back into the company. It was the time of the year that we needed to pick the next season's theme anyway. I didn't have time to worry about my disastrous encounter with Mason. It started off so good, but then…I shook my head. I couldn't think about him or that right now. Instead, I focused on my senior staff who were circled around the oval table, sharing different concept designs, and chatting about material logistics. Our spring lineup had done so well that it afforded us the ability to experiment with more fabrics. It was just in time for our summer season, which offered us a lot more versatility. It made me excited because it meant we could experiment more. This meant we could push our own boundaries and really make our brand stand out whenever it was time to make landfall in the States. The possibilities were endless! Before I could chime in with my thoughts, my secretary, Renee, walked in.

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 126 — A Moment Turned Bitter

Emelia's POVI leaned into the kiss without even thinking as my hands wrapped around his broad shoulders. My subconscious and body were so touch-starved, that my senses went into overdrive when our lips collided. Even the smell of him was intoxicating at that moment.Mason's hands were gentle as they roamed down the sides of my body, but there was a slight edge in the way he grabbed my hips and anchored me to him. Like he didn't want to let go—of not just me, but also this moment. My breath hitched at the feel of his tongue gliding across my lips. Like he was asking for an invitation; a chance to let him in. I hesitated, but only for a moment, before relenting. Warmth coursed through my body, and soon it began to pool at the bottom of my stomach. It also didn't help whenever Mason decided he was going to palm my thigh and then hoist my leg around his waist. He pulled his lips away from mine, dragging them slowly across my jaw, before trailing down to the side of my neck and biting do

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 125 — What We've Built

Emelia's POVThey say that time moves by slowly but passes quickly. Whoever said that was right, but I wouldn't trade it for everything that's happened within these last two years. It's safe to say now that I'm where I want to be in life. Thanks to Ezra's patience and guidance over the years, I was now able to say that I owned my own fashion brand! My jewelry design skills extended into clothing, and it was the best decision that I'd ever made for myself. After Sophia's wedding, I received more calls about job offers and extra projects to take on. I designed a necklace for a college present; a bracelet of someone who passed away; and even a few crowns and masks for a fantasy masquerade event. To say that my career took after that wedding day was an understatement. Now I sat in an office I could call my own, at a round, oval table, with board members all handpicked by me. Today, we were discussing the next order of operations for my brand, the Prestigious Phoenix Collective—also kn

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 124 — Taking Longer To Heal

Emelia's POVMonths had passed and before I knew it, today was the day of Sophia's wedding. While I was feeling apprehensive about attending a wedding of all things, it was outweighed by my excitement to see the fruits of my labor. When I finally arrived at Isola Bella, well… It was like I'd stepped into a place that I thought only existed in fairytales. What caught my eye was the beautiful stone palace. Its elaborate ornamentation and grandeur style was unlike anything I'd ever seen before back home.Chairs were placed within two symmetrical grass sections, while an ornate red carpet stretched along the pavement that led up to the altar, with the palace as its backdrop. This wedding… It was definitely one of a kind, and I could see why Sophia wanted everything to be perfect—and it was.Once the reception party came and moved into the large ballroom of the palace, I found myself being approached by many of the guests and bridesmaids.I thought it was odd, until Sophia ran up to me to g

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 123 — Lingering Thoughts

Emelia's POVI drew deep breaths as I descended the stairs as calmly as I could. Whoever was just beyond the door, I sent them a silent thank you. I needed my mind to not be a complete mess when I still had work to do!Once I opened the door, I was greeted by the sight of Ezra and Sophia."Good afternoon, sweetie." Ezra spoke up first. "I hope we didn't catch you at a bad time?""No, not at all." I mustered an unassuming smile. "I was just working on finalizing the design choices for Sophia," I nodded in her direction."Oh, how exciting!" Sophia squealed. "I wanted to come by and see how it was coming along, if that's alright.""Of course! If anything, it would help to have you here so we could bounce ideas directly to each other and you could see the changes I make in real time."I led the two women up the stairs into the kitchen area just as Mason finished setting the tables with our plates."I didn't realize you were expecting guests, Emelia." Mason said sheepishly. "Now I feel bad

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 122 — Add A Little Spice

Emelia's POVAs the weeks continued to roll, I'd been in a constant state of overdrive. If I wasn't sleeping, I was working on finalizing the designs for the upcoming wedding. Hell, even getting myself to eat was a challenge most of the time. However, my one constant rock throughout this entire ordeal happened to be Mason. If it wasn't for him, I would've worked myself into the ground. He made sure I ate, and even got me to take naps—which I'd NEVER done before. It helped having someone to remind me that breaks were good, despite the looming deadline.I just could barely admit it to myself that the weight of the project was taking its toll on me."If you don't take care of yourself, you're going to get sick." Mason raised a brow as he handed me a cup of tea. "It'll be much harder for you to work then, you know."I took a slow sip of the tea, savoring its warm, herbal taste. "I know, I know. It's just hard to justify a break when I don't have a team of people behind me to pick up the wo

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 121 — Focusing Elsewhere

Emelia's POVA few months had passed since Lady Ruby gave me the task of working on the jewelry set for the upcoming wedding. So far, most of my days were filled with sketching designs and gaining feedback from the bride.Truthfully, she was a hard woman to work with, but I appreciated the challenge and criticism. Because of it, I'd been pushing myself and my boundaries, and trying to become a better designer with each iteration of the design.I'd gotten up as soon as the sun rose and wasted no time working on another round of sketches. Maybe I hadn't noticed it when it came to my own wedding, but was wearing a ton of jewelry the tradition? I barely remembered wearing anything outside of the ring! This bride, however, wanted it ALL. Ivy vine-like bangles that stretched from her fingers down to her wrists; a necklace so grand that it also came down to her shoulders; an embroidered, lace veil…Not to mention, I had to make sure that I avoided using gold because it was considered bad luck

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 120 — Never Giving Up

Victor's POV"What are you talking about?" My mother's tone showed more annoyance than concern. She spoke to me as if I was just a toddler again. "Done with what, exactly? And you better watch your words next time! I'm—""I'm done with you." I emphasized the last word. "I'm tired of the lies, the manipulation, and the disrespect; especially from you of all people. My own mother!""What I've done was for your own good!" She yelled. "You were too infatuated with that horrible ex-wife of yours and too cowardly to do what needed to be done. If anything, you should be thanking—""I already told you to stop bringing Emelia into this." I growled. "You've done your fair share of damage to my marriage when I was with her, and you definitely don't deserve to even speak her name!""You ungrateful brat! You should be ashamed of how you speak to your own mother! Watch your tone next time, if you know what's good for you…" Then, in a lower tone, she hissed, "...and for Emelia, too…""I'm not giving

  • After the Divorce: Mr. Billionaire Begs for My Forgiveness   Chapter 119 — A Limit Reached

Victor's POVMy adverse reaction to Lily's presence, I realized now, wouldn't wane no matter what. There was no mending the relationship we once had, nor pretending that it would ever be fine again. Too many lies and bad blood tainted my outlook on her, although it seemed to her as if it were one-sided and I was being unreasonable. But of course, it was my fault for allowing her to get away with so much. I was simply reaping what I'd sown. "Victor!" Lily yelled for me again. "I know you're in there! Stop ignoring me, or I'm telling mom!" I let out a loud, intentionally audible groan of frustration as I stomped my way towards the door. It didn't matter how apparent I made my displeasure with her—simply put, she didn't care about my feelings. It was a nauseating realization at just how much I really did fuck up. I ran my hand down my face as I took a deep breath to put on a somewhat neutral expression. All the emotional turmoil I was experiencing from reading Emelia's blog wa
