Chapter Forty-Seven

Coffee Drops

/-Isla-/

The next day, I powdered every bruise on my face and headed to work. I checked on my mother and thankfully she was already doing better.

I asked Elsie to take care of her while I checked in at the office. I haven't been around for two days now and I was certain that Miss Liana would make it miserable for me.

I couldn't bring myself to check in with Carlos before I left. He still hated me, I could tell so I'll just leave that for when I'm back.

As I stepped out of the palace, I saw Roman ahout to leave as well. I quickly turned away, hoping that he wouldn't see me but unfortunately he did.

“Isla,” he called after me and I stopped in my tracks. I turned slowly to look at him. He was in a black shirt and grey trousers today. As usual, he looked like something off the front page of a magazine with that silver streaked hair falling down his shoulders.

While I, on the other hand, was in a simple white shirt with a grey pinafore gown and flats. I

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   Break out

Chapter 105 The Breakout /-Isla-/ I’d never moved so fast in my life. My heart was pounding so loud it felt like the whole hallway could hear it. I kept my head down, eyes fixed on Elsie’s back as we rushed through the dim corridor. The torch from her phone was barely enough to light the entire way, but it was all we had. Every door we passed felt like it might fly open any second. Every sound made my breath catch. “Where’s the tunnel?” I whispered as we turned a corner. “Near the east wing,” Elsie said, not slowing down. “The one they use to dump trash. No guards usually stay there at night.” “Usually?” I hissed. “Don’t start with me now,” she gritted. My hoodie was too big and smelled like basement mold, but I didn’t complain. Anything was better than the tattered gown I’d been wearing. The fabric scratched against my healing skin, but I ignored it. Freedom was worth the sting. A loud clatter echoed behind us. We both froze. “What was that?” I whispered. Elsie dragged m

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   Escape

Chapter 104Escape/-Isla-/It's been over a week and I was surprised at the treatment I was getting. My meals were served on time, also not poisoned which was very disturbing. I was given meat and fish and even juice sometimes. I honestly didn't know how to feel about it. Not to mention, the healer came everyday to apply that painful substance on my face. But they were very effective too. The wounds were healing rapidly and I almost couldn't feel the scars anymore. It was strange to me. I was supposed to be a slave. Slaves don't get this kind of treatment and it worried me. Was there something in the big brewing? Was Roman planning something so evil that he decided to give me a good life before it?All these thoughts were racing through my mind and it made me even more anxious. Then I heard faint footsteps. I could tell it was close but for some reason the person seemed to be trying to conceal it. I immediately got off the floor, my heart hammering against my chest as I feared

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   Courage

Chapter 103Courage/-Aaron-/“What is that supposed to mean, Aaron?” she huffed. “I want to see that slave right now!” I have never defied her before and she didn't expect me to do that now. “I'm sorry but you can't access Isla. It was the Alpha's instruction,” I told her. I was doing this for her own good and I hoped she would just let it go instead of being so stubborn. “Roman?” She blurted in disbelief. “Seriously?” “He will be away on a business meeting and until he gets back, the investigations will proceed as planned. He instructed that she doesn't leave her cell for any reason and no one should lay a finger on her as well,” I explained and the defiance in her eyes slowly melted away. Worry slowly replaced the anger and I caught that glimpse of insecurity stirring. “Why?” Her voice dropped in a low whisper. “Is he… is he still interested in her after everything that has happened?”“Manda…”“Everybody knows that I lost my baby because she tried to poison me, what other evi

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   A Confusing Visit

Chapter 102A Confusing Visit/-Isla-/I was prepared to accept my fate whatever it may be. It was clear that no one would believe me anyways. However the first person to actually approach me was someone I least expected. The pack healer. What was she doing here? Shouldn't she be attending to the Luna? Or was she done already? Could it be that Manda was no longer in danger? She stopped in front of my cell and the guards opened the door for her to come in. I remained in my spot, watching her cautiously. I didn't know what she was up to and I couldn't risk finding out. “Isla,” she called. “Come into the light.” I was in the darkest corner of the room, thinking of all the possible actions she might take against me. This position was best for me to prepare myself without being seen. “Come on out,” she urged. “I'm not here to hurt you.”I almost scoffed at the words. That was what a certain person said to me before ruining my life and reducing me to this. Not a single day went by wi

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   Lingering Feelings

Chapter 101Lingering Feelings /-Roman-/I shouldn't care. It shouldn't matter to me if she was suffering or not. The bond was gone. There was nothing tying me to her. This was simply me getting the full dose of my revenge. So what was this void inside of me? Why did I still have the urge to protect her even though she was the daughter of my worst enemy?“Alpha, you sent for me,” Aaron bowed and I sucked in a breath. “I'll be away on a business trip for a couple of days. I want you to look after the slave. Make sure no one lays a finger on her, especially Manda,” I instructed and that stupid look crossed his face again. “Don't get the wrong idea. I want to properly investigate when I'm back and punish her duly.” “I didn't even say anything, Alpha,” he chuckled and I frowned. Is he mocking me? “Then why are you laughing?” I frowned and he shook his head. “Oh, nothing. I just remember something funny,” he responded.I let out a sigh. “Aaron, listen carefully because I mean every

  • Alpha Daddy Is My Step Uncle   Behind It All

Chapter 100Behind It All/-Manda-/“And that was how he threw the stupid thing back into her cell…” Liana ended her narration and I laughed. “You are a genius, sis, I can't even lie. How the hell were you even able to pull that off? For a second, I was afraid that something was genuinely wrong with you,” Liana said.I smirked. “What can I say? Roman was so insistent that he didn't want a baby with me. I was very sure he was going to find some way to force me to get rid of it and if he eventually found out I was never pregnant, that would be the last straw.”“Wait, so you faked a miscarriage for a baby that doesn't even exist?” She asked incredulously. “And you didn't even think to tell me?!”“Don't be like that, sis,” I chuckled. “If I told you, what would be the fun in that? Besides, it was a very desperate and dangerous move. As much as he tries to deny it, I know his affection for her still lingers somewhere. The only way to rid it for good is to eliminate her and what better way
