I scratched Nasir’s head. “Sorry. You won’t be able to come with me. I’ll be back soon. I promise.”
He whined and nuzzled my hand.
“I know. I know. I’ll be back. Promise.” I kissed his head and reached out Tatiana.

Nasir was slowing down. We had been running for five days straight. My legs burned as did my shoulders but I refused to stop. I felt Desmond pull hard at the mate bond but I refused to acknowledge it. Refused to let it pull me back. I just kept running.
