Damon's POV

The scent of blood had faded, but its memory still clung to the air like a ghost. The pack was healing, but the unease hadn't left me. Something still didn't sit right.

I stood outside the pack house, watching warriors move across the training grounds. Some were still bandaged, bearing the wounds of Vaughn's attack. Others carried the weight of the dead in their eyes.

Caleb approached, his expression grim. "I've been going through the security records again." He held up a stack of reports. "There's no doubt about it. Someone inside the pack manipulated our defenses."

I clenched my jaw. "Tell me everything."

He handed me a report. "This is the patrol schedule that was distributed to the warriors before the attack. And this -" He pulled out another. "- is the real schedule. Look at the differences."

I scanned the pages. The gaps in security. The redirected shifts. "These weren't mistakes."

"No," Caleb confirmed. "And they weren't last minute changes either. So

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 61

Damon's POV The moment we stepped out of the council chamber, I slammed the door shut behind us, my hands clenched into fists. "They're out of their damn minds," I growled. "A challenge? After everything you've done for this pack?" Rachel stood beside me, calm and composed in a way that only pissed me off more. She shouldn't have to be calm about this. She shouldn't have to prove anything. "This was bound to happen," she said, her voice steady. "They were always going to find an excuse to doubt me." I turned to her, my anger still burning. "Then I'll put an end to it. If they challenge you, they challenge me. And I have no problem reminding them who their Alpha is." Rachel sighed. "Damon, that won't help." "The hell it won't." My wolf was already clawing beneath my skin, furious that the pack was turning against her. "You are my Luna. They don't get to question that." She placed a hand on my arm, grounding me. "I need to do this myself." I shook my head. "No, you don

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 60

Damon's POV The weight of everything still lingered. Even though the battle was over, the scars it left behind weren't so easily forgotten. I stood on the balcony outside my office, overlooking the pack house courtyard. The warriors who had survived were regrouping, the injured recovering, and the dead... honored, but gone. The air smelled of rain, fresh and cleansing, but it couldn't wash away the lingering tension in my chest. Maya's betrayal. Rachel's near death. The way my pack had turned against her when she needed them the most. I clenched my jaw, gripping the railing so tightly my knuckles turned white. I had sworn to protect my pack, but I had failed to protect my own mate from the people who were supposed to stand by her side. A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. Caleb stepped in, his expression unreadable. "We need to talk." I turned to face him, crossing my arms. "What is it?" He exhaled sharply. "The council elders want a meeting. They're c

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 59

Damon's POV Maya stood frozen, her mask of defiance slipping as the weight of the pack's judgement pressed down on her. The hall was deathly silent, every wolf waiting for my verdict. I could see the battle playing out in her eyes - she wanted to fight back, to manipulate her way out of this. But there was no escape this time. I took a step forward, keeping my voice calm but resolute. "You betrayed this pack, Maya. You helped Vaughn weaken our defenses, and because of that, good wolves died." My gaze swept across the room, landing on those who had suffered losses. "You turned your back on your own." She swallowed hard. "Damon, please -" "Enough." My tone cut through her plea. "You don't get to beg for mercy when you never gave it to anyone else." Maya's breathing grew uneven, her hands curling into fists. She looked around as if searching for someone - anyone - who might stand up for her. But no one did. Caleb stepped forward. "She should be exiled." Murmurs of agreeme

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 58

Damon's POV I found Maya in the gardens, where the moonlight barely touched the earth. She stood near the fountain, the soft trickle of water the only sound between us. She turned as I approached, her face an unreadable mask. "Damon." Her voice was steady, too steady. As if she already knew why I was here. I didn't stop until I was only a few feet away, close enough to see the tension in her shoulders, the slight shift in her stance. She wasn't afraid - not yet. "Why?" My voice came out colder than I intended. Maya didn't pretend to be confused. She tilted her head, her lips curving into something that wasn't quite a smile. "You'll have to be more specific." I let the silence stretch, let it press against her like the weight of my rage. "You betrayed this pack," I said finally. "You sabotaged our defenses, you helped Vaughn, and you nearly got Rachel killed." Her jaw tightened, but she didn't deny it. I took a step closer. "I trusted you." The words burned on my tong

  • Alpha Damon's Unwanted Luna   Chapter 57

Rachel's POV The wind was cold against my skin as I stepped onto the balcony outside my room. I pulled my shawl tighter around my shoulders, wincing at the lingering pain in my ribs. My body was healing, but my spirit felt... fractured. I had nearly died. That truth hadn't fully sunk in until now. In the chaos of the battle, there hadn't been time to process it. But in the quiet of the aftermath, it weighed on me like a stone on my chest. A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. "Come in," I called. The door opened, and Cole stepped inside. "Well, you look like hell," he said, his voice rough but tinged with amusement. I let out a small, breathless laugh. "So do you." He smirked and walked closer. "Yeah, well, knowing that your only sibling tried to play hero by risking their life during a war isn't exactly a spa retreat." A silence settled between us, thick with unspoken words. "I thought I'd lost you," he finally said, his voice quieter this time.
