“Let. Me. Go!” She said, trying to run away from the man who now had her cornered. A familiar scent filled her nostrils, but she could barely find it in her to speak let alone call for HIS help. “You are mine now,” he glared at her, his eyes filled with rage. Her heart raced, and she tried moving away from his tight grip as he wrapped his hand around her neck, choking her. “I will show you what it is to try and run away from your Alpha.” Her breathing ragged, and her eyes rolled to the back of her head before the man’s hand loosened around her neck. His green eyes met hers in the darkness, and it was seconds later before his tattooed arms wrapped around her, holding her to his chest. “And that is what you get for messing with my MATE, Stefano…” ********************************* What if everything was nothing more than a lie? What if what you know was not more than a game? What if what you held onto was the one thing that was to drop you? When Alpha Diego is given a task by his father, he is forced to play the ONE game he hates most. The game of love. And the one thing that makes it even worse is that he forced to play it against the one person that he is supposed to cherish. His mate, Lea Auditore…

I stood, waiting for the Alpha to arrive with my father, knowing that the two of them were talking about something that they did not want me to hear.
I was only glad that the Alpha, Alpha Cosimo, allowed me to go inside the library to check out the books that they had. He didn’t know it, but I had a fetish for reading books, and I couldn’t help but find myself attracted to one of them. Their family history book.
The Wolves of the Medici.
“Should I even ask what you are doing here, omega?” A woman’s voice said from behind me. “Shouldn’t you be following your father, sweeping something as he spoke to the Alpha?”
I took a deep breath, choosing to ignore her harsh words, knowing that she would be doing her best to taunt me. She was the Alpha’s girlfriend, and she had her own reputation about how she would be treating women who entered the pack, specifically, new ones.
“Get off my tail, Renata,” I said, turning to face her. She raised an amused eyebrow at me and the puppets, in other words, ‘her friends’ snickered at my response. She glared at them, seeming less amused now, and I couldn’t help but smile knowing that I got under her skin.
“And if I don’t?” She asked, walking toward me. Her body towered over mine, and I took a deep breath, wanting to calm myself. The last thing that I needed was to find myself against the pack’s future Luna.
I went to walk past her, and she let out a low growl before wrapping her hand around my arm, stopping me. “I asked a question,”
“Let me go,” I said, but she only tightened her grip, letting me know that she wasn’t going to have it. I let out a low warning growl, and she laughed, mocking me before turning me around, forcing me to nearly drop the book before she pinned me against the bookcase.
“The next time that you think of growling at me, I am going to be sure…”
“Enough, Renata,” I heard his voice, the man who was supposed to be my mate. It was only a shame that it was merely one sided. And though I never heard of something like that, I was the one unlucky person who had a mate that didn’t feel the bond.
“Diego, my love, the two of us were just having fun,” Renata said, letting me go. She walked toward him, and I took a deep breath before turning to face them. Her friends giggled amongst themselves, and I couldn’t help but feel the clench in my chest as I saw her wrapping her arms around him. He wrapped his right one around her then looked at me.
“I trust that you are well, Lea,” he said, and I nodded.
“The feeling is mutual, Heir Alpha.” I said, and he nodded in respect before looking down at the book that I was holding onto for dear life. I was about to open my mouth to speak, to explain to him why I was here in the first place when the library door opened, revealing Alpha Cosimo and my father, Bartolomeo.
“Ah, good, you are all here.” Alpha Cosimo said, and I frowned in confusion as my father walked toward me. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and I purred, smiling at him before turning to the Alpha who glared at his son. The Heir Alpha let Renata’s shoulder go, and I watched as they all walked out of the room, leaving the four of us inside.
“Is everything alright, father?” I asked, being the first to speak. Diego crossed his arms over his chest, and his green eyes momentarily met my blue ones before I looked at his father waiting for an explanation to what was going on. My father’s face paled for a second, and I couldn’t help the frown that formed on my lips when I heard his heart racing.
Goosebumps rose over his skin, and as if a building had crumbled, I watched as my father fell to the ground, choking on his own breath.
“Dad?” I called, my eyes widening in surprise. His body shook, and though I tried to approach, arms wrapped around me, Alpha Cosimo’s, stopping me from approaching him.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE YOU WORTHLESS MAN? GO AND CALL THE PACK DOCTOR!” He yelled at his son. I tried moving from the Alpha’s arms, but the man wouldn’t budge as he refused to let me go.
“Alpha, please, I have to try and help him.” I begged. He shook his head as I watched his body still. My heart dropped and the library door opened a second later, revealing the heir Alpha as he walked inside followed by a doctor. She ran toward my father but I didn’t need her to put her finger on his neck to tell me that his heart had stopped beating.
“Dad?” I asked, moving from the Alpha’s arms, forcing the doctor away from him. I laid my head on his chest, trying to listen to his heartbeat, the shock too much on me as I refused to believe that he was dead. He was my only family, he couldn’t have left me too.
“Please wake up,” I begged, looking at him. I ran my finger over his face as tears fell freely from my eyes before the Alpha put his hand on my shoulder, squeezing it gently.
“LET ME GO!” I yelled before I could stop myself. The Alpha froze, and raised both his hands in surrender as I stood to face him. “What was it that you came here to tell us? What was the reason that he…?”
A needle was pushed inside my skin, right in the vain of my neck, and my eyes widened before I turned to look at the doctor as she pulled it out. Her eyes met mine and I put my hand on my neck for a second before my vision blurred as the world went dark.
The last thing that I remember seeing or feeling was his silver blue eyes, the Alpha’s, and his arms wrapping around me as he prevented my body from hitting the ground.
“I will explain everything to you, both of you, when you wake up. But for now, you are going to have to calm down, okay, little wolf?”
Third person point of view: “You are not going to call him to your side, Diego.” Luna Claudia snapped at her son, knowing that he was going to call the one man that she did not want him working with. The one person who she saw as a threat to him since he was born. The main reason why she believed that her eldest died. “He is an acquaintance, mama. The two of us share the same cause, and you know that very well.” Diego said, looking at his mother whose eyes were wide at her son’s statement. She shook her head, refusing to hear her son out, not wanting to listen to what he was going to tell her. Lea, his wife, who was sitting pregnant with their first child, put her hand on her stomach, knowing that this was going to grow intense. They were going to have to convince the Luna who she knew wouldn’t listen. She couldn’t blame her. When she heard who this acquaintance was, even she was surprised that her husband was willing to work with him. “That acquaintance of yours is your threat, D
Lea: Flashback: “Will you marry me, Lea Auditore…?” Diego asked, looking me in the eye. His eyes were filled with love, and though I didn’t even know how to respond at that moment, too perplexed, compelled, and surprised to find a proper response, I couldn’t help the tears that fell from my eyes at the sight. I took a step back for a second before he spoke, knowing that he took me off guard. “I know that I came out as sudden as I did, and I know that this was the last thing that you would have expected after the short period of time the two of us spent together. But Lea Auditore, I have never been so sure about anything else.” He said, keeping his eyes on mine as he spoke. “I realized when we were in Rome that I was never going to be able to live my life without you. That I knew that I would be incomplete without you by my side, and that is something that I knew to value. It cost a lot, and I know that the two of us were broken in many ways that would crush a person’s soul. But I k
Diego: I smiled as I saw my beauty looking at me, walking down the aisle with her brother holding her hand in his. The smile that was on her face was one that I knew wouldn’t leave my thoughts, and the way she walked, confidently, was something that I couldn’t but admire. I knew that it was her brother’s presence by her side, and I knew to value the man more by the day for what he was doing right now. Their eyes met for a moment, and I could swear that my mate’s smile was going to rip her face. The happiness that I saw in her eyes was one that made my world stop. For once in my life, something felt whole. Everything in my world felt whole. Flashback: “I want the two of you to know that this is not a game that you are playing,” Mario said, looking Lea and I in the eye. The two of us were in their pack as Lea chose to want to speak to the man. She wanted to be the one to tell him about the engagement, and though he was already aware that I wanted to propose, I was thankful and ha
Ezra: “What are you doing here?” I asked, shaking my head at Renata who was staring into space. His eyes met mine, she sighed, shaking her head. “I am going to watch the man that I love marry the woman, an omega who came to the pack, and ruined everything for me. What do you expect me to do aside from watch?” Renata asked, looking down at her feet. Her eyes welled up with tears and the woman shook her head as she wiped them. Her heart raced, and I could see that she was doing her best to hide how she was feeling. “Did you ever put in consideration that maybe you and Diego were not meant to be? I mean, not as meant to be as you believed that you were?” I asked, and she scoffed, shaking her head. “Up until the woman entered his life, the two of us were never having trouble. Even when we were, we always managed to solve them. Yes, I understand, I made a mistake, I cheated on him.” She said, and I stayed quiet, allowing her to let out what she was feeling. I had no right to judge her
Lea:Diego wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me to his chest as the two of us walked around the pack grounds. It was a while into the afternoon, and the sun was setting. It being winter, the sun was setting a little earlier than usual. I didn’t mind though, I loved it when winter came. It was one of my favorite seasons. “What are you thinking of, neonata?” Diego asked, catching my attention. I smiled and shook my head in response. I wasn’t thinking of anything, actually, I was embracing the moments of us being together, happy, content, and proud. At least, I knew that something came out right after everything that we’ve been through.“There is a lot going on in my mind, but I am guessing that the main thing right now is me being with you.” I said, and he smiled, shaking his head at my vague answer. In truth, I had nothing in particular that I was thinking about. There was my father, who I still tried to understand until today. How he had worked with the devil himself? How di
Diego: I had to admit, it was hard to enter the pack without Giovanni by my side. The pack was already aware of him passing away, but I still found it difficult to face them when they looked at us, clearly hoping for the news to be false. I wished that it was. “Diego,” Renata said, approaching us. She looked at me with tears in her eyes, and I shook my head before wrapping my arms around her, pulling her in for a hug. Lea didn’t say a word, nor did she react, if anything, she purred in response, assuring me that she understood the pain that the woman was in. We all grew up together, Renata, Giovanni, and I. When we left the pack, it was done together, but now… “How?” She asked, pulling away, shaking her head in question. “How did it happen?” I held my breath. I didn’t even want to think of what happened. The man was doing his part to ensure that the area was well guarded, that she would come alone only to end up being a victim. A victim, my beta, who died to keep me safe. And to m
