"Damn! That bastard wolf! I missed him!" Bob cursed bitterly bringing his horse to a sharp halt. His teeth gritted coldly. He scanned the woods for any sight of him or even another unfortunate one of their likes. The werewolf he thought he had just caught had disappeared. He knew a little more distance and he could find their hideout or something that might lead him to them. But he would only be asking for his death if he walked in there. He was totally outnumbered and would be peddling.
"Nuisance!" He cursed again.
Disappointed, he turned around and headed home knowing he would fume the rest of the day for missing such a great opportunity to bring his enemy down.
"Uncle Bob!"
It was the sharp squeak of his little niece that greeted him as he entered the house. A wide grin spread in his big face as he rid himself of his boots and proceeded in whilst Eleanor ran to meet him halfway. She jumped into his big arms and he scooped him up as if she weighed nothing.
"Hi there! My beautiful little niece! I trust London treated you well…"
"Uncle Bob! I'm not little anymore! I'm all grown now! See, I weigh a little more pounds now too…"Eleanor whined pouting her lips.
Uncle Bob laughed. Even if Eleanor grew and her head touched the rooftop, he would still see her as his little niece. The little baby girl born years ago amidst the misfortunes that surrounded her birth. It was just like yesterday, he held her tiny self in his palms and rocked her to sleep.
"When did you get in…I didn't think you would arrive today…where is your dad?" He asked mentally pushing the thoughts of his hunting away and gently lowering her down to the ground.
Eleanor shrugged. She wished she had gotten back earlier. Abroad was so cool yet so boring that the whole of her screamed for home.
"I got into an earlier flight." She told uncle Bob as they walked in.
"How was hunting?" A man bellowed from the far end of the room behind the window. He had a magazine in his hand and his reading glasses perched on his nose. His name is Bertrand; Eleanor's father and her only parents.
"Uh…you are there…" Uncle Bob grunted dryly making his way to a seat.
Bertrand tucked the magazine away and brought down his glasses as he focused on his brother. From his sound, he could tell something was amiss.
Eleanor hopped playfully and sat beside her uncle almost glueing herself to him. She had missed home, most especially she had missed Uncle Bob who literally carried her the whole time she was little. Her favorite, one and only Uncle Bob.
"Eleanor my dear, welcome back home, okay…let me discuss with your father…why don't you go chat or play some games with Howard?"
"Howard is no fun…" she frowned, imagining how annoying her brother Howard could be most of the time.
"Uncle Bob, let's play a game once you are done speaking with dad okay?" She batted her long lashes.
Uncle Bob nodded. "Yes, let's do that."
With that Eleanor skipped happily out of the living room towards her room leaving only Uncle Bob and her father.
As soon as she was out, Uncle Bob made sure to cast another look at the door before he turned towards Bertrand.
"I ran into one of them while hunting…" his voice was low yet audible enough.
Bertrand immediately became alert and sat up from the chair's armrest. His eyes flashed with anger. "Did you see their face?"
"It escaped, unfortunately." He sighed sadly.
"We must protect Eleanor from those monsters. She must never learn of the situation surrounding her birth. Never!" Bertrand gritted clenching his fists. The thoughts of choking to death the monsters that hurt his family clouded his head
"When is she going back to London? We can't let her stay here much longer…"
*************
What the two men didn't know was that curious Eleanor listened behind the door to their conversation. It was unusually strange they asked her to leave since they discussed things in her presence in the past.
She had acted like she was leaving but had remained behind and eavesdropped on them.
Hearing her father's words sent chills down her body.
"What is the situation surrounding my birth…" she muttered to herself confused. What monsters is her father talking about?
Slowly she backed away from the door not willing to hear the rest of the conversation and headed into her room in deep thoughts walking through the house passage.
"Hey rocky head!" Howard shuffled her hair sauntering past her hurriedly.
"Don't mess up my hair, you punk!" She retorted to her brother.
"You know what, why don't you go back to London…I mean here was all calm and good while you were away…" Howard smirked.
"Hmmph! I'm not going back anymore. There is no fun." Eleanor snapped and got into her room banging the door shut loudly behind her. She could here her brother's taunting laughter echo behind the door.
She sighed and slumped heavily onto her bed.
Now she was having mixed feelings why she even returned home. She had missed home terribly and wanted so much to be back but after hearing her father's words, she wondered if she shouldn't have come back. What monsters and danger was her father and uncle Bob talking about?
She couldn't make out anything from their conversation but she knew there was something they weren't telling her. She let herself fall back flat on the bed exhaling loud. Worries grated through her sigh and she shut her eyes hoping to shut her mind off her father and Uncle Bob's words. But that didn't help, instead the words rang all over in her head. She groaned and flung herself up. She would leave the house and catch some fresh air. As she dug her feet into her shoes, she decided to go see her friend, Elisa. She was supposed to go the next day but scratch it, anything to take her out of the house, she wouldn't mind. She swung her shawl around her neck and stepped out of the house.
"Just do as they tell you, Elisa, no harm will come upon you. I promise you." "No Father! I don't want to!" Elisa refused, squeezing her face with arms folded tight against her heaving chest. "Look," her father held her shoulders softly and looked into her eyes. "This could end up good for us. You know how many girls of your age wish for this opportunity? The Alpha could be your mate, don't you see?" He was now getting irritated with her daughter's childish acts. Why couldn't she just be a good girl for once. How lucky would he be to share some relation with the Alpha. "No Father! I do not want to be the Alpha's mate. I do not wish to be his Luna! I reject him!" Elisa snapped fiercely. Elisa's father sighed in exasperation and turned away. It was obvious his peace talk wouldn't help the matter. As soon as he stepped away, one of the huge men Jeremy had come with grabbed Elisa. "Let me go! Where are you taking me to!" Elisa screamed as she attempted wriggling free from the huge
EVENING TIMEArthur was reading a book in his library when Jeremy walked in. "Sir, would you like to see them now?""Yes." He replied after a while without glancing away from his book "Then I will have them prepared and send them in at once…""There is no need for that. Take me to them instead…" He stood from his seat and dropped the book back into the bookshelf. "But sir…they are not washed up yet…" Jeremy protested, surprised with Arthur's sudden desire to meet the girls by himself."It's fine. I will just take a look. They wouldn't match after all." He said, a hint of disappointment waxing his tone. He had given up on finding his mate. It is only to satisfy his conscience that he kept on looking knowing it would all turn out futile once more. "Ah, yes sir." Jeremy led the way to the room where the new girls brought in were kept. "Uh…sir…you can't go in. They are not cleaned up yet…" the lady housekeeper tried to stop him from getting in. "It's fine. Move." She mumbled words
ARTHUR'S POV"You have a lot to explain." I said with a serious face as soon as Jeremy joined me outside. "I'm sorry sir…""Jeremy…" I called with a deep voice, cutting him short. "Yes…yes sir…""What do I hate most?""Apologies, especially at the wrong time, disloyalty, loose mouth, weakness."I look at his face briefly. I should punish him for not doing his job properly but then I made a mental note to let it slide since there is something more bugging at that moment. "Then speak." I commanded. "She is a friend to one of the girls but…but she is…" he stuttered with his head bent. I looked at him closely. I could tell that whatever he had to say must be something that could rile me up. Jeremy knew me better than anyone. He rarely fidgets like most people in my presence but seeing him behave this way tells me something was up. "She is human…"The word human echoed in my head. Whatever he had muffled next couldn't make it into my ears. Whilst my body numbed for a moment, the word
WRITER’S POVDashing into the hideout, Arthur growled loudly which showed he wanted to be all alone. His men who were training there all vamoosed. The thought of having a human mate made his blood boiled. Events of the last time he went hunting when a human hunter nearly killed him made it even worse for him to accept his fate which he only saw as terrible. He put a call across to his beta, Dennis and before the next thirty minutes Dennis had arrived. He called Jeremy too. They are the only ones he could confide in that moment. He needed someone to tell him he was having a nightmare…anything just to end this terrible fate of his.“Bring her back to me.” He said to Jeremy who stared at him utterly confused.“Her? Who are you talking about?” Dennis interjected, confused as well.“Fuvk! I must be going crazy…” Arthur muttered incoherently with a troubled sigh. He shuffled his hair making a mess of it.Then he stood abruptly and faced Dennis squarely. “If by any chance you find out you a
“Hey Elisa!”“urh…hi Eleanor…” Elisa stuttered surprised to see Eleanor. The moment she saw her, she remembered their ordeal in her pack. “What a surprise…I thought you would be lying like a log of wood right in bed by now…”Eleanor collapsed onto the bed with a deep sigh. “Well, I guess so but…then I find it really strange. Elisa, I can’t seem to get a vivid picture of what happened to us after…after we got kidnapped. Did you meet those huge men and that really cold one amongst them? How…how did you get home…I mean how did we get home…”“Relax Eleanor, relax…take a deep breath okay…it’s all good now. I mean we are back and home and safe and that is all that matters.”Eleanor shrugged. “I can’t just seem to get it out of my head. I feel like something else had happened…” she chewed nervously on her fingers biting off the slightly overgrown one of her thumb finger.Elisa paused. A lot of things on her mind that has got her confused. How did Eleanor hear her mind linking her father? She
Eleanor woke up feeling feverish and weak, as if she had lifted heavy weights the previous day. She moaned and then bit her lips hard as she rolled on the bed while shutting out the sharp pain she felt all over her body.Slowly, she squinted her eyes open, the left one first and then the right one. She could see a figure but it was blurry. She just shook it away concluding that she was only dreaming. The beautifully painted ceiling of the room, although hazy in her sleepy state couldn’t dim its beauty and brightness and struck her sleepy eyes. Eleanor felt like she was in a dreamland. A wonderful one at that. One she wasn’t sure she wanted to wake up from.“Oh heavens, my head is banging…” she groaned and stretched, stifling in the yawn that tried to escape her lips.“Why am I seeing this face…am I still dreaming…oh my head…” she stretched a bit more. But then the figure kept starring right back at her, without moving an inch.“Huh…” her eyes flew open. She rubbed her eyes with her ha
“Let my friend go!” Elisa gritted at Arthur. She had followed Jeremy after they kidnapped Eleanor to the pack. “It gives me no pleasure keeping your friend with me. I just need to be sure of a few things.” Arthur said as he flipped through the pages of a book he was reading. “Have you no idea? She is human! What could you possibly do with a human? Didn’t you always hate her likes? Why then do you have her in your house?” Elisa retorted. “That is why I must hope to be wrong!” Arthur flared up. His eyes spat dangerous sparks. He flung the book away with so much annoyance and got to his feet. “Do you think I am pleased to have such blood in my house? huh… I really do hope the moon goddess get back to their senses as soon as possible.” “She is your mate?” Elisa asked, shocked. Arthur didn’t say a word. That automatically answered her question. She blinked, cold chill washed down her skin. “No…that can’t be…she is really human…” her voice trailed off in disbelief. “Tell me all you kn
