Chapter 9

Lea:

I woke up on a white bed, my eyes widening in surprise as I gasped as I tried processing where I was.

My heart raced against my ribcage, and I frowned at the pain that I felt as my sore muscles reminded me of where I was.

“Easy,” a doctor said, her voice softening. I looked down at my body, frowning when I saw that I was barely wearing shorts and what looked like a sports bra. I knew for fact that I didn’t come here with them. “We had to change the dress as it was smudged with blood, and considering the wounds, we preferred not to cover them for them to gradually heal. But that meant not putting a dress on,”

“Where am I?” I asked, frowning in confusion. I sat up, fighting back the pain that I felt, before she handed me a small jewelry box. I frowned in confusion and opened it to find the bracelet, my father’s, and my mother’s necklace inside.
