Scarlett:

I sat as Maddie brushed my hair, leaving it to dry on its own.

“Thank you for this, Maddie” I said, looking at her through the mirror. I knew that I wouldn’t have been able to do it for myself if I tried. My right arm was still immobile, and me trying to move it was somewhat impossible right now.

“You are my sister, Scarlett, and I know that you would be doing the same for me” she said, smiling at me. I nodded, putting my left hand on her own, squeezing it gently.

“I believe that you are stealing my mate” Alexei stated, breaking our conversation. Maddie and I laughed, turning to face him, and seeing me looking better; he smiled.

Maddie took a step back, heading toward the door where I knew Ivan would most probably be waiting for her. The exhaustion on Alexei’s face told me that his day was long enough as it was.
