An ordinary brunch? Darren believed it was more like a business meeting between two of Pack Kyne's most respected families, his family and Genevieve's. Who didn't know the Genevieve family? The family belonged to the military leader of Pack Kyne who was none other than Frank Genevieve. And at this meetup, Frank only brought his two daughters, Diana Genevieve and Annabelle Genevieve. The only interesting thing here for Darren was seeing a girl who was secretly stealing some cookies from the banquet table. The girl, who was none other than Diana, glanced around before taking one by one the cookies in front of her, which she then wrapped in a tissue in her lap. No one noticed except Darren. Seeing Diana's behavior made Darren a bit bothered, he wondered why Diana didn't just eat the cake instead of hiding it. But as Darren's eyes wandered around the table, he finally understood why Diana was hiding the cake. It was because of a woman with red lipstick, Diana's mother, who glared at Diana when she caught her taking the cake. Not only that, she even hit Diana's hand so that the little girl could only look down. Watching that made Darren want to do something. He was about to stand up but his mother grabbed his hand. “Your father is going to talk about something important, stay here.” Darren sighed, he really wanted to take the girl away from this boring family gathering. But he couldn't help but listen to his father speak first. “We look like family, right Mr. Frank?” He was Adam Jarl, Alpha Pack Kyne, Darren's father. Of course before answering that question, Frank chuckled to break the ice. After all he thought it was a good signal to bring two families together. “Yeah, we're like two families already, Alpha Adam. I feel like we're very compatible in every way.” Meanwhile Darren instantly turned his face away, disgusted by the statement. “What if we set our children up as partners?” Alpha Adam asked. For the parents this was good news, but for the children it was the opposite. Because they knew this arranged marriage would only bring them into the suffocating cage of status. “It doesn't matter if it's your first child or your second child because it's for the good of both families,” said Alpha Adam. For him it didn't matter if Darren married the mute Diana or the deaf Annabelle because his main goal was to be able to get the full support of the military chief Pack Kyne, which would be very beneficial for him. But in contrast to Miranda, she wanted to propose Annabelle because she was Frank's biological daughter. Because the truth is, Miranda is just a step-wife who married Frank after she had Diana. Miranda didn't want Frank to feel like his biological child was sidelined. “Our first child is very beautiful and smart,” Miranda said. She gently stroked Annabelle's hair. It was this difference in treatment that finally made Darren understand why Diana was scolded just for taking a cookie, it was because Diana was not a beloved child. Darren also knows how it feels so he wants to leave this conversation as soon as possible. Suddenly Annabelle stood up and left the table, leaving everyone wondering inside. Then she sat down by the lake. “Go with her,” Alpha Adam ordered. This was Darren's chance to leave, but he didn't want to go alone, so he took Diana along by tugging gently on her hand. Without Darren realizing it, his treatment of Diana made Diana's mother very angry because Diana should not be close to Darren, but Annabelle. Darren made sure the grass Diana was going to sit on was not wet, then he put his shoes on. “Sit on my shoes so you don't get your clothes dirty.” Diana did as Darren said. She sat down and immediately ate the cake she had taken earlier. This time she didn't have to worry about being scolded because she had gotten away from her parents and she could eat as much as she wanted. Getting too excited, Diana choked. “Slow down. No one will want your cake, just finish it slowly,” Darren said as he gently patted Diana's back. He was happy to see Diana smile and then go back to eating with gusto. Darren unconsciously smiled too. This was the first time Darren was able to smile without coercion, which was when he saw Diana being happy. Darren didn't put Diana down like their parents did, instead he wanted to talk to her more despite her limitations. “Do you want to teach me sign language?” Darren asked. Diana stopped eating and looked at Darren with a cake cream blemish on her cheek. This made Darren chuckle and wipe the cream stain on Diana's cheek. “You're so cute.” Diana's cheeks turned red from blushing. Then she put down her plate and answered Darren's question by writing in a small book that she always carried everywhere. After she finished writing the answer, Diana tore the paper and gave it to Darren. Darren smiled as he read the answer Diana gave him. “Thank you for agreeing to teach me. So where do we start? I think I need to know your name first.” Diana answered, *“I'm Diana.” But Darren furrowed his brow, “what does that mean?” Diana took Darren's hand and wrote on his palm, drawing the letters of her name. “D.... i.... a.... n.... a, Diana?” Diana nodded enthusiastically, she was very happy that Darren could interpret what she wrote down. “What a beautiful name. I'm Darren.” Darren extended his hand to shake hands with Diana. But instead of getting a handshake in return, he got a cookie in his hand. “You gave it to me?” Again Diana nodded, she wrote on the paper: It's a gift because you wanted to learn sign language. Thank you for talking to me. All of Diana and Darren's interactions were witnessed by Annabelle who was sitting not far from them. She was very angry and jealous of Diana because their parents did not choose Diana for a arranged marriage. The annoyance that Annabelle was holding reached such a peak that she walked quickly to Diana and pulled Diana to her feet. “Why didn't you volunteer to be married to him?” Annabelle's chin pointed at Darren. “It should have been you. We both have flaws but it's not fair to me. I'm my father's biological daughter, you're a stepdaughter, so you're the one who has to sacrifice for our family.”The three people who helped Diana search for Alpha Darren all this time all gaped when they saw the man returning to his home. Especially when he came in with a smile and holding hands with Diana. "Diana, I told you to take a vacation but you came with him? How the hell did you find him?" George immediately got excited and even pulled Diana because he still didn't think Alpha Darren was okay. Because honestly George had given up hope that the man could return safely. "Luna..." Canis covered her mouth with her hand. "I wasn't dreaming was I? You managed to find Alpha Darren!"Diana smiled and nodded. Then the most fun was when Cedric suddenly hugged Alpha Darren right away. He even hugged him tightly and patted his boss on the back. "I'm so happy you're okay, boss."Seeing this, Diana and Alpha Darren laughed. Alpha Darren pushed Cedric away. "Now you've seen me again. And yeah, I wasn't hurt, I wasn't kidnapped, I disappeared because I wanted to."If Cedric and Canis could refrain
"Now you're satisfied after driving me crazy for a month, huh!" Diana shouted at the top of her lungs in his face. She was venting all the emotions that had been running wild all month. But she was also very grateful that she could still see him again. He hadn't left her forever, which made her anger slowly erode. "Diana, could you stretch your arms around my neck a little? I'm starting to feel suffocated now," Darren said. He wasn't lying, his face was flushed, his breathing labored. "I'm going to choke you until you can't breathe!" Finally, because Diana wouldn't let go of her hands around his neck, he was forced to kiss her on the lips. And it did make her release her grip. The brief kiss was interrupted when Alpha Darren withdrew and helped Diana to sit up. Now they sat facing each other on the bed with their knees touching, separated only by their clothes. "Now, are you done venting your anger at me? Can I talk now?"Diana was silent, even so she was still pouty and her a
DIANAI realized that the perfume I smelled was probably because I was expecting Darren to show up. Because in fact I was alone on the beach earlier. Just me and the sound of the waves, nothing else. So I could conclude that I was hallucinating again. Therefore, I went back to the inn. I didn't want to indulge my hallucinations by doing something I would regret later. When I arrived at the inn, I no longer smelled Darren's perfume, but the loneliness I felt was growing. This place was secluded because it was only used as a tourist destination, so it was very quiet except inside each room. I should be enjoying this situation, the clear night sky with many stars, but I can't. I don't know why I'm like this. I've lost my sense, feeling more and more empty. Is it because of Darren? I'm not sure either. Ugh, I can't think about him too much. No matter how much guilt there is, I still have to take my mind off of him. Because he would surely be very happy if he saw me frantic like t
George tripped over his own feet while running to the hospital to see Diana. He had gotten word from Canis that after the meeting, Diana had fainted. Without thinking twice, George left what he was doing to go see his sister's condition. As a result, here he was, opening the door to Diana's infirmary room with a pale face. "Diana!"Meanwhile, Diana was already conscious. While wearing an IV in her hand, it turned out that she still took the time to review the document with Canis who was waiting for her. George immediately grabbed the document and handed it to Canis. "What are you doing? You're punishing yourself by pushing your body to work beyond its limits? You know, by doing so, the guilt you feel won't go away, Diana.""Give it back," Diana said flatly. Although Diana wasn't a person who liked to show various kinds of expressions and emotions before, now it was even worse, she seemed to have no interest in anything anymore, just going about her days for all the obligations tha
DIANAIt's been 10 days since Darren disappeared. And I still had no idea what had happened to him. I couldn't sleep or eat anything, all I could think about was where he was and how he was doing. Guilt consumed me every day and it got worse by the day. Darren, please wherever you are, if you really love me, please come back. I'm so tired of managing everything, I need him. I only realized this when he wasn't around. Darren was right that he wasn't vocal in his support of me. When he wasn't present in my days, I just felt something was missing. I don't know what this feeling is, but I want to see him. Could it be that I miss him? But 10 days ago it felt like I really wanted him to stay away from me. So what's wrong with me?In addition to the headacheinducing business in the pack, I also had to keep giving excuses to everyone who asked about Darren's whereabouts. I had to lie to them that Darren was having other business outside the pack that I wasn't sure when it would be fini
Her breath caught in her throat as she arrived in front of Fred's apartment building. She'd called the man but he hadn't picked up. It made her suspect that Alpha Darren's absence from the house until this morning had something to do with Fred. Diana ran to the front desk, startling the staff on duty."Is there anything I can help you with, Luna?""I need to know Fred Jack Houston's unit number, it's important, so please let me know. He's working on a confidential case, please."Seeing how Diana pleaded, the receptionist became reluctant. "Luna, you don't have to beg, I'll tell you." She checked the computer. "Mr. Houston lives on the 15th floor, unit number 151.""Thank you." Diana immediately ran to the elevator and headed to the location she had been told. She also didn't stop to call Alpha Darren, hoping by some miracle the call would pick up. "Don't drive me crazy, Darren. Come on, answer the call. You're not usually like this. You're always back home no matter how late it is.
