Everyone thought my mate Kieran, the Alpha of Blackwood pack, loved me so much that he was willing to give up everything for me. Only I knew that while he loved me, he also had an Omega mistress.

Without hesitation, I cancelled my Blackwood pack status and prepared to go back and inherit the Thunder pack.

Walking out of the Alpha Council building, I glanced up at the giant LED screen in the plaza. Kieran stood there in a tailored forest green suit, surrounded by reporters.

"Alpha Kieran hasn't attended charity auctions in years. What's so special about this one that it drew you here personally?"

Kieran casually brushed the hair from his forehead, smiling as he answered.

"I heard there's a set of green healing stones in tonight's auction. My mate loves green more than anything."

A reporter pressed further. "We've heard your pack elders are furious about you spending fortunes just to make your Luna smile. They've threatened to withdraw their support in the Alpha Council if you continue. Is this true?"

Kieran nodded without hesitation.

The reporter wouldn't let up. "Then why do you—"

Kieran cut him off. "Because my mate likes it."

Seven simple words that sent the girls in the plaza into a frenzy.

"He's defying his entire Alpha family just to make his Luna happy! God, why can't I find an Alpha who'd give me his whole heart like that?"

"Alpha Kieran truly loves his Luna. When she said she loved moonlight roses, he planted an entire rose garden with his own hands. When she said she loved nature, he moved the pack house closer to the Nightshade Forest. When she complained about noise, he ordered the patrol teams to drive away every chattering bird and insect."

I smiled as I listened, but tears began welling up without warning.

The rose garden stretched before me like a thousand blades piercing my heart.

Kieran and I had been college classmates.

Back then, the high and mighty Shadow Pack Alpha heir had countless beautiful, noble she-wolves chasing after him. But he fell for me at first sight—an ordinary she-wolf without a pack. His wolf recognized me as his one true mate the moment we met.

The wild, reckless Kieran completely changed. He stopped bar-hopping and dating different she-wolves every night. Instead, he threw himself into studying and training, determined to become strong enough to inherit Shadow Pack and refuse the arranged marriage his family planned.

The proud Alpha heir learned to cook and make soup for me. He learned to play violin, even though he hated it. He learned to wait outside the girls' dormitory, night after night.

On Valentine's Day, in the crowded campus courtyard, he dropped to one knee and begged me to give him a chance to take care of me.

But I rejected him.

The pain of being abandoned by my birth mother was too fresh. I couldn't risk giving my heart to anyone.

That day, everyone at the university saw Kieran sprawled on the campus road, crying and drinking, drinking and crying. Even the wind that night felt broken and desolate.

That summer, during a school research trip, I was attacked by rogue wolves.

In the chaos of battle, Kieran rushed to my side without regard for his own safety. When a massive rogue wolf struck me in the head and I collapsed, losing consciousness, he used his own body to shield me from a silver blade.

The blade pierced straight through his chest. He fell right in front of me.

A day and night later, I woke up in the hospital. The healer told me about Kieran's rescue with envy in her voice.

While unconscious, I had caught the faint scent of pine. That smell made me feel safe even in the midst of danger.

I cried, saying I wasn't worth it. Kieran's eyes reddened as he spoke each word clearly: "Aria, you never understood—in this world, no one but you could ever stop me from loving you."

In that noisy, chaotic hospital, all I could hear was my own thundering heartbeat.

I accepted his mark at the age of twenty-two, rejecting my Winters pack Alpha's request to inherit the Winters Pack.

I thought we'd be happy forever.

Until I turned twenty-nine, and Kieran started keeping our pack's healer, Scarlett, as his mistress.

My phone screen showed Scarlett's latest message:

"Want to make a bet? I bet Kieran won't bid on those green healing stones. He'll go for the red ones instead. Because I love red."

The banquet ended abruptly. I locked myself in my room for many days, my mind spinning with everything that had happened.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Sebastian's face when he told me about that summer ten years ago. The boy who had truly saved me. The boy whose story Kieran had stolen.I knew that in this lifetime, I still owed Kieran a debt. But I also knew I could never repay it by sacrificing my own happiness. That evening, Sebastian came to take me to dinner. His gentle knock on my door made my heart skip."Evelyn, are you ready?"I opened the door to find him holding a bouquet of white roses. Not the red ones Kieran used to bring, but pure white ones that somehow felt more honest."You look beautiful," Sebastian said softly.I felt my cheeks warm. "You don't have to say that every time you see me.""I'm not saying it because I have to. I'm saying it because it's true."Before I could respond, Uncle Marcus appeared at the end of the hallway. His expression was dark and deter

The moment the door swung open, people rushed in like a flood. Some even held phones ready to record.I recognized several faces—Isabella's friends, some pack gossips, and a few people I didn't know but who clearly had cameras ready.Seeing the clothes scattered across the floor and the man lying with his back toward them, Isabella stepped forward with theatrical outrage."Evelyn!" she gasped, pointing at me accusingly. "I know you've grown wild living abroad, but this is home! Don't you know you need to protect your reputation?"Her voice carried just the right amount of shock and concern to sound convincing to outsiders."If Grandfather saw you like this, he'd faint from shock!"I laughed coldly inside. Such an elaborate production. Knowing she'd failed to have me killed, she wanted to destroy me socially instead."Sister," I said carefully, "this isn't what it looks like—""Isn't what it looks like?" Isabella's voice rose dramatically. "There are clothes everywhere! There's a man in

I was already in tears, my voice breaking as I spoke. "So you just watched from afar like that, holding onto a hope with almost no chance, wasting ten years of your life?"Sebastian reached out to cup my face gently, his thumb brushing away the tears streaming down my cheeks."Wasting?" Sebastian smiled, but his eyes held unprecedented determination. "Have you ever heard this saying? When a young man's heart stirs once, it stirs forever."His voice was soft but firm, each word carrying the weight of years."You're the mate the Moon Goddess chose for me. If it's not you, it won't be anyone else."I felt my breath catch. The intensity in his eyes was overwhelming."Sebastian, you could have had anyone. You're powerful, handsome, from the strongest pack. Any she-wolf would have been honored to be with you.""But I didn't want anyone else," he said simply. "For me, not a single second was wasted. Being able to stand here now and tell you I love you—that's the best reward these ten years co

With tears streaming down my face, I stared at Sebastian's earnest expression. My voice was barely a whisper."What you just said—is it all true?"Sebastian's eyes never left mine as he nodded slowly."Every word. I started loving you many, many years ago."He took a deep breath, as if preparing to bare his soul completely."That summer, I was twenty-two. You were my nephew's combat training instructor."I felt my breath catch. A distant memory flickered at the edge of my consciousness."Before you came along, my nephew had driven away five previous teachers," Sebastian continued, a slight smile touching his lips. "He was impossible. Spoiled, arrogant, refused to listen to anyone.""But with you..." Sebastian's voice grew soft with memory. "With you, everything changed. He adored you. Wouldn't let anyone say a single negative word about his instructor."My heart began to race as pieces of a forgotten puzzle started falling into place."I became curious," Sebastian admitted. "What kind

Kieran didn't know how he managed to walk out of that room. His legs felt like lead, each step a monumental effort. The man from ten years ago—it really had been Sebastian Cross. The truth crashed over him like a tidal wave, threatening to drown him in guilt and regret. He stumbled down the hotel corridor, his mind reeling with memories he'd tried so hard to bury. That day ten years ago played out in vivid detail behind his eyes.Back then, he'd seen me isolated from the group, struck in the head by a blood-crazed rogue wolf and knocked unconscious. Blood had been streaming down my face, and I'd looked so small and helpless lying there.A man with a similar build to his had rushed forward without hesitation. Kieran could still see it clearly now—the way the stranger had thrown himself between me and the silver blade, using his own chest to absorb the deadly blow.Even as the medical team carried him away on a stretcher, the wounded man had kept begging the healers to treat me first."P

In an instant, Sebastian's face flushed red all the way to his ears. He greedily kissed my soft lips but stopped before going any further. He couldn't take advantage of someone in distress.Just then, the doorbell rang—the doctor he'd called had arrived. The doctor administered a sedative, and I fell into deep sleep.Sebastian knelt beside the bed, gently tucking my scattered hair behind my ears.He reached out, tracing the outline of my face in the air. After all these years, this face still made his heart race.Remembering that kiss, Sebastian unconsciously touched his own lips, smiling foolishly to himself. My phone rang. It was Alpha Winters.Sebastian, worried it might be urgent, answered the call."Evelyn, where are you? Did something happen?"Sebastian replied awkwardly, "Uncle, Evelyn had too much to drink and is resting at a hotel now.""Don't worry, I'll take good care of her."Alpha Winters exhaled in relief. Heaven knew how worried he'd been when he saw the message I'd sent
