Chapter 3

Hazel

Instead of seeing the one that I was supposed to love and cherish as my mate before me, I saw nothing but a beast and I felt like tearing him apart with my bare hands.

I wanted to tell him that I was pregnant as I felt my baby in my womb. But no, I wasn't going to do that. I hated him now with so much passion and I wasn't going to be the source of his joy when the only thing he did to me was being the source of my nightmare.

"I hate you and I wished I never had anything to do with you," I growled angrily at him.

"And who cares about that?" He growled back at me without the slightest trace of hurt in his voice. I could feel tears already forming at the corner of my eyes and my heart was broken into pieces but I was able to hold my tears back.

I wasn't going to let him see that I was by any means pained. "Since you hate me and only see me as a toy, there is no use being in this loveless marriage any more. Like I said earlier, can you let me go?" I growled angrily at him but his response only annoyed me even more.

A burst of dark laughter escaped from his mouth and he shot a sneer at me.

"You fool, do you think I give a damn about you and your presence?" He thundered at me with so much disgust in his voice.

I stared at him with hatred, feeling the tears that were trying to drop down from my eyes but I kept holding them back.

"Then I am leaving," I thundered angrily.

"Do as you wish but remember why I got married to you in the first place. Your father owe me a large sum of money which he requested for your mother's treatment and I don't care what he really used it for. Play games with me and I am going to make them my slaves, including that your sickly mother and I am going to make sure that she does all the chores in this pack house," he thundered angrily at me.

His words sent cold shivers down my spine.

I didn't care about my stepfather, he was free to do whatever he wished to do with him but for my mother, I wasn't going to allow him lay a single finger to her cause she was all that I had in this world.

"The ball is in your court," he chuckled, then stormed out of the room. I fell down to the ground quickly and allowed the tears that I had been restraining to pour down from my eyes.

"My life sucks," I gasped.

Hours rolled into days, and days into weeks. I could not run away from him because of my mum, I was scared that he was going to do as he had threatened.

Thankfully, my pregnancy was not yet noticeable.

Then, one morning came, there was commotion in the pack. I could feel the tension rising, the pack servant whispering and the Alpha pacing angrily in his room, fuming with anger.

"What's happening?" I inquired of one of the servants, but she didn't give me a reply. She only looked at me and stormed off.

"What the heck is happening?" I yelled in my head with my heart beating hard against my chest. But deep down, I knew that whatever it was, it was definitely related to me.

Then, I saw the pack physician coming out from the Alpha's room shaking his head.

"Had they discovered that I was pregnant?"

Not long after, I saw Alexander pacing angrily towards me and I knew immediately that there was trouble for me. When the servants saw him, they fled from the place and we were the only ones left in the area.

He held me tightly by my neck as his face twisted with hate, while I gasped for breath.

"What have I done again?" I exclaimed in between my breath but he would not give me a reply.

He took me to a room and threw me down forcefully to the ground.

"I know you hate me but what did you use to drug me that made me miss the Alphas meeting?" He growled angrily at me but I was still confused.

"What are you talking about?" I inquired.

"Don't fake ignorance," he thundered at me. "Yesterday I was supposed to go for a crucial meeting but I slept off. And I knew that something was wrong for sure and the physician just confirmed it, you drugged me," he bawled out.

I didn't know a single bit of what he was talking about. He was just trying to frame me for what I didn't do.

"I didn't do anything to you. I don't come near you or any of your stuff and you know that. You are just trying to frame me up because you hate me that much," I fired back angrily at him.

I was already tired of the fact that he was just using me for his selfish gains. I hated him now and I was going to leave him no matter what he says.

The whole sham of a marriage had only caused me harm and no good.

"You fool, you dare lie to me even after what you had cost me? How dare you?" He raised his hand to slap me, but I stopped him immediately.

"Ohh... You gave grown wings now that you think you can stop me? Well, let me tell you something. I have only met with bad lucks since I met you, so I don't want to have anything to do with you anymore."

"You have always wanted to go away right? Now I will end everything."

I sniffled the tears that wanted to fall, I always wanted to leave but I did hope that somehow, he might come to love me.

Maybe happiness was no where close to what fate had in store for me.

"On this day, I, Alpha Alexander Lancaster, break every ties that I have had with you and I am freeing you from the contract marriage."

I could not control the tears anymore, and they rolled on my cheeks.

It was what I wanted right? Was I not supposed to be happy?

"Okay," I nodded, before he walked out of me.

It still troubled me to know what life had in store for me, but till then, I wanted to just save my unborn child and my sick mother.
