Rachel's POV

The dress was heavy. Not just in weight, but in meaning.

I stood in front of the full-length mirror in the fitting room, my fingers trailing over the intricate embroidery on the bodice.

It was nothing like the simple, understated dress Alpha Damon had probably expected me to choose. This dress had presence. It had a voice.

And so did I.

"That's the one," Francine said confidently from behind me.

I turned to look at her reflection in the mirror. "You think so?"

"I know so." She grinned. "I saw the look on your face when you put it on. That's how you know."

I pressed my lips together. She wasn't wrong. The moment I had slipped into the dress, I had felt something settle inside me.

A decision. A quiet kind of defiance.

Was it petty? Maybe.

But in a life where I had little control, this - this was mine.

The store manager clapped her hands together, her professional smile returning in full force now that a decision had been made.

"Wonderful choice, M

Rachel's POV I wasn't asleep. I wanted to be, but my mind wouldn't let me. I had turned away when Damon entered, keeping my breathing steady, pretending I was already lost in sleep. But I felt his presence the moment he walked in. Heavy. Commanding. Unshakable. It should have been easy to ignore him. I had done it all day - playing the role of the perfect Luna, standing beside him as if we were truly united. But now, in the quiet of his quarters, with no one watching, the reality of this marriage settled over me like a suffocating weight. And then he hesitated. I could feel his gaze on me. Something about it made my skin prickle, my heart beat just a little too fast. I should have stayed still. I should have let him believe I was asleep. But I turned. It was a simple movement - nothing more than shifting onto my back, my eyes flickering open - but the moment our gazes locked, something passed between us. Something I couldn't name. Damon didn't move. He stood

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 28

Damon's POV I barely looked at Rachel as I left the room. Not because I didn't notice her. Not because I didn't hear the edge in her voice or see the way her chin lifted in quiet defiance. But because if I did - if I gave in to whatever pull was forming between us - I might make a mistake. And I couldn't afford mistakes. I walked down the dimly lit corridors of the packhouse, my footsteps barely making a sound. The weight of the day pressed against me, heavier than it should have been. A marriage that I never wanted. A pack watching my every move. And the lingering threat of Vaughn lurking in the shadows, waiting for an opening. Caleb was already waiting in my office when I arrived. He stood near the window, arms crossed, his expression tense. I shut the door behind me. "Tell me." He turned, his eyes sharp. "The rogue hasn't said anything new. No threats, no taunts. Just silence." I exhaled slowly, rolling my shoulders. "That doesn't sit right." "Exactly," Caleb

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 27

Rachel's POV I woke up to an unfamiliar silence. The room was dim, the morning light barely filtering through the heavy curtains. For a few seconds, I forgot where I was. Then it hit me. The wedding. The vows. The way Damon barely looked at me afterward. I turned my head toward the empty space beside me. His side of the bed was untouched, as if he hadn't slept there at all. Of course he hadn't. A hollow feeling settled in my chest as I pushed myself up, the silky sheets pooling around my waist. My wedding dress was gone, replaced by a simple nightgown Francine had set aside for me. My first morning as Luna, and I was already waking up alone. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, my feet touching the cool wooden floor. Everything about this place felt foreign - the oversized room, the scent of leather and pine that clung to the air, the weight of expectation hanging over my head. I wasn't a guest anymore. This was my home now. Whether I wanted it or not. After

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 26

Damon's POV Sleep never came. I sat at my desk, fingers steepled as I stared at the security report Caleb had delivered. The words blurred together, but the message was clear - our men had spotted faint tracks along the northern border. No confirmed sighting, but enough to suggest movement. Enough to suggest Vaughn's men had been there. My jaw clenched. That rogue's words from the day of the wedding echoed in my mind. Vaughn knows about your little arrangement, Alpha. Of course he did. A sharp knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. "Come in," I called. Caleb stepped inside, his expression as grim as ever. "He's not talking." I didn't need to ask who. The rogue we captured had been locked up for over a day now, yet he refused to say anything more than that cryptic warning. I pushed back from my desk and stood. "Then we'll make him talk." The scent of damp stone and sweat filled the underground cells beneath the packhouse. The rogue sat on a cot inside his c

Rachel's POV The laughter and chatter around me felt distant, as if I were watching the celebration through a thick layer of glass. The toasts had begun, voices rising in cheer as people lifted their glasses in honor of a union that didn't feel real to me. I barely registered what was being said. Words about alliances, about strength and prosperity for the Moon Stone Pack. Beta Caleb spoke first, his usual sharp demeanor softened just enough for this public display. My father followed, his words clipped and measured - proud of the deal he had struck, rather than the daughter he had just married off. Cole's toast was the only one that made my throat tighten. His words were short, but laced with a quiet, unwavering support only a brother could give. "To my sister, who always finds a way to survive. May she do more than that here - may she find a way to live." A strange hush settled after his words, but only for a beat before the next person stood to speak. I exhaled,

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 24

Damon's POV The ceremony was over. Rachel stood at my side, her face unreadable as the final guests filed out of the hall. The moment we had exchanged vows played in my mind on a loop, but I shoved the thoughts aside. It was done. The alliance was sealed. I should have felt a sense of accomplishment. Relief, even. Instead, there was something gnawing at me - something I couldn't quite name. Then, I felt it before I saw her. Maya. She was a storm brewing just beyond my line of sight. I turned my head slightly, just in time to see her approaching with sharp, determined steps. "You actually did it," she hissed under her breath. "You married her." I clenched my jaw. "Now's not the time, Maya." Her blue eyes burned with fury. "When exactly is the time, Damon? When will you stop pretending that this -" she gestured vaguely toward Rachel, who was distracted by a conversation with Francine, "- means nothing to you?" "It does mean nothing," I said coldly. "It was necessary.
