Justina's Point of View

I listened to Chace's story without interrupting him. I was shocked at what he had told me, especially about his father. I never knew Alpha Mark was so evil. He seemed to care about the Pack and was always nice to me. I never would have guessed he was abusing Chace's mom and him.

"Why would Alpha Mark mistreat you and your mom? He was always nice to everyone and took care of the Pack," I asked.

"He cared for his Pack, but he hated being mated with my mom," Chace said

"But they were Mates," I replied

"They were not Fated Mates, Justina. They were chosen mates," Chace replied, shocking me. Then I thought about it. Normally when someone loses their Mate, they are very sad and don't want to be around anyone. The pain they feel from losing their Mate can kill them, or they can become crazy from losing their Mate, but Luna Greta seems fine. In fact, she seems to be happier than when Alpha Max was alive.

"That is why she isn't hurting. They aren't fated, Mates,"
