LOGINI woke up with an aching head and dry lips. I sat up, wanting to talk with Leo to let him know how sorry I was for acting the way I did, but when I looked around for him, he wasn’t there. Instead, Aerin looked at me with worried eyes. “Are you okay?” She asked. Before I could answer, familiar faces showed up, but none of them belonged to the person that I really wanted to see right now. “What are you feeling?” Katherine worriedly asked. “Tired and with an excruciating headache,” I replied, my voice hoarse from dryness. Let me get you some water, Katherine rushed out while Aerin asked Clint to call the healer. “Leo left while you’re sleeping, he didn’t want to, but he had to go,” Aerin explained as she pulled something out from her pocket. “Once the healer clears you, then I’ll tell your friends to give you some time alone so that you can read it. It was one of the things that Leo requested to be done before he left.” I looked at the folded paper in my hands. I wonder what went
Everyone I have met has always warned me the same thing about vampires. Never make a deal with them unless you know every detail of it.“Break the treaty and you have our full support.”I look at the Vampire Lord in front of me. If I had not found the Faes, I might have hastily agreed to make this deal. But I am not desperate. And even so, why would I break something that my father had tried so hard to build? If I ask him why he wanted me to break the treaty with us, he might take offense at it. Because, as far as I could remember, that treaty is one of the reasons why the Vampires couldn’t touch us or the humans. So instead of asking that, I asked the same thing that the Fae King asked. “Are you forming an alliance with us?” Once again, the Vampire Lord in front of me smiled. I hate that creep smile. Ever since I sat in front of him, there was nothing I wanted to do more than to wipe off that ugly smile of his. “Of course,” he replied more than willingly. “That’s what brothers do
As I got out of the truck, I knew that Kaleo was looking at me with piercing eyes, but he had no time to ask me what he wanted to ask because we were finally here. We both know that vampires have heightened hearing capabilities, just like we do. That’s the reason why Kaleo didn’t ask me anything the moment he parked his truck. We walk towards the building in silence. My father built this building in the hopes of creating peace. It was one of the stories that Mateo’s father told us. Unfortunately, after he died, no one really used this building because the war with the rogues then stopped. The Vampires also kept their distance because of the treaty my father made. The Alliance that he had worked so hard for. The peace he died for. The Vampire Lord was already seated at the table in the middle of the room. He looked up and smiled as we entered the room. There was something eerie about the way he smiled, yet I could tell it had always been his way with everyone. Behind the Vampire
“The Vampire Lord is here.”Hearing Alejandro say that confirmed that this was really happening. “I will come with you,” Mateo’s father said, getting ready to come with me, but stopped when Alejandro handed me something. “The Vampire Lord asked me to give you this,” he said as he handed me a piece of paper. I opened the paper only to see two sentences. 1. Do not bring Maximus.2. You’re allowed to bring a friend, just one, except for Maximus.“What did it say?” Mateo’s father, Maximus, asked. I am not sure how to tell him about the letter, so instead of telling him, I just handed him the paper. “What the fuck is this?” Maximus asked angrily. Mateo took the piece of paper and read what was written, then looked at me. He didn’t have to say it out loud, but now we understood why the Fae King told us not to sign anything unless we consulted with his father. “You’re banned, Dad,” Mateo said out loud. “I know what’s written there, I just can’t believe that he would do that. If he th
Mateo is one of the most understanding friends that I have. He seldom demands anything. And when he does, we all know that it’s not something you just brush off. So I told Mateo everything. His face remained blank as if what I said was not something that was out of the ordinary. Although being in the Fae land might have already opened his mind to these kinds of things. After I was done telling him everything, Mateo stopped driving and looked at me. “Honestly, I am not sure what’s really happening, but I believe that they are happening because there’s a reason behind it.” I could tell that he was doing his best to understand everything that I just told him. “After you speak with the Vampire Lord, go back to the Fae Land and talk with the Fae King. I will make sure to keep Lylia safe. We’ll tell them we haven’t found the Fae Land and that you are still searching for it. I know that my father will feel the urgency of finding the Fae Land, especially since the Vampire Lord requested
In the land of the Faes, there are a lot of things that fascinate me and scare me at the same time. I’m most intrigued by their strange way of traveling and how a single door can lead you somewhere entirely new, as if space itself bends to their will.Just like how we arrived at my pack that could have taken almost a day, we traveled the usual way. Still, by doing this, we had enough time to plan our next move and for Mateo to demand an explanation. I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed not to be able to see the hut Kelly told me about. Maybe someday I'll be able to see it. I guess, just not now. “You do know that you have a lot of answering to do,” he started to say as he blocked my way. “Now is the right time for you to give those answers.” He added, leaving me no option but to give him what he asked for. “We might have enough time to talk about it, but there are a lot of things that I need to do first before I meet the Vampire Lord.” Mateo didn’t budge. “Trust me, an hour isn’t
