chapter twenty-one

Eleanor stirred and slowly her eyes began to squint open. Everything seem blurry as she tries to force herself to wake.

“I should be dead…where am I? heaven or what…” the question rang in her.

She remembers while she schooled abroad how some religious teachers made mention of a dead person waking up either in paradise or somewhere they call hell. That moment, Eleanor couldn’t tell which one she has managed to find herself in. She did a few bad things and maybe didn’t deserve the paradise but why wasn’t she feeling pain and being burned in some fiery fire? She felt warm, peace, quietness and even the breeze blowing her skin.

Her eyes heavy at first, but gradually she forced it open. It was met with a tall figure that had his back turned against her. He seemed to be busy staring ahead into what she couldn’t see.

Eleanor blinked. She tried to sit up and scan where she was but felt a sharp pain around her neck and body. She bit her lips to muffle back the groans that made to leave her lip
