LOGINAlexa’s POV
“Whatever you want,” Dominic said, his voice rough in the quiet hallway. “But only if you tell me to stop.”
I stood there frozen, the front door still clicking shut behind us. The house felt too big and too small at the same time, every shadow stretching long under the single hallway light. My lips still tingled from the kiss in the car. I should have said it. I should have told him to stop right then.
But I didn’t.
Instead I whispered, “I don’t want you to stop.”
The words hung between us like a match struck in the dark. Dominic’s eyes darkened. He didn’t rush. He closed the last step between us slowly, giving me every chance to change my mind. I didn’t take it.
His hand came up to my face again, thumb tracing my lower lip. “You’re sure?”
I nodded, breath shaky. “I’m sure.”
He kissed me again, harder this time, no hesitation. I melted into it, my hands sliding up his chest to grip his shirt. The taste of him, the solid warmth of his body against mine—it wiped away the sting of Ethan’s absence and replaced it with something hotter, sharper. Wrong. So wrong. But I couldn’t pull away.
We stumbled backward together until my back hit the wall. Dominic’s mouth moved to my jaw, then my neck, slow and deliberate. Every touch sent sparks racing under my skin. My fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer.
“Upstairs,” he murmured against my throat.
I managed a small nod. He took my hand and led me up the stairs, the house silent except for our breathing and the soft creak of the steps. My bedroom door was closest, but he guided me past it, straight to his. The master bedroom. Mom’s room too, technically, but she hadn’t slept here in months.
He pushed the door open and flicked on the bedside lamp. Soft light filled the space. I hesitated on the threshold, suddenly aware of what we were about to do.
Dominic turned to me, reading the flicker of doubt. “Still with me?”
“Yes,” I breathed. “Just… this is crazy.”
“Crazy feels right tonight.” He stepped close again, hands settling on my waist. “Let me make your birthday what it should have been.”
His words melted the last of my resistance. I reached up and kissed him, pouring every confused, desperate feeling into it. He responded instantly, backing me toward the bed. My dress rode up as I sat on the edge. Dominic knelt between my knees, hands sliding up my thighs, pushing the fabric higher.
“Tell me if it’s too much,” he said, eyes locked on mine.
“It’s not.” My voice came out breathless.
He kissed the inside of my knee, then higher, slow enough to drive me insane. When his mouth reached the edge of my panties, I gasped, fingers tightening in the sheets. He took his time, teasing, until I was trembling. Only then did he stand, stripping off his shirt in one smooth motion.
I’d seen him shirtless before—pool days, casual mornings—but never like this. Never with intent burning in his eyes. I reached for him, tracing the lines of muscle on his chest. He let me explore for a moment before catching my wrists gently.
“Lie back.”
I did. He followed, covering me with his body, careful not to crush me. The weight of him felt perfect. His hands found the zipper of my dress and eased it down. Cool air hit my skin as he peeled the fabric away, leaving me in nothing but lace.
“God, Alexa,” he muttered, voice reverent. “You’re perfect.”
Heat flooded my face. I pulled him down for another kiss to hide it. From there everything blurred into sensation—his mouth on my breasts, his fingers slipping between my legs, finding me already wet and aching. I arched into his touch, soft sounds escaping me that I’d never made with Ethan.
When he finally pushed inside me, slow and deep, I cried out. Not from pain—from the sheer intensity of it. He stilled, letting me adjust, forehead pressed to mine.
“Breathe,” he whispered. “I’ve got you.”
I wrapped my legs around him, urging him deeper. He started moving, steady at first, then building. Every thrust chased away guilt and replaced it with pure, blinding pleasure. I clung to his shoulders, nails digging in, lost in the rhythm we created together.
“Look at me,” he said when I closed my eyes.
I did. His gaze held mine, dark and possessive, as he drove us both higher. The pressure built fast, coiling tight in my belly. I came first, sharp and sudden, his name breaking from my lips. He followed right after, groaning low as he buried himself deep.
We stayed locked together, breathing hard. Reality trickled back in pieces—the sheets tangled around us, the faint scent of his cologne mixed with sweat, the heavy knowledge of what we’d just done.
Dominic shifted, rolling to the side but keeping me close, one arm draped over my waist. His fingers traced lazy patterns on my hip.
“You okay?” he asked quietly.
I nodded against his chest. “Yeah. More than okay.” A small laugh escaped me. “That was…”
“Intense,” he finished.
“Intense,” I agreed. Guilt tried to creep in, but the warmth of his body kept it at bay for now. “What happens tomorrow?”
He pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Tomorrow we figure it out. Tonight you’re mine.”
I closed my eyes, letting his words settle over me. Part of me knew this changed everything. The other part—the louder part—didn’t care. Not yet.
After a while his breathing evened out, but I stayed awake, staring at the ceiling. My stepfather. My mother’s husband. And I had never felt more alive.
The silence stretched until I couldn’t hold the question back any longer.
“Dominic?” I whispered.
“Hmm?”
I turned my head to look at him, heart pounding again. “Do you regret it?”
He opened his eyes, meeting mine without hesitation. His hand came up to cup my cheek.
“Not for a second,” he said. “Do you?”
Alexa’s POV“What are we going to do when she comes home?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper as I showed Dominic Mom’s text.He read the message, jaw tightening for a split second before his expression smoothed. He set the phone aside and pulled me tighter against him, his hand sliding between my legs where I was still slick from our last round.“We make every second count,” he said, fingers circling my clit slowly. “And when she arrives, we decide together how much truth she needs.”I tried to focus on his words, but his touch made it impossible. I moaned and rocked against his hand. He pushed two fingers inside me, curling them while his thumb kept working my clit. Pleasure built fast, pushing the panic to the edges. I came quickly, gasping his name, body shaking. He didn’t give me time to recover. He rolled me onto my back and slid into me in one thrust, deep and possessive. We moved together urgently, like four days wasn’t enough. I wrapped my legs around him, meeting every
Alexa’s POV“The world can burn,” Dominic had said, “as long as you’re still mine when the ashes settle.”His words echoed in my head the next morning while I stood in the bathroom, staring at my reflection. Faint marks dotted my neck and thighs — his fingerprints, his mouth. I traced one with my fingertip, a shiver running through me even as guilt twisted in my gut. Mom’s flight was now confirmed for four days from now. Time was running out, and every second I spent with him made me sink deeper.I found him in his office, reviewing papers. He looked up, eyes darkening the moment he saw me in nothing but his shirt.“Come here,” he said.I crossed the room. He pulled me onto his lap, hands sliding under the fabric to grip my bare ass. “You’re thinking again.”“I found more documents yesterday,” I admitted, rocking slowly against the hardness growing beneath me. “You didn’t just fix Mom’s problems. You created some of them. The timing lines up too perfectly.”His fingers dug into my ski
Dominic’s POVI watched Alexa’s face after she asked why she didn’t hate me for what I was doing. Her question lingered in the air, heavy with everything she still didn’t fully know.I pulled her closer on the bed, my hand sliding down her bare back. “Because deep down you know I’d never hurt you. The rest of the world gets the version of me that removes problems. You get the version that would die before letting anything touch you.”She shivered but didn’t pull away. Instead she shifted until she straddled my hips, sinking down onto me slowly. I groaned as her heat enveloped me, tight and wet from earlier. She started riding me with deliberate rolls of her hips, eyes locked on mine like she was searching for the monster she suspected lived inside.I let her set the pace at first, hands gripping her thighs, thumbs brushing the marks I’d left there days ago. When her breathing grew ragged, I flipped us, pinning her beneath me and driving deeper. Each thrust pushed a soft cry from her t
Alexa’s POVI stayed with him anyway. Dominic’s words from the night before echoed in my mind as I watched him move around the kitchen the next morning, making breakfast like we were any normal couple. His back was to me, shoulders broad under his shirt, every motion controlled and sure. I should have felt comforted. Instead, a new suspicion gnawed at me.He set a plate in front of me and kissed the top of my head. “Eat. You barely touched dinner last night.”I picked at the eggs, appetite gone. “Ethan hasn’t tried to contact me in days. Not a single message. It’s like he disappeared.”Dominic sat across from me, calm as ever. “That’s what you wanted, isn’t it?”“Yes, but…” I met his eyes. “It happened too fast. Right after I told you about the text.”He reached over and took my hand, thumb stroking my knuckles. “I told you I’d handle it. He got the message. End of story.”The touch should have soothed me. It only heightened the unease. I pulled my hand back gently and stood, needing
Dominic’s POV“As far as it takes,” I answered, my voice steady even as Alexa’s question hung between us like smoke. She searched my face, her body still pressed against mine on the couch where we’d just finished. Her breathing hadn’t slowed yet. I could feel her pulse racing under my palm where it rested on her throat. She didn’t flinch at my words. Instead her eyes darkened with that familiar mix of fear and hunger I was becoming addicted to.I pulled her closer and kissed her, deep and claiming. She melted into it, her hands sliding into my hair. When I broke the kiss, I lifted her and carried her upstairs to the bedroom without another word. I needed to remind her — and myself — why this was worth every risk.I laid her on the bed and stripped her slowly, kissing every inch of skin I uncovered. She watched me with wide eyes, lips parted. When I settled between her thighs and pushed inside her in one smooth thrust, she gasped my name like a prayer.“Dominic…”I moved slow at first,
Alexa’s POVI believed him. Those three words kept echoing in my head as I lay against Dominic’s chest, his arms locked around me like he could shield me from the world he was busy controlling. The next morning I woke to the sound of his voice downstairs, low and commanding on a phone call. I slipped into one of his shirts and padded down, pausing at the kitchen doorway. He stood by the counter, back to me, speaking quietly but with that edge I’d started noticing more.“Make sure he stays away. Permanently if necessary. No loose ends.”My stomach twisted. He ended the call and turned, spotting me instantly. His expression softened the second our eyes met.“Morning,” he said, crossing to pull me into a kiss. His hands slid under the shirt, warm on my bare skin. “Sleep well?”“Who was that?” I asked against his mouth, even as I kissed him back.“Business.” He lifted me onto the counter like I weighed nothing. “Nothing you need to worry about.”But I did worry. Ethan’s texts had stopped
